Wade Winston Wilson, or better known as Deadpool, is a major character in 20th Century Studios' X-Men film series and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He is a Canadian mutant former mercenary and an intelligent, good hearted, determined, altruistic, ironic, and crafty superhero. He gained enhanced physical attributes and rapid cellular regeneration from an augmentation program from Ajax and decided to get revenge on him for causing his deformity.
He is portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, who also played Hal Jordan in Green Lantern, Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity, Paul Conroy in Buried, Nick Walker in R.I.P.D., Guy in Free Guy, Michael Bryce in The Hitman's Bodyguard, Richard Messner in Smokin' Aces, Cal in IF, and voiced Guy in The Croods, Pikachu in Detective Pikachu and Theo in Turbo.
He's also voiced by Yasuyuki Kase in the Japanese dub, (who also voiced Kankurō from Naruto series).
Personality[]
Deadpool is intelligent, good hearted, immature, heroic, altruistic, childish, ironic, crafty, loyal, and determinate as he really cares for the people who he loves especially his girlfriend Vanessa and Russell, although he is scorbutic before and after becoming a hero. He also left his girlfriend Vanessa so she wouldn't have to be burdened by him while while he was looking a cure for his cancer, caring more about the quality of their relationship than preserving it. However he did that only because he was insecure of this new aspect in their relationship, and when Vanessa accepts his circumstances, the two completely reconciled and back together.
While Wade is in a relationship with Vanessa, he is attracted to men as well, so when he finds one attractive, he sometimes flirts with them, regardless of gender, although this could also be due to his comedic personality. Deadpool generally delves into immature conversations with anyone, but with teens and pre-teens, he becomes moderately more bratty to mirror and mock their younger ages, with the exception of Yukio, who is the only person he always talks nicely to due to her sunny disposition.
Deadpool dislikes and aims to avoid paying money for anything, as he ditched the bill for Dopinder's taxi services and didn't seem to even pay for the pizza that Jeremy provided him with. Deadpool also enjoys chatting about pop culture, particularly movies and celebrities. While it was always an aspect of his personality, his humor is also a defense mechanism he uses to disguise his emotional and physical pain, the latter coming from his healing factor, since despite being able to recover from almost any injury, he still feels the pain of the damage and rapid recovery.
While Deadpool patterns himself as a "superhero," he holds no compunction about murdering his enemies, with the killing often being exaggeratedly bizarre or sadistic for the sake of comedy. Upon having Ajax/Francis at his mercy, Colossus attempted a speech about morality, but Deadpool merely executed Francis before the X-Man could finish; Deadpool realized that if letting monsters live is a requirement for a superhero, he'd rather not be one, and acknowledged he isn't a role model. Nevertheless, Deadpool can be pushed into being a more "noble" person, since after he is involuntarily made a mentor by young Russel Collins, and learning of the child's evil future as Firefist from Cable, he understood that some occasions means he he must rise above his own instincts as to help another person avoid falling down the same dark path that he did.
While he always had habits leaning on the peculiar, and affection for outcasts and oddities, his transformation significantly reinforced this trait. He quickly became enamored with Peter, who was an average looking man, but he had a mustache, was slightly pudgy, and above average height, thus unique enough to be appealing; Peter was the only dead X-Force member that Deadpool bothered to save with Cable's time travel device, thus showing how much he sincerely liked Peter. He also became invested in saving Russell from his dark future, as he was overweight and a victim of abuse, the latter happening to Deadpool in his youth, thereby he empathized with the boy. Deadpool became immediately infatuated with Dogpool, despite how hideous she was, and allowed it to lick his mouth. His strange preferences also made him sometimes disdainful towards anything too beautiful, if it lacked any flaw or trauma, such as his attractive variant, Nicepool, who he treated with veiled threats and unintentionally caused his death by using him as a human shield - since he only wanted to hurt Nicepool, yet was unaware that he lacked their healing factor; even so, he felt indifferent to the death, or rather, more thrilled at the prospect that he could now be the owner of Dogpool, the ugly, ratty, malformed canine.
This preference or adoration of abnormal or unique elements seem to be a universal constant for every Deadpool, as every member of the Deadpool Corps opened fire even when Nicepool was in their line of fire, but stopped shooting while Dogpool was in the way, and were all instant admirers of Peter.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
After Ajax' experimentations & relentless torture sessions, Wade also gained the following abilities:
- Superhuman Strength: Wilson's strength was augmented by Ajax's serum, causing him to be able to lift well-built human beings above his head, send Ajax flying through a wall by hitting him with a fire extinguisher. He was also able to block Ajax's physical attacks.
- Superhuman Mobility: Wilson's agility, balance, and body coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete. He also has hyper reflexes, being able to catch Ajax's axe and throw it back at him instantaneously. He can also perform complex parkour & acrobatic maneuvers with ease & without concentration.
- Near-Instant Cell Regeneration: During his transformation, he was given regeneration abilities which are similar to Wolverine's regenerative healing factor, which allows him to regenerate from fatal wounds near-instantly. He is even capable of limb regeneration within an hour or less, however reattaching a limb takes mere seconds. Severe ballistic wounds take only a few seconds to heal completely. These accelerated healing powers are responsible for his near-immortality.
