I do not have any studies and I’m just sharing my own thoughts and results

All exercises work best once a week when done in addition to a normal training program. If 
this is your only training, you can of course get faster results with 2x a week - while always aiming to find pain free ability. Working through pain will do more harm than good. I try my best to show possible regressions that are accessible to beginner levels
