Transcriptio sive transcriptio genetica in biologia est primum expressionis genorum, a quo segmentum ADN certum in ARN exscribitur. Sub auxilium enzymi, ARN polymerasis funiculum cum sensu antiparallelo generatur, tum transcriptum primarium nominatum est. In virologia quoque transcriptio (rectius ARN replicatio) observatur, hic enim informatio genetica ex ARN exlegitur. Studium quantitatis transcriptorum vocatur transcriptomica[1].
