This is a fated mate, reverse harem paranormal romance. Expect a fast-paced instalove with one harem member, and a slow burn for the others.

Sexy vampire royalty, curses, an evil cult, and ancient prophecies all stand in the way of Lana figuring out why her mom vanished twenty-six years ago. Do her answers lie in the fae realm?

She thought she had seen the world. She had no idea the fae have a world of their own…

Thirty-four-year-old Lana Chapman-Sawyer has an MBA, zero student loan debt, a successful travel blog, and curves for days.

What she doesn’t have is a family…

Lana’s mother vanished when she was only eight, her father was never in the picture, and her adoptive parents died in a car accident when she was thirty, leaving her orphaned once again.

When Lana receives a strange package with a magical key in the mail, she decides to take it to her cabin deep in the Northern woods of Minnesota, the very place where her mother abandoned her.

Little does she know, the neighborhood is not exactly as she remembers it…

Osgood "Oz" Finlandian is your average next-door multi-billionaire humanitarian and businessman. He just so happens to be a 5,500-year-old vampire.

And not just any vampire. He’s the first vampire ever created. The King of Vampires who rules over the royal court.

He’s also the one to tell Lana about Bedlam, the fae realm, and the locked witch powers she never knew she had.

But unbinding her powers is only the beginning …

Oz, who has a dark past of his own, promises to help Lana uncover the mystery behind her mother’s disappearance, and the two of them take on several quests, all the while facing ancient prophecies, recurring dreams, an obsessed witch, and an evil cult hot on Lana’s tail.

Too bad Lana also has to navigate her way through irresistible desires in the process…

This is a reverse harem, paranormal romance with witches, vampires, fae, and time travel. Other members of the harem will join in subsequent books of the series.

DNF @ 30%

Okay, i’ve never DNF’ed a book on here, but I simply had to. I have no idea why this book has so many high reviews, It was painstakingly awful. The entire time I felt like I was choking down the words of a 15 year old who’d taken to Wattpad. It’s unrealistic, the world building is poor, the ‘fight-scenes’ are abrupt and underdeveloped, not to mention the main characters got married after three days of knowing each other. There are no words on this Earth that could probably describe the disgust I felt trying to get through these pages. Never again.

Dnfed at 20%

Normally I wouldn’t dnf a book this early, but I just can’t with this book. I understand it’s fictional but this was just wayyyy too unrealistic. The characters have zero to no personality, the MC finds out all this life changing information from a dude she meet a few hours ago and all she thinks about is sleeping with him?? Smut in chapter 3?? Oh honey no. I get faast paced and if you like that good for you but this is beyond fast. A 5,500+ old vampire who falls head over heels for an absolute stranger and claims to be completely in love with her? Absolutely no. Just no.

If you like all these things in a book and you enjoy this book that’s great!! Good for you! But this is definitely not what I expected. There’s absolutely no tension or plot or world development or anything that you’d expect from a book based on the summary. I’m sorry if this is negative but I just can’t with this book.

Twilight meets A Discovery of Witches meets Blood and Ash meets ACOTAR but make it a spicy reverse harem. 🔥🔥🔥

SPOILERS FOR THE BOOK BELOW

It probably sounds too good to be true and in this instance, it might be so. Nevertheless, the cover is stunning, it reminds me a little of the FBAA cover and the sequel looks to be inspired by ACOTAR. I think inspiration is healthy but if there is too much of an influence it could be a bad thing.

Before reading I forgot all about the blurb. I only knew this would have vampires and when I reread the blurb while reading the book I was shocked to discover this is a reverse harem and I, unfortunately, think it's not written in a way that shows that. Lana Chapman-Sawyer is a 34-year-old travel blogger who doesn't know she is a witch and had her powers bound. She meets Osgood Finlandian, a mysterious vampire and they hit it off with insta lust and an obscene amount of insta love. Strike one. That's a horrible name for a hero. Strike two. Insta lust isn't a really good trope in this scenario (or ever). I will ignore it for now though. They fall in love and they are trying to uncover the mystery of her mother's disappearance. These two are fated mates, who are engaged 5 minutes into knowing each other. They are each other's loves of their lives. Then Gideon Cathal, an Italian Casanova vampire and Auguste Grey, a closed-off Tom Cruise meets Tom Hardy apparently, enter the scene. There is some light flirting and they are, you guessed it, the supposed new members of the harem. There should be, according to the blurb, a slow burn between these two new pairings. Strike three. There was flirting and a slower insta love with Gideon and an absolute gobsmack of an insta love with Auguste. They had two conversations before getting all the feelings out. The way the harem starts is also borderline cheating. The guys aren't all on the same level which is in this particular story quite weird. And if that's not enough, she also gets pregnant and married in the span of this book. 🙈

