RD19243. Opened in 1902, the Hastings East Cliff Railway is 267 feet long and rises at a gradient of 1 in 1¼ making it the steepest funicular railway in the U.K. The gauge is 5ft. Orignially a water balanced system, it was conveted to electricity in the 1970s when new cars were provided. These were replaced again in 2010. The Budapest Castle Hill Funicular or Budavári Sikló is a funicular railway in the city of Budapest, in Hungary.
