Probably the best intro in the whole jam

Developer

Thank you! So glad you liked it :)

Great concept, great intro, and great idea for the combat, it just didn't click for me. There was definitely fun to be had, but I felt like I was exploiting the game by spamming slide infinitely and getting away with it.

But I really, really think you should keep at it. The idea is excellent and with more time and shine, there's definitely a demand for this type of gameplay. Thank you for submitting :)

Thank you! I feel you, there's more I wanted to do with the combat, but alas. I wanted to focus on getting the whole package put together, so I neglected making the mechanics any deeper or more polished. Thanks for your kind words.

Cool early concept. The comic book style intro was really neat. There is a solid foundation for the battle mechanics but definitely needs some polish.

The jump feels off (you might need to make a cooldown because it looks like you can interrupt a jump with another jump). When the enemy reached 15% everything seemed to stop, so I may have encountered a bug.

Solid foundation, keep it up!

Developer

Oops! Good catch on the bug. Thanks for checking it out :)

The comic style introduction was really neat! As far as the gameplay goes, it feels pretty neat for a mario & luigi style turn-based action rpg thing, but what i think this misses is a more clear tells for what direction the attack is going to go. Also, there's a bug where i can interrupt a special attack using a regular attack in the middle of it!

Hey! Yes you nailed it, I just finished Bowsers Inside Story and I was interested in building something similar to see how it worked.

Agree on the windups / telegraphing attacks. Would have loved to have some custom animations but had to go with premade assets due to time crunch of the game jam. Appreciate the playthrough!

awesome, loved the comic style lore introduction, but the combat feels quite bland and very easy to get by.

Developer

Thank you for the compliment and the constructive criticism! Thanks for playing!

Developer

Thanks, the comic was really fun to put together. Yep, would have loved to build more into the combat system!
