Princess Zelda is the titular main protagonist of the 2024 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. She is the princess of the kingdom of Hyrule and the daughter of the King of Hyrule. She is kind-hearted and always willing to help out her subjects in anyway possible.

Sometime before Echoes of Wisdom begins, Princess Zelda was kidnapped and imprisoned in a pink crystal prison by the monster named Ganon. A week later, a young warrior named Link was able to track Ganon to Suthorn Ruins where he traversed through the hazardous dungeon and managed to defeat Ganon in battle. However, a dark rift appeared where Ganon left his trident and Link ends up being caught in it alongside a portion of the room. As he sunk into the rift, Link manages to shoot an arrow at the crystal confining the princess, causing it to crack and free her from captivity. Once Zelda lands safely on her feet, she noticed a small glowing yellow entity floating towards Link's discarded hood nearby. Zelda goes over and picks up the garment when the rift began to expand at a rapid rate, forcing the princess to make a mad dash out of the dungeon she was trapped in. She makes it outside as Suthorn Ruins is engulfed by the rift and is soon found by Hyrule soldiers who escort her back to Hyrule Castle Town where she is greeted by many relieved citizens.
Zelda goes to see her father, the King of Hyrule, to talk about the events that have transpired over the last week and learns that the rifts which have appeared across the land are getting worse. The king orders to send General Wright and Minister Lefte to deal with this matter but a rift suddenly appears in the throne room and swallows all three of them, spawning three impostors in their place. The impostor king orders his guards to arrest Zelda under the false charge of creating the rifts that threaten the kingdom and she is locked inside a cell to await her planned execution. However, the glowing yellow entity from the ruins eventually reappeared and decided to help Zelda escape the castle's dungeon after she agrees to help it find its friends. The entity introduced itself as Tri and gave the princess a magical staff called the Tri Rod to utilize Echoes from objects and monsters. Zelda uses the Tri Rod to escape imprisonment and make it past the patrolling guards safely before coming across her trusted caretaker Impa as she is about to leave the dungeon. Zelda explains to her the situation and is told to wear Link's hood in order disguise her appearance and seek out someone in Suthorn Forest who can assist her further. Zelda uses a secret shortcut to leave the castle unnoticed, but unfortunately encounters another growing rift and is force to dive into a rushing stream of water to escape it.
After washing ashore inside a cave, Zelda and Tri make their way to Suthorn Forest only to find a rift had consumed the area where help was supposed to be located. Tri informed Zelda that there was a way to restore the area to normal, but they would first have to jump into the rift through an entry point nearby and find Tri's friends trapped within it. Inside the rift was a realm called the Still World; a place where everything pulled into it gradually disappears and anyone sent there are rendered inert. However, Zelda remained unaffected by the Still World's environment and soon discovered that some of Tri's friends are actually inside Suthorn Ruins, where Zelda herself was previously held captive by Ganon. She enters the ruins to find a large obstacle blocking her path, so Tri teaches her how to bind herself to objects in order to move them around or vice-versa. Using this ability, she ventures deeper into the ruins and eventually encounters a hostile Echo of Link wielding the real one's sword. Zelda manages to take the sword away from the imposter and the weapon imbues her with a mysterious energy that temporarily transforms her into a mighty swordswoman so she can attack her foes directly.
After Zelda defeats a strong monster called Seismic Talus deep within Suthorn Ruins, Tri's friends are freed from captivity and use their power to close the rifts in Suthorn Forest, restoring the land to its normal state. Princess Zelda and Tri travel back to the forest where they find Minister Lefte had also returned from the rift and she takes them to see Impa's older brother Lueburry to discuss more about the situation at Hyrule Castle. It was decided that their best chance of finding the real king and general is to fix up the other giant rifts at Gerudo Desert and Zora River. But while Zelda did rescue General Wright at Zora River, the King of Hyrule was still unaccounted for, and the only other large rift remaining was back at Hyrule Castle. Zelda gets there in time to see the rift grow big enough to swallow the castle entirely, making her gain access to it using an entry point underground. She discovers the king was indeed held there along with many of Tri's friends, but also finds out that the one she must defeat to free them was an Echo of Ganon, formed from the three impostors who took the place of the king and his subjects. Zelda managed to vanquish Ganon and close the rift on Hyrule Castle when another creature suddenly appeared and tried to attack her as she was leaving the Still World. Luckily, Link appeared at that moment to save her from the attack, although he winds up being taken as the monster's prisoner while Zelda teleports to safety.