- Superhuman Resilience: He can exert himself to peak capacity for several hours. He is also far more tougher than normal human, being able to take hits from beings like Ajax, who also has superhuman strength. He was also able to keep fighting, despite him having broken bones, hands & feet. However, he is not immune to pain. He was even able to hurt Angel Dust with his head, without being hurt himself.
- Awareness of 4th Wall: Though not a useful power in combat, it seems like his ability to address the audience and knowledge of other meta subjects are another mutant ability because when a mutant-nullifying collar is placed on him, he no longer talks to the audience nor references other Marvel media. It eventually proved useful in the threequel as he was already aware of the mechanics of the TVA and could plan on how to defeat an omega level telepath like Cassandra Nova from knowing about Magneto's helmet, which was not public knowledge.
Abilities & Skills[]
Wilson is an expert martial artist and sword fighter.
- Very high intelligence: Wade have a really great intelligence which he can use for elaborate some great plans like killing Ajax so he can't continue to torture and transforms people in mutants, make the X-Force or ally with Cable but only talking with Russell and he understands rapidly the mechanism of Cable's dispositive for traveling in time, the collars that deactivate mutants' powers or the futuristic gun of Cable. He was also able to master multiversal navigation with a TVA TemPad.
- Swordsmanship Skills: Two swords which he can cut the enemies.
- Edged, Blunt, and Projectile Weapons Expert: He knows everything on weapons.
- Improvised Weaponry Expert: He is able to adapt anything he can carry into a deadly weapon.
- Martial Artist and Firearm Skills: He is totally skilled warrior in martial arts and in firearms.
Weaknesses[]
- Brain Vulnerability: Ajax is shown stabbing a knife right into Deadpool's brain and it was able to make Deadpool temporarily unable to think clearly or continue battle for some seconds, which proves that keeping a knife inside Deadpool's brain will slow down or even terminate his healing factor and therefore Deadpool actually is mortal to a knife in the brain.
- Cancer: Despite was removed, his cancer will back if his powers are neutralized with technology who removes mutate powers, the cause who his cancer was never removed completely but being removed only when Wade have his powers if his powers are removed the cancer will back merely regressed to its original stages at an accelerated rate as is showed when him have a collar who deactivate his powers when he is imprisoned in Prison Box and was lost his forces and was even in going to die but when he was fight with Cable, his adversary accidentally broke his collar making Wade recover his powers, his force and the salute permitting him to fight greatly Cable, so having his powers removed is a deadly fatality to him unlike the other mutants.
- Gluten Sensitivity: In the sequel, Deadpool claims he cannot eat gluten despite his frequent mentions of chimichangas.
- Attention Deficient Hyperactive Disorder: Wolverine asked if he had this syndrome, which he confessed to not knowing, but presuming. His erratic behavior and endless chattering seem symptomatic of the disorder. While it is not a detriment to him in general, he can unknowingly antagonize people worse than he aims due to an abundance of energy and lack of focus.

Trivia[]
- After the film's release, a feud broke out between Ryan Reynolds and Tim Miller over the direction of how the sequel movie should go. Reynolds spoke out against Miller for wanting to make the movie darker and more similar in tone to the other X-Men movies and not as light-hearted and comedic as the first one. Miller defended the sequel needed a different approach. Miller outright quit to avoid getting forcibly removed from the film by Reynolds and so Miller settled for different projects such as negotiating with James Cameron for Terminator 6.
- According to Cable, in the future Deadpool is dead, however after Cable saved Deadpool in the present timeline he remains alive.
- Cable himself may be dead, as Deadpool & Wolverine has Deadpool mention that everyone on X-Force had died (though, could just be referring to the roster before Cable joined him; not to mention that Cable was never a X-Force member anyway.)
- Both of Deadpool's movies hold the record as the 2 highest grossing X-Men movies and in terms of global revenue, the highest grossing R-rated films.
- Wade Wilson's nationality and citizenship is Canadian.
- Unlike the comics, Wade's brain is not constantly having its cells regenerating and causing his insanity; he is already completely nutty.
- When he meets Blade in the Void, he makes a joke of not knowing if they would or could work together again, which is a reference to Ryan Reynolds working in Blade III with Wesley Snipes, who had infamously dysfunctional behavior, and poor attitude to others working on the film, which was corroborated by other costars like Patton Oswalt.
- Deadpool described Wolverine's cowl as like Batman, but being able to move his neck, which is a reference to how the Batman costume restricted neck movement in the Tim Burton-Joel Schumacher quadrilogy and Batman Begins, although was rectified in The Dark Knight onward, with the correction being maintained in subsequent franchises/versions.
- Deadpool's adamantium katanas and Logan's skeleton allow the first appearance of adamantium in the MCU, which had previously used vibranium, another fictional Marvel metal, but used it in cases that were originally adamantium (such as Ultron's body) because Marvel Studios had not yet acquired the film rights for the other metal.
- Deadpool & Wolverine was the first film of the trilogy to reach $1 billion in the box office, the eleventh MCU film to do so, and incidentally the highest grossing film to feature any X-Men characters.
- His variant name is WW1076, the 1076 part is a reference to Ryan Reynolds’ birthday: (10/23/76).
