Giant Pokeys (also called Mega Pokeys or Large Pokeys) are larger and tall variations of Pokeys first appearing in Mario Kart Wii, typically, Giant Pokeys are stronger than standard Pokeys and also have the ability to toss their segments around. Like their smaller counterparts, some Giant Pokeys are seen with flowers on their heads while others have spikes all over.

History[]

Mario Kart Wii[]

A Giant Pokey appears as a boss in Mario Kart Wii during two Competitions during October 2008 and September 2009. The Giant Pokey is fought in Thwomp Desert and is seen lingering above the quicksand pit in the center. The Giant Pokey attacks by lobbing it's segments at a player, these segments roll around making for a rough obstacle, he also has the ability to regenerate any lost segments. To defeat the Giant Pokey, you must grab the Item Boxes and toss the Bob-ombs at his head, after two hits, his head starts rolling around with his segments, score three hits on the Giant Pokey to defeat him.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star[]

A single Giant Pokey named Tower Power Pokey appears in Paper Mario: Sticker Star he was once a regular Giant Pokey living in Drybake Stadium but then a Royal Sticker landed on his head making him even stronger.


New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[]

Giant Pokeys appear again in New Super Mario Bros. U as well as New Super Luigi U and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. In these games, they only appear during the boss fight with Morton Koopa Jr. in Morton's Compactor Castle and Morton's Lava-Block Castle, during the battle, a Giant Pokey will emerge from the quicksand below the arena and Morton Koopa Jr. will use his hammer to whack the Giant Pokey's segements at the heroes, the segments will either slide along the ground or bounce. The Giant Pokey can only be directly beaten with the effects of a Starman.

Yoshi's New Island[]

A Giant Pokey named Punkey the Pokey Prince appears as the boss of World 5 in Yoshi's New Island, he was a regular White Pokey that was enlarged by Kamek's magic.


Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam[]

Two Giant Pokeys named Big Pokey and Paper Tower Power Pokey appear in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam they are seen residing at Doop Doop Dunes where they prevent Mario, Luigi, and Paper Mario from exiting the desert, they are later fought at Doop Doop Dunes Grotto.

Paper Mario: The Origami King[]

Giant Pokeys called Mega Paper Macho Pokeys appear as enemies in Paper Mario: The Origami King as among one of the Paper Macho enemies to be fought.

Trivia[]

  • Larger Pokeys are also seen in Super Mario Galaxy however these are actually regular Pokeys as they are referred to as such by the game, not to mention that they are slightly smaller than a Giant Pokey.