Zelda is reunited with the King of Hyrule who is proud of her deeds and clears up the false accusations made against her by his imposter. She is then given time to recuperate before being called upon by the king to discuss about the events which had transpired. Tri suggested that something is creating the rifts when three more large ones appear in Hyrule at locations associated with the Prime Energy, a power left behind by the Golden Goddesses when they created the land. According to ancient legends, two heroes would appear to defend the Prime Energy from those who would use it for evil. Zelda and Link are believed to be these two heroes and only they can prevent Hyrule's destruction from whatever is causing the rifts. Princess Zelda traveled to Eldin Volcano, Faron Wetlands and Holy Mount Lanayru, so she can get rid of the big rifts in those areas and gain sanction to the Prime Energy from each of the Golden Goddesses themselves. She also learned about a primordial entity called Null, the monster responsible for the rifts across Hyrule and the one Link defended her against in the Still World. Null's goal is to destroy everything the Golden Goddesses created and leave nothing but the void, making it vital for Zelda to find the Prime Energy before Null does. However, after she received the last sanction, the princess is rendered unconscious when an Echo of her called Tekom is formed for the purpose of getting access to the Prime Energy and using it on Null's behalf.
Zelda regained consciousness back at Hyrule Castle and then headed to Eternal Forest where the Prime Energy is said to be hidden. Unfortunately, Tekom had already deceived its way into locating the Prime Energy first, which is revealed to be the sacred Triforce, and attempted to use its power by the time Zelda and Tri arrived. But the Triforce suddenly split into three pieces, with one going to Zelda, one to Tekom, and the third to Link in the Still World. Princess Zelda fought to protect Link from Tekom, all while in the presence of Null, until the villain was forced to retreat into Null's Body with its piece of the Triforce. Zelda freed Link from captivity and gave him back his sword so they can work together to recover the last part of the Triforce from Tekom. They venture into Null's Body to find Tekom merging with Null's core form, which they both previously encountered after the battle with Ganon, and managed to pull the Triforce piece from Null's grasp before using the reassembled Triforce to eliminate the threat of Null once and for all. With Null and the rifts gone, Tri says a heartfelt goodbye to Zelda, thanking her for all she has done, as it leaves along with its kind to parts unknown. The princess is then sent back to Hyrule Castle Town with Link where they are congratulated for saving the kingdom.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Creating Echoes: Using the Tri Rod, Zelda can learn how to create copies of objects and monsters called Echoes. She can do this either by interacting with sparkling objects or with "Shimmers" left behind by slain monsters. The number of Echoes that can be produced depends on the amount of triangles Tri possesses, as Echoes will cost one or more triangles to make. However, Tri can level up by clearing rifts which can cause more triangles to appear or reduce the cost of making Echoes.
- Bind: Zelda can launch Tri at objects and monsters to hold them in a magical beam. She can then move them around and utilise the environment to manipulate its hight or distance. She can also use this ability to pull things out of the ground.
- Reverse Bond: While using Bind, Zelda can allow creatures and moving objects to carry her around in order to reach different areas.
- Swordfighter Form: Zelda can use the Sword of Might to transform into a swordswoman. In this state, she can attack enemies with a sword and clear any dark webs in her path. She can also fire arrows and use explosives once she obtains a bow and bombs. The transformation requires a mysterious energy to use which can be replenished by collecting it in the Still World, defeating dark rift monsters, finding Might Stones, or by using a pot outside Lueburry's house. Might Stones can also be used to level up weapons and the energy gauge.
- Gadgetry: The inventor Dampé can create automatons for Zelda to use against foes. Once she placed an automaton, it must be wound up with a Clockwork Key in order to make it move. Dampé can fix an automaton if it is broken but at the cost of a few Monster Stones.
- Horseback Riding: Zelda is able to ride a horse with ease and can summon one by leaving a carrot for them to munch on.

- Not counting the CD-i version, this marks the very first time that Princess Zelda is the main playable protagonist in a main series game that is canon to the series while other incarnations tend to be the deuteragonist.
- It is theorized that this version of Zelda could actually be the "Era of Light and Dark" incarnation, given the fact that the game uses the same engine as the switch remake of Link's Awakening and the map of Hyrule is identical to A Link to the Past. However, this would not explain why she did not recognize Link in Echoes of Wisdom or why the rifts did not appear in previous games. Regardless, it is possible that the game takes place in the "Downfall Timeline" in which the other games occur.
