History

Abused by her father, Scarlet had an unhappy childhood. One evening when she had had enough of it, she secretly killed her father by lighting his bed with a cigarette. His death was considered an accident, and Scarlet was sent to her aunt and uncle where her living conditions were improved. She became a nun and married Vince Fasinera. He was a small-time criminal who was the second man in her life who mistreated her. He died after falling down the stairs of a church. Adopting the alias of Stained Glass Scarlet, she later became a vigilante after being forced to kill her criminal son, Joseph "Mad Dog" Fasinera.[2]

Scarlet was killed resisting arrest in the same church where both her son and husband had died. She gained a cult following after her passing, with a legend spreading that one could pray to her for retribution against wrongdoers. The power of her legend and worship apotheosized Stained Glass Scarlet into a divine entity that lurked the church where she died. True to the legend, people could pray to her to kill. The sudden appearance of bodies killed by Fasinera's modus operandi led to the vigilante Hunter's Moon to investigate her church and come into contact with her. He summoned his master, Khonshu, and the elder god subdued her metaphysically, taking advantage of the fact that she was a newer godling to overpower her.[1]

  • Mind Link: Scarlet originally did not have any apparent powers other than a mysterious psychic bond with Moon Knight. This psychic bond is not systematic. It appears when Stained Glass Scarlet thinks intensively on Moon Knight and when he is receptive. It can appear in the form of dreams during which their thoughts intermingle and in this way they can briefly communicate together.[citation needed]
  • Glass Body: After being killed and reborn, Scarlet became a being made of shards of stained glass and she can manipulate these shards to attack her enemies.[1]
  • Immortality: Scarlet was apotheosized by the faith of people and became a young god. As long as her story persists and someone remembers her name and worships her she can't die and can't be killed even by other gods.[1]