If that's not enough for you, I have more. The best friend doesn't question any of the otherwise shocking revelations Lana tells her and I have to question that. Next, the fast pacing of this book isn't very favourable. The characters like to have extreme, harsh, irrational reactions to superficial, normal things. They are too over the top, unrealistic and borderline fake. It's a little theatrical. Now, I may seem a little harsh but I kept hoping it would get better. There is a lot of smut in this book and also humorous banter and some references to pop culture. All of this I consider excellent additions to the book. I think the story suffers from the author's decision to make it a reverse harem. She decided in the wedding scene to change it and I wish she would rewrite it or just do it differently. 😞

I believe the writing isn't in itself bad, the pacing yes, the characters' actions too, but the language used is absolutely fine. I think the author has great potential but I'm convinced this book needs a rewrite or editing before she publishes the sequel. I would love to continue the series if I had any guarantees the pacing and the actions would get better. The originality could be spiced up a bit too, copycat books aren't it. I got extremely strong vibes of A Discovery of Witches series by Deborah Harkness, the Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, also a little bit of Twilight and the ever so popular A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas.

I'm giving the author a bonus half star because it's her debut novel and I want to help her with my review and not harm her ratings much. I hope she sees my review as a constructive way of getting inspiration for improvements. ❤️

This is certainly a book!
The most cringeworthy Twilight inspired material...and I WILL be finishing this train wreck of a series.

I don't understand how this book has any 5 star reviews.

I'm only 7% in and I don't want to finish. It reads like a Wattpad story. It's very poorly written.

The beginning started off well but it very quickly took a turn for the worse. The inner monologue was good, the story was being told and we were getting a feel as to what's to come. Then this man shows up in the night (they're in the middle of nowhere) and does she question it? Does she consider that she's in danger? For like 2 sentences before all she can think about is fucking this man. Then he invites her to his house, she goes without question. And then immediately finds out she's a witch with magical powers, that she somehow has never used before? Even by accident? But can immediately call upon it in his house. Still all she can think about is fucking him. And how she trusts him. And knows he'd never hurt her. You don't know him??? The heck. The fmc doesn't have even a sliver of intelligence.

This book was phenomenally bad. There aren't enough good descriptive words to let y'all know how much of this book just doesn't make sense.

Let's discuss what we know going into it. It's an instalove reverse harem. Okay, cool. But, the love is literally instantaneous. The FMC meets the MMC at the beginning of the book and is already in love with him by the end of the night, essentially.

Then, the FMC turns into the Avatar half way through the book. She finds out at the beginning that she's a witch. Then, although most witches only get one power, she gets like... five??? Almost all at once? So, she's ultra special just because (as far as the first book is concerned), she finds her long lost dad, she mates and marries a 5,500+ vampire (the FIRST ever vampire, btw) and two of his best buds, she travels the world, she time travels, gets pregnant with twins, gives birth, and then finally goes to the other world. This ALL takes place in, like, 6 months. Most of the time spent is also just SKIPPED. So, even though it's 6 months worth of time, it really only goes over like a month and a half's worth of story TOPS.

In addition, we get this really out of pocket characterization switch. At a certain point in the book, there are people getting executed for being traitors to the crown. At first, FMC is so distraught over the idea of people dying that she literally runs away. One of the traitors goes to kill before she knows she's pregnant. The would-be killer tells her that she's pregnant. After the attack, the FMC suddenly is okay with the death penalty because she's now a mom. So, hear me out, that characterization switch MAKES SENSE after a traumatizing event. It does. But that switch happens upon her waking up from recovering from her injuries. In her perspective, she doesn't really acknowledge any time passing, so there's no build up for her changing her mind on that.

