This article is about the mask used in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers.
Description[]
The Halloween 4 mask was created to replicate the effect of the original white, blank mask, which was a modified William Shatner mask. This mask is especially blank, with minimal definition of the mouth and cheekbones. The eyebrows of the mask are thicker than those of the original and the hair is tidier and fits closely to the skull. The mask also had the smallest eyeholes in the series, almost identical to those of the original Captain Kirk mask.
One scene was shot with a mask, which had a pink face and blondish hair. The mask is clearly visible when Michael attacks Loomis at the Haddonfield Elementary School.
Story[]
On October 30, 1988, Michael Myers awoke from his coma and made his way across Illinois, his face covered in gauze bandages covering his burn scars. As soon as he reached Haddonfield the next day, he visited Vincent Drug Store to procure a new mask, finding one similar to the ones on sale at Nichols' Hardware Store ten years prior. Michael gave his niece Jamie Lloyd a fright by stepping up behind her reflection while he donned his new mask. Michael wore this mask during his killing spree that night. It was last seen as he plummeted down a mine shaft.
Variants[]
- Hero
- Reshoot blonde type
Reception[]
Halloween 4's mask has received a primarily mixed reaction from fans. Many have stated that the mask's appearance is too blank. Some have found its expression to be more clown-like than the original. The quality of the mask has also been criticized as it appears more flimsy than the others. Others have praised its emotionless “manufactured” style look, citing its similarity to cheaper store bought masks.
