Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments Completed challenges

Once you’ve completed the prompts for one month, please post the details here and we will confirm your entry to the draw.

Requests:
1. Please say which task you’ve chosen for each prompt.
2. Please include a Goodreads link to the book and author.* If it’s not obvious, please say how the book meets the task requirements - for example if the task was to read a book set in a capital city then say which city the book is set in.
3. If you’ve chosen a task that relates to the book cover, please include the cover in your post (sometimes Goodreads defaults to an edition of the book with a different cover so this will make sure we can see the right cover).
4. If you’ve completed a task that asked you read a book from a choice of lists then please say which of the lists the book appears on.
5. If we have any questions about how a book you read fulfils the prompt then we’ll reply to your post asking you to explain it for us, so please do check back after posting. We’re a pretty relaxed group so this is just to make sure everyone has an equal chance to earn draw entries. :-)

* To add a link to the book click on “add book/author” above the comment field.

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments It’s exciting to see people completing the first month’s tasks already. :-)

Please could you include links to the books and authors you read for each task? I have just updated the first post to add instructions for doing this if you’re not very familiar with Goodreads.

To be fair to everyone participating in the challenge we have to check that books meet the task requirements and I can’t do that without a link to the book. For example, there are two books called “Ghost Beach” in Goodreads and one of them is less than 100 pages so that one wouldn’t count for the challenge.

Storm for task four, the first letters of each word in the title need to be in either beach OR swimming pool. Please see the FAQs for more details.

Kelly, Goodreads shows that this book was first published in May 2017 so unfortunately it doesn’t look like it fits for this task. Maybe you could count it for one of the July or August tasks and read another book for this June task.

You can read any prompt at any time. The prompt doesn't have to be read in the allotted month.

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments Wow you guys read fast! :-)

Monkiecat - that’s one more draw entry for completing June. You’re welcome to complete the whole challenge again. If you want to earn another draw entry you need to complete another four tasks for each month (12 in total) and they have to be different to the ones you’ve already completed.

dalex - you have three draw entries for June, July and August. You can earn one more draw entry if you complete all twelve prompts again but using different tasks to this time. And, you probably know already but although you’re welcome to complete a third round for fun, the maximum number of draw entries is four. :-)

Deborah - you have two draw entries for June and July

Milena, Helene, Ellie, Lieke and Jody - you all have one draw entry for June

Nari - if you want to earn a draw entry for June then you need to link to the books so we can check they meet the requirements of the challenge (please see details in the first post of this thread). Or if you’re just enjoying the challenge and don’t want to earn draw entries then you can ignore this request. :-)

People can earn one draw entry for completing each month’s prompts. There will then be a draw at the end of the challenge and the person who wins will be invited to choose a prompt (subject to the moderators’ approval) that will be included in the 2020 reading challenge. If you just want to complete the summer challenge for fun then that’s totally fine too. :-)

To link to a book click on “add book/author” above the text box you write your message in and then you can search for the book and author there.

Hope that helps! :-)
