University of Colorado Boulder archives files, May 16, 2024: Grauman's Theatres scores (Sid Grauman was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1879 and was the son of David and Rosa Grauman, who were Jewish vaudeville performers. In 1899, the Grauman family moved to San Francisco, California, where they operated several theatres. In 1917, the Graumans moved to Los Angeles, California, where they opened the Million Dollar Theatre, the Egyptian Theatre in 1922, El Capitan Theatre in May 1926 and Grauman's Chinese Theatre, which opened in 1927. Sid Grauman died in Los Angeles, California, in 1950.)