The spice is also kinda mid, to be honest. Some of the parts leading up to sex were good, but the actual sex was bland and mostly uneventful, which is a bit of a let down considering it's a romance novel.

Anyway, 0/10 on the book, but a 1-star rating for the absolute absurdity that was this story. I never was invested because none of it made sense.

P.S. It was heavily Twilight-inspired on the vampire physiology, which isn't bad, but just a heads up in case anyone was wondering.

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️5
Spicy content 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5
Spice quality 🔥🔥🔥/5

This book has so much potential. However, I just feel like it was very rushed.

In this book, we follow Lana, who is a witch, but at first doesn't know it. Then suddenly she meets Oz and then not a chapter later they are in love and then very quickly they are engaged.

Like I get that insta love and insta lust is a thing. However, this was just way too quick, in my opinion.
There isn't much said about her powers except suddenly, she can time travel perfectly without being taught.

Then, the rookie time traveller moment, she tries to change the past, which would see her not exist. But if that was the case, then she wouldn't have existed to travel back in time.

The original thing was yo find out why her mum went missing, and while yes, we found out, it just seemed anti climatic because now we still don't know where she is.

Then, all of a sudden, Lana is in love with not only her husband, who is the king of vampires, she is now suddenly in love with two other vampires that her husband sired. She also spends a great deal of time apprently fighting her feelings and feeling guilty but still sleeps with them.

Then she finds out she is pregnant with twins and gives birth within a chapter. And then has to leave. I also don't understand how one of the twins can be one of the other vampires when they can't have kids, but it alluded to that she got pregnant in her dream.

I understand this is the authors first debut book, and I hate to give a somewhat bad review. But I think this probably should have been thought out a bit better.

There are so many things to like about this book, I just for me felt like there was too much overshadowing those things.
I will continue the series in hopes it does get better =]

Where do I start? This was such a page turner! I didn't have to sit through chapters and chapters of boring monologue. We pick up right where heroine meets hero and it's hot-hot-hot. This isn't paranormal suspense. It's paranormal romance, so love comes first, BUT. The plot!! Throw what you know about vampires out the window, and the origins of witches. I've never seen this done before (if you have, please give me recs because I am obsessed). I read this in one sitting.

Let's talk instalove. Very common in paranormal romance, and not normally my thing (I usually read paranormal suspense), but I'm glad I kept reading. Why? Because it's a reverse harem(my first!). One is instalove because he's literally her fated mate. The others? She denies them until the very end. How stupid would a reverse harem be if she fell in love with them all at the same time at the end of the book? Hero knew the moment he saw her that she was the one prophesied to be his.

Hypothetical:
What if this wasn't fated mates? Throughout the entire book, we can see the effects of trauma on the main character. It's in her thoughts, actions and words. PTSD can numb feelings or cause them to be extreme, no matter the circumstance. All it takes is a trigger. The heroine's issue? Her source was abandonment. She was 8, you guys. She still manages to be thoughtful of others, let out her playful side, and put on a brave face (despite failure).

I am here for emotionally wounded heroines. She's imperfect. Broken. Screws up (a lot), but in good faith. Trusts far too easily, or not at all. I don't want a special snowflake for a heroine.

I know I say this a lot on my reviews but geez louise I LOVED this book. I was not sure I was going to, it started off real fast but that ended up being for the best, as this book it jam packed with goodness. That is, in my personal opinion. As it is going to be part of a series it does end in a cliffhanger but those never bother me as long as I know another book is coming soon. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. If this is Kathy Haan’s debut novel well I say well done because I am now a fan. The cover, I have to mention is what caught my eye and made me stop and read the synopsis and give this book a try. A good cover really does go a long way, at least in my world. Any who if you want to read a wonderful paranormal romance with a reverse harem, that includes 3 very old, strong, and loving vampires and a whip smart but emotionally wounded witchy heroine, well I recommend this book. You will enjoy all the growth and connections of the main characters and side characters as well. Mrs. Haan did a wonderful job creating this world. 👍

