Biography[]
Early Life[]
Arthur Douglas was born in Burbank, California to unnamed parents, and has an unnamed sibling due to him having a niece years later. Arthur became a real estate agent and jazz musician, and later met and married Yvette Steckley, and the two had a daughter named Heather. One day while driving across the Mojave Desert from Las Vegas, a spaceship passed overhead that held Thanos. Wanting to keep his existence a secret while doing surveillance on Earth, Thanos destroyed Douglas family in their car.
Unknown to the Mad Titan, however, was that his father Mentor had been monitoring his activities on Earth to examine his son's work. Mentor discovered that Heather was still alive, and took her to Titan to raise the child, and she later returned to Earth as Moondragon.
Becoming a Hero[]
Mentor became determined that the threat of his son could no longer be ignored, and wanted to create a powerful being to defeat Thanos. Mentor enlisted the aid of his father, Kronos, and the two seized the astral form of Arthur's living consciousness, and created a humanoid body to cast Douglas' spirit into it. The two also gave the body superhuman powers, and Mentor blocked Arthur's memories of his past life, and Douglas became Drax the Destroyer.
Drax became Thanos' nemesis, thwarting his plans, and having a deep hatred for him. One battle between them led to Drax befriending Iron Man, and later become an ally of the Avengers when he was stopping Thanos from getting the Cosmic Cube. Drax finally saw the destruction Thanos with the aid of Captain Mar-Vell, Moondragon and the Avengers during the campaign of possessing the Cosmic Cube.
Afterward, Drax wandered across space after losing a reason to exist, and later attacked Mar-Vell out of anger for him destroying Thanos. The two battled until a mental construct of Rick Jones gave him the location of the resurrected Thanos. Going against Thanos once more, Drax attacked Gamora, an assistant of Thanos at the time. She escaped, but it's unknown what happened to Drax afterwards, as he wasn't present when the heroes of Earth defeated Thanos when he tried to snuff out the stars using the Soul Gems.
Annihilation Conquest[]
After the Annihilation war, the Kree Empire was invaded by the Phalanx and Ultron, and they proceeded to cut off the Kree from the rest of the universe. Drax was captured by Gamora and Richard Rider, who were assimilated into the Phalanx by the transmode virus.
He was infected with the virus, and was later assigned to hunt own Nova, as he had regained control of his mind. Drax and Gamora were cured when they tracked Nova to the Phalanx's home world of Kvch, and met with Warlock and Tyro.
The group assisted Adam Warlock and Phyla-Vell in destroying Ultron, and Drax became a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which was led by Starlord. Drax served with Phyla-Vell, Adam Warlock, Rocket Raccoon, and Gamora, and became one of the teams' more grim and solitary figures.
