Mario vs Super Smash Bros.
Not to be confused with Mini Mario, a transformation of Mario introduced in New Super Mario Bros..

Mini Marios (originally styled as Mini-Marios) are energetic toys created in the likeness of Mario. They are sold by the Mario Toy Company. They first appear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong, and have gone on to appear in every other installment of the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series. The hands of Mini Marios resemble, and are likely designed after, those of Lego mini-figures.

The Mini Marios are voiced by Charles Martinet in all of their appearances. Mini Marios sound similar to Mario, but are higher-pitched similar to Baby Mario and have a robotic undertone.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

The Mini Marios strike an exact appearance to Mario, but with black beady eyes, and a wind-up key on its back. In Mario VS Donkey Kong II: March of the Minis, they have a Gold Appearance and a Fire Flower appearance. The Golden Appearance makes a Mini Mario glimmer and shine with gold on it's entire body. The Fire Flower appearance is similar to Mario's Fire Flower color palette. In Mario VS Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, if a Mini Mario is cursed by one of Donkey Kong's Robots, they will have a dark purple shade on them, with their eyes glowing red.

Mini Marios are created by Mario Toy Company, and are sold during the intro of the game. Donkey Kong wants to obtain one of these toys, but are sold out instantly. DK decides to break into Mario's Toy Company and steal every Mini Mario within the factory. As DK exits the company, Mario notices DK heading off with the kidnapped Mini Marios, and thus Mario must re-obtain every Mini Mario that has been stolen by DK.

Within the Normal Levels of the game, Mini Marios are trapped within blue capsules, after they've been (accidentally) left behind by DK. When Mario reaches the Mini Mario within a capsule, he can pick the capsule and break it, freeing the Mini Mario, and completing the level. After completing the previous 6 stages in a world, an additional level with the Mini Marios open up, where Mario must guide the Minis to a toy box, whilst collecting letters that spell 'TOY.' Depending on how many Mini Marios reach the toy box unscathed, they provide Mario with extra hit-points during the DK fight (6 as the MAX amount).

Near End of the Normal Game, DK will stop and notice all the Mini Marios had vanished from his bag, only to see the Minis approach DK and laugh at his failure. However, after beating the Normal Final Boss, DK will fall ontop of a truck and free several Mini Marios, re-capturing them once-more, unlocking Plus Mode.

In Plus Mode, the Mini Marios are once again freed from the blue capsules and are within levels holding a key on their back, waiting for activation. If Mario approaches a Mini Mario, he will activate them, causing the Mini Mario to follow Mario. It is Mario's job to safely guide them to the locked door, without the Mini getting injured or damaged, as if they touch an enemy or hazard, they will die instantly and cost Mario a life. Additionally, if Mario dies while a Mini Mario is active, said Mini Mario will cry over Mario's death. If a Mini Mario does successfully reach the locked door, he will unlock the door and complete the level. Additionally if Mario defeats DK in any of the plus mode fights, the screens will display Mario and 6 Mini Marios doing fun little things with one another.

After completing the 6 Plus Worlds, DK will check his bag to find 6 remaining Mini Marios within his bag, taking them to the top of a nearby tower, and opening up the Final Boss. In the Final Boss battle, DK's mech will have 3 Mini Marios in each hand, and within each hit, will free the Mini Mario from captivity.

After completing the final boss, Mario gives DK his own Mini Mario after all the events that have happened, finally finishing this Ordeal once and for all. With the Mini Marios making one last appearance on the ending screen, hopping up and down.
