Gwendolyn "Wendy" Whipple is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Wanda Whipple) of the 2024 live-action miniseries Knuckles, a spin-off to the Sonic the Hedgehog film series. She is the mother of Wade and Wanda Whipple and the ex-wife of Pete Whipple.
She is portrayed by Stockard Channing.

While Wendy’s profession is unknown, it can be assumed she used to be in some form of law enforcement, as both of her kids are in law enforcement, and Wendy herself is an excellent martial artist; being able to fight off trained armed thugs alongside Knuckles. Wendy is the mother to Wade and Wanda. She is the ex-wife of Pete Whipple, who eventually abandoned the family to continue his bowling career.
Knuckles[]
One day at their home in Boise, Idaho, Wendy and Wanda are visited by Wade, who wanted to stop by after spending two years, three months, and 13 days without them. He introduces them to his friend, Knuckles. The family have dinner together. Wendy then tells him about the shabbat dinner. He informs Wendy about his family before telling them of his role of saving the world and protecting the Master Emerald. She watches Wade and Wanda having an argument before he goes to his room. Wanda also leaves the room, leaving Wendy behind with Knuckles, whom she is grateful to have with her. Wendy and Knuckles also have desserts while watching the film Pretty Woman. Wendy states that having dessert while watching a movie is part of the tradition. Later that night, a group of bounty hunters broke into the house coming for Wade due him being a fugitive. Wendy, armed with two frying pans, along with Knuckles, take down the fighters while protecting the candles. After the whole battle, the family with Knuckles gather to light up some candles.
Wendy, along with Knuckles and Wanda, watch Wade return, having been captured by Wade's old friend and bounty hunter, Jack Sinclair, before defeating and humiliating the latter, on Jack's bike along with his hat and jacket, but stops on the grass, which Wendy told him to get off it. Later, Wendy and Wanda accompany Knuckles and Wade to Reno.
Wendy and Wanda arrive at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno meeting up with Wade and Knuckles. Wendy invites Knuckles to come to the spa while Wanda tries to gift Knuckles a drink, which she names "Wandarita." Wade refuses to have both, as they need to keep a low profile. After Wendy and Wanda decide to go their activities on their own, while Wade sees and reunites with Pistol Pete. They watch Wade competing in the tournament and he is now placed in the finals against their father. Wendy then watches Wade and Pete talk and hug each other. She later talks to Wade in the hallway near his room, telling her son to beware of Pistol Pete.
She leaves via the elevator, walking inside next to a rogue GUN agent, Mason. It is revealed that Pete betrayed the family again by bringing Wendy and Wanda to Mason and his partner and rogue GUN agent, Willoughby, whom kidnap them and placed them in Pete's suite. He brings Wade to his room before revealing his betrayal and enforcing him to give up Knuckles to let them be released and to forfeit the tournament. Unbeknownst to the agents, Knuckles overheard the whole thing through Wade's earbuds, the two planned an ambush before he sends him to Pete's room. Knuckles arrives and battles the two agents while Wade rescues Wendy and Wanda. Knuckles then defeats the agents by sending them on a loop through the portal rings.
Wendy and Wanda continue to watch the tournament. Wade managed to defeat his father in the finals. Shortly, Knuckles is attacked by the agent's employer, The Buyer, who appeared in his mech and thrower him into the stadium. After being dragged outside, Knuckles is drained of his power. Wade comes by to assist, using Mason's gauntlets to throw bowling balls, given by Wendy and Wanda, at the mech. They watched as Wade motivates Knuckles to fight before he regains his powers and the two defeats The Buyer. The four returns to the stadium and when Pete tries to steal Wade's trophy, Wanda and Wendy beat him up for it. They celebrate the victory. Wanda offers Wendy to join the FBI.
