Lava Lotus is an enemy which appears in Super Mario Bros. 3. They are like an underwater relative to Pansers, an enemy in Super Mario Bros. 2. Lava Lotuses sit on the sea floor, where they constantly spew lava balls, attempting to hit Mario or Luigi in the process. Lava Lotuses are invulnerable to the fireballs thrown by Fire Mario, but can be defeated from the hammers thrown by Hammer Mario or if touched by Invincible Mario. Defeating a Lava Lotus earns the player 100 points.
In Super Mario World, while Lava Lotuses do not return, they received their own variant, Volcano Lotuses.
