Wario Land

Bobo is a large bird in the Wario Land series. It first appears in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 then returns Wario Land II. In both games, Bobo is featured as the boss guardian of the SS Tea Cup.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

Bobo's most recognizable characteristic is the large skull emblem on his chest. In Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, Bobo appeared to have black feathers due to the Game Boy system and some Japanese media (such as the Perfect Edition of the Great Mario Character Encyclopedia) depicting him as a grayscale or monochromatic. In a Super Mario Kodansha issue and the Game Boy Color version of Wario Land II, Bobo has purple feathers, a yellow beak, and a yellow belly. Wario Land II appears to depict Bobo as smaller yet still larger than Wario.

In Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3[]

During his battle, Bobo attempts to attack Wario by either swooping into him, spitting Watches at him, or by trying to blow him off into a pit. To attack Bobo, Wario must jump on his head, which he can reach by jumping from the Watches. Once Wario has done this three times, Bobo is defeated.

In Wario Land II[]

Defeat Bobo WLII

Wario fighting Bobo in Wario Land II

Bobo is fought in chapter two's fifth and final story, Defeat Bobo!!. Here, Bobo's only direct attack involves it repeatedly swooping down at Wario then flying back up. Bobo can also conjure wind from the ground by flapping its wings. Wario has to crouch, otherwise the wind blows him away out of the boss fight and to an earlier part of the level. Wario can attack Bobo by either jumping on it twice or by Ground Pounding it, the latter being equivalent to two hits.

Every time Bobo takes two hits from a jump attack or one hit with a Ground Pound, Bobo changes its movements in its direct attack. After taking its first two hits, Bobo changes from performing a large and slow curve to moving in a w-like shape. After four hits, Bobo moves in three lines with 90 degree sharp turns. After taking six hits or being Ground Pounded three times, Bobo is defeated.

In Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour[]

Bobo is one of the names featured score chart, but it is not clear if it refers to Bobo from the Wario Land games.
