Product Details
Introduce artists, types of art, vocabulary, and open-ended ways of thinking about art to young students in just minutes each day! The elements of art (line, shape, color, form, value, texture, and space) are illustrated to teach vocabulary skills. Then different types of art (painting, drawing, sewing, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, architecture, clothing, etc) are shown with leading questions to get students thinking about and discussing the artworks and how they relate to the element of art that is featured. You may choose to present one artwork to the class before the day’s lesson or go over a whole category of vocabulary and images that pertain to what you are studying at the beginning of a unit, such as line. You may go over the questions as a class, small groups, partners, or have students write about them in their sketchbooks. There is also an EASEL activity included with this purchase that allows students to answer the questions in the presentation on their digital device. You can assign this to them through Google Classroom or by sending them a link. If you do one artwork discussion slide per class period, this will keep your class discussing art for a few minutes a day for 35 class periods! There are 5 artwork discussion slides about each of the 7 elements of art, plus a vocabulary slide about each element of art. Looking for more great resources about art criticism? Look, Listen, Act!