Barely made it three chapters in. There is little to no character or world building. The main protagonist immediately only wants to sleep with the vampire literally 3 hours after meeting him, and at the same time she gets told so much life changing information that she doesn't seem to care about. I felt left behind as the reader, and I actually checked to see if I had missed a prequel or something because I was super confused about what was going on. It felt like I was supposed to already know the main character is a witch. The writing itself reads like a 15 year old who writes fanfiction for the first time. I get that it's fiction, but because there's no time spent building a relationship between the reader and the characters, I don't care about anyone in the story at all. They don't have personalities other than wanting to have sex. I'm sure there's a plot in here somewhere, but I genuinely could not find it. Not for me, thanks.

I absolutely adored this book.

Travel blogger Lana is back at her family's cabin trying to find answers about her mom's disappearance when she was younger. While there, she meets a gorgeous man named Oz who offers to help in the search, and reveals much bigger secrets than she could have ever imagined. Lana finds herself in a world of magic and its creatures, as well as a whole horde of attractive people and their secrets.

The book does eventually turn into a why-choose/RH, so make sure you are comfortable with that before reading. If you are... I just know for a fact you're going to love Gideon. I definitely like Oz, but Gideon has the banter of an antihero with the loyalty and heart of the perfect hero. I desperately need more of him in the second book.

I really enjoyed the writing style and flow. I did appreciate the disclaimer that witches and vampires feel and love deeper and faster than normal humans, because I would have felt it became too heavy too quickly otherwise, making it harder to connect with the love story. The world was nicely built, with a visual form of magic that I found comforting in its realism. The use of real crystal and plant properties was a perfect inclusion and shows a lot of research by the author. I hope this continues with the journey into Bedlam.

The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is that sometimes it felt like the plot was lost (it always got back on track) and some of the dialogue felt inconsistent for a specific character. With the title of Bedlam Moon and the early mention of it, I assumed there would be more description of Bedlam or actual time in Bedlam. For the vampires, I felt like some of the language was too formal in some scenes. While I get they are really old and have different speech patterns, Gideon talked a lot more casually than Oz, which felt inconsistent if time is the reasoning.

FYI, there is a cliffhanger, but it isn't too bad. There is enough suspense around the ending, but it felt like a good place to stop before the second book. Overall, a really fun and addicting read.

A search for answers with vampires

An interesting read. Initially thought this was going to be a revisit to True Blood like territory. Thankfully it was a bit more. Good paced read. Each chapter was well thought out. Liked the world the author created. It is filled with vampires, witches, fairies and magic. It is a paranormal romance. Fun to see Lana, the main character, trying to figure out things about her mother and that search leading her elsewhere. Enjoyable read.

I feel bad giving a 1 star, but this is my rating scale, and it is what I give to a book I DNF as it takes a lot for me not to finish a book.

No hate to the author.

If you're looking for a semi smutty wattpad-type of book, this is most likely a great fit. I made it about 30% and it just wasn't for me. It just didn't make sense, lacked depth, and I just wasn't having a good time.

Lana discovers she's a witch and her neighbor at her family's cabin is a vampire. The main plot revolves around Lana trying to discover what happened to her mother, along with strong romantic elements.

What I loved about it was how fast paced it was. The plot started very very quickly. Ironically, I also found this the book's biggest downfall. There was instant love between Lana and Oz. Lana stayed at Oz's house, a complete stranger, the first night she met him. There's a cool fight scene about twenty percent of the way in, but it was over much too quickly.

Because the plot was so quick, I didn't get attached to the world or the characters. Scenes were over in the blink of an eye.

However, the writing is done quite well. The details were involking and interesting. The editing was great, along with the format. This book deserves great success.

I'd give it 3.5 stars, so I rounded to 4.

This book was really good! It took me a little bit to get into it but once I did it was good. We follow the story of Lana who is coming back to her childhood cabin to find out where/why her mom left when she was 8. She meets Oz in a whirl wind romance and we see their relationship developing and we find out about both of their pasts. Soon we add Gideon and Augustine to the harem and more surprises. It leaves us at the end when she is going to Bedlam without those she loves... Who will she meet and how long will she be gone? The things uncovered in this was great and I am so excited and I can't wait for the next book to see how the story progresses. I received this as an advance copy for an honest review.

