Biography[]
Early Life[]
Aquaria Neptunia was born in the Maritanis colony, and is the daughter of an unnamed Atlantean man and a human. She was nicknamed "Namora" to honor her cousin Namor, who was similarly born as hybrid by a naval captain and the Atlantean princess Fen. Namora later met her cousin when she went to Atlantis, and earned his respect when she freed him from a torpedo.
Going to the Surface[]
Around the mid-1940s, Namora's skin faded away from the natural blue, and her father revealed her human heritage. When Atlantis was attacked by the mobster Stomp Richards, Namora informed Namor of the incident, and wanted to get revenge against Richards and his group. During her early days on the surface, Namora traveled with Namor and his friend Betty Dean until she decided to do solo adventures, such as traveling to Mexico to assist Dr. Webber, Shanghai to stop jewel thieves, and stopping the prime minister of Turkey. At some point, she returned to Atlantis but resurfaced around the 1950s, where she helped the United States fight against the Communist. Additionally, she married the fellow Atlantean Talan, who was a member of the royal family, but couldn't have a child with him due to her hybrid nature.
Around 1958, Namora joined the Monster Hunters under the leadership of Ulysses Bloodstone, where they investigated a research facility that was supposedly suffering from a monster. The group briefly battled Black Fox and his allies, but become allies with them to stop Zuhn, Blackjack and Scythe. After leaving the team for unknown reasons, she came across Jimmy Woo, and declined his offer in joining the G-Men. In 1959, Namora began a relationship with Kraven the Hunter, and the two were recruited by Nick Fury into joining the 1950s Avengers. She was needed for the first mission in stopping the Red Skull, who was reassembling the Nazis into the Fourth Reich. Following the mission, the members were attacked by Geoffrey Sydenham and ICON, and Fury brought them back together to stop him.
During the 1960s, Namora came across the scientist Vyrra and asked him to create a clone that would be implanted inside her, as Atlantean society was urging her and Talan to have children. The clone became Namorita, whom she protected after Talan was killed after an atomic test above the surface. Taking her child to Lemura, Namora fell in love with its ruler Merro, but she was later poisoned by Llyra, who was also in love with Merro.
Modern Era[]
Though thought dead, the robot M-11 learned that she was still alive, as her hybrid physiology put in her in a sate of suspended animation. Agents of Atlas found her corpse within the rubble of Atlantis, and upon awaking in the modern era, decided to join the agency.
When Hulk returned to Earth after being exiled by the Illuminati, Namora joined his side as she angered by the government's registration following the events of Civil War.
Around this time, she learned of Hercules' attraction to her, and called off his attempts since she learned of the hero seducing superheroines and his impulsive behavior. During the Secret Empire storyline, Namora led a rebellion against Namor's rule as Atlantis' tyrant.
