This week's Whisky Photo of the Week shows one of the two ways to store barrels of maturing whisky: on their sides or their ends. Dunnage-style warehouses and rick houses store barrels on their sides, while "palletized" warehouses stack them in pallets of six. Each style has its own proponents, and a few distillers use both methods, including Diageo's Cascade Hollow Distillery in Tennessee where this photo was made.