Lana is looking for answers regarding the disappearing of her mother when she was just a child, but soon finds a lot more than what she bargained for... Powers she never dreamed of having emerge, together with a love that is destined to conquer all. But together with love and dreams, follow nightmares.

I had a very hard time rating this book, altering between three and four stars, so I'm gonna settle on four. First of all what I liked is the fact that this book is quite original, with vampires being more cute and loving than dangerous and possessive. The way this develops into a reverse harem is also different than most of the other RH books I've read. But... those same things seem to be the reasons why I personally had a hard time with the development of this story. The fact that I'm aware it's entirely personal makes me give it a four star rating, because it doesn't say anything about the book itself or the way it is written. I just had a hard time feeling connected to age-old vampires who don't shy away from showing their feelings (including crying bloody tears).

It left me wanting. (Spoilers)

3.5/5 stars

Spice 3.5/5

Bedlam moon had so much potential. A book that was supposed to be about finding Lana’s mom became more about Oz, Lana and their budding relationship. Personally, their relationship was lacking, there was so much missing. The author had a tendency to put too many details where it wasn’t needed and summarized the most important details. It made it hard to connect to the characters much less the book. I wish the characters had more depth. I loved the characters but you just couldn't connect they way you need or want to. There's no development, nothing.

When Lana met her father-a huge moment for her- it was summarized, and left me wanting more details. The plot had holes, some things weren’t explained enough, and most of the book was unneeded filler. When explaining “prophecies” it was mostly about her sleeping with the other vampires, it just wasn’t well thought out. The prophecies should have been about more than just s*x.

The “spice” in this book was 3.5/5. It was like someone who never had spicy time wrote it. It just needed more umph. It lacked plot because of all the "spice". It was every other chapter at least. While were on spice, some scenes were just plain cringy with the way it was worded. The backdoor? Seriously. Steel length? Stuffed in the most delicious way possible? Cringe. Mound? Ick.

The book is supposed to be a why choose, but the majority of this book is about Oz and her. Then towards the end the other two are just thrown in. And then surprise, she's pregnant and gives birth all in just a few chapters. It's all just rushed.

There's not much on finding Lana’s mom, not much on her learning her powers, it just left me wanting more. Not to mention when Lana does learn some powers she hardly struggles. She goes from hardly knowing anything about magic to being able to time travel with no effort. Every time it mentioned finding her mom, it felt cold and forced. Most of the time I even forgot she was still looking for her mom because the book was mostly about Lana and her men.

This author has potential, they have a way of describing things. There's some parts in the book that will make you laugh, cry, and just plain get mad. But, overall, it could have used more. This book was just a miss. I will attempt to read the rest of the books because I would like to know what happens.

Wow, I don't know what I was expecting when I picked this book up - maybe some magic/paranormal beings and spicy scenes, but I definitely got much more than that. I absolutely love the dynamic between Lana and Oz throughout the entire book and how their passion only grows through the twists and turns they're required to deal with. Then to add in Gideon and Auguste is just a happy bonus.

I'm super excited to see what the next book has in store for all of them and as much as I will spend the next couple months guessing, I doubt it will be anything I expect.

I really tried to like this. I read 80% of it and DNF’d it. This felt like it was written by a 13year old. The fight scenes were literally nothing. The random skips in time tells me the author did not fully develop their thoughts for the novel and needed some ideas so they just skipped weeks/months at a time. The sex scenes were laughable at best. The storyline just wasn’t enough to get me to finish this book.

FYI. No one in the history of ever says “Pound me” or “I want you to take me” during sex. This genuinely feels like it was written by a teenager who has been watching too much porn.

I’m sorry, I try not to leave brutal reviews, but this was bad.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a well-written, fast-paced read with a relatable FMC. She is searching for answers surrounding her mother's disappearance when she was a child. She finds out more than she could gave imagined in a world of magic. She has an awesome best friend and mate that help her adapt quickly. This is a very slow paced reverse harem, but plenty of steamy scenes throughout. This book ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read the next book!
