All my life the only kind of magic I’d ever seen was the sparkling jewels on fifth avenue. On the night of my sixteenth birthday all hell breaks loose, and by hell I mean me! I never felt power like this, so dark, so tempting, so out of my control! No one is safe around me. And now I’m being thrown into Warwick Academy.
An academy for the darker side of magic. . .the warlock side.
My captor, my savior, and the bane of my existence, Beckett Dust insists on keeping me here even though we can’t stand each other. I don’t care how drop dead gorgeous he is or that he rules the school like he owns it, I need to stay as far away from him as I can. His deepest desire is to turn me into a weapon in the great war to come. My deepest desire is . . .him. There’s a thin line between love and hate and right now I’m walking it.
I stopped reading about 27%. I just can't stand a mc who is freaking out, crying, not listening to reason and screaming in her head. I like my characters a little more mature and less spoiled acting.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. Firstly, I love Megan's Witch Court season. When I realised this season would involve Beckett, I was looking forward to learning more about him. Honestly, I thought there might be a bit of...bridging at the start of this book. I know the least about Beckett from the last season, and I don't feel like I know him much better now. I was hoping to know why he left to go to the trials, why he kept his warlock abilities a secret, why he isn't happy to go back. There are hints, but...guess I'll get over it. I'm loving we get a blend of old and new characters here, as well as new magic. I'm also really loving the way Medusa plays in this season. What I can't put my finger on is why I am not feeling the love for Beckstrid they way I did straightaway for Zinucker (yeah that one's not sexy). Becks is doing his thing, and may be a tad over protective, but Astrid seems to have zero respect for Becks. Maybe it's the whole 'warlock' thing, but even in her private thoughts she thinks he's hot, but controlling, and that's about it. Guess I want more for Becks. Zinn had respect & awe for the power of the other queens and knights, but Astrid really, for me, is only about her. She (privately) acknowledges Cross & O are tough and scary - nothing about Maze, but personally, I love how the uses the tarot - gets annoyed with Logan, and no 'Dang, Becks...you're faster than Daddy's jet, and I don't even need my passport. That's so cool'...just saying. All that said, Iike this new court, the new magics, and definitely Medusa. I will definitely keep reading this season in the hope Beck's gets the happily ever after he deserves, and I get to know his history.
This book is so freaking good and just as amazing and addicting as the first season! Loved and adored these two so much. When she finds out she has magic and is a warlock its just so hard for her to believe at first. I really enjoyed the ride they are on and learning more about them and I truly can not wait until the next book as I need to know more and what's going to happen!
I really tried to like this author, but there are too many typos and there isn't enough detail provided. For example, the main guy gets upset with the main girl because she doesn't understand the gravity of several situations. Except no one has explained the details to her. One could assume that they explained them and it was left out of the book, but since it's a book telling a story, that would be a dumb choice on the author's part.
This book was unbelievably awesome. I absolutely love Beckett . I thought I loved Tuck but Beckett 😍 but he need to grow a pair 🤷🏽♀️ Astrid is on bad@ss Queen I love her she’s so awesome. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
This sounded like a lot of other ‘academy’ based PNR/UF series I’ve read recently, but boy, was I wrong. Astrid is kidnapped on her 16th birthday and whisked off to another realm full of magic, where she is informed that she is the missing Lockwood heir.
Now, she has to deal with bitchy classmates, a sinister headmaster, fellow heirs that may (or may not) be using her as a weapon in an upcoming war. Her magic is impressive, but on the fritz for the most part. Beckett is her captor/mentor/BF and he isn’t that happy about the attraction. So, what’s a girl to do? Whatever the hell she wants.
Oh my goodness… What a start to season two. I love the direction it started out with and the connections need to season one. I can’t wait to get the next chapter and see where season two leads us
So I should have read the other series (the witch court one) first as I guess it would lay more back story to this book. That being said I think I got through this and figured it out OK.
I like Beckett hes addictive, curious to see how that goes. I like Astrid, love that name for a start and I liked her.
Wasn't too much shes super duper and her powers don't really show, hopefully it gets better so shes less a dud and actually powerful.
Astrid is just a normal girl heading to her birthday celebration with her best friend Tilly. She has no idea when she meets a gorgeous guy on the street that her life is about to change completely. Astrid is actually a warlock, and tonight is the night her powers are going to reveal themselves.
Beckett, Cross, Maze, and Ophelia are on a mission to find a powerful warlock whose powers are about to show. They have no idea it's going to be the girl they just saw on the sidewalk. No matter what though they have to get this warlock back to Warwick. They need this warlock in order to help align the warlocks with Queen Zinnia.
Astrid freaks out obviously because magic isn't real. She soon realizes that she's wrong and that magic is very real and she is very powerful. She can create anything she wants with her mind. Apparently it's actually rare and she is the most powerful one they've had in a long time. She is told she comes from one of the founding bloodlines and her last name is actually Lockwood. The Warlock Council however believe she's an impostor and needs to prove herself. The way she has to prove herself is finding her family grimoire.
I have loved this series since the first book and could not wait to dive into more. Astrid is so awesome and I am loving meeting all the warlocks. Maze has definitely become one of my favorites. I always love the crazy ones lol. And oh my gosh I want a demon cat for a pet!!! I love Odin!!! There is obviously a lot of drama in this book that will keep you on your toes. Plus you get to meet Medusa and another fallen angel.
The adventure continues from the Witch's Court to the Warlock Court. Now that Queen Zinnia is on the throne the objective is to reclaim the Warlock Court from the interim council members and combine forces. Beckett was always so hot and one of my favorites and having him lead the charge in this effort is thrilling. Astrid is just coming into her powers and they are a doozy! I love that Ophelia and Cross are major players in this one as well. This is just starting and she's already made friends with Medusa and had dealings with her sisters. If you like practical magic, monsters, angels, and academy life then this is a book you'll enjoy. Be prepared, once you start it will be extremely hard to stop until you're through. At least that has been my experience with The Royals. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
I love the quests & personal growth that Astrid had in this book. She is one of my favorite witches now. I am wondering if the moon shape she got at the sorting ceremony means she is supposed to be a Queen to? I loved that Beckett finally is interested in a girl. And I really loved how you wrote poor misunderstood Medusa! I love that Medusa is just in need of some girl time. Her lair sounds amazing. I would make regular visits to her, just so she has a friend. Life has to be so lonely for her even with a cell phone. Her other sisters leave a lot to be desired though. I hope in the next book Beckett will finally start sharing how he feels about Astrid with her instead of confusing her so much. I don't want to wait for the next one!
Gotta love a book that starts off with a party and a kidnapping! Welcome to magic , Astrid! Still in the land from The Royals, we now go to the next phase in the witch war. This read is very entertaining, fun and a bit of mythological education. Highly recommended reading!!
Good start to the next season. It is set in the same world as the previous one, but can be read as a stand alone. The storyline was interesting in this one, but I didn't really like the heroine as she seemed a bit whiny. It wasn't bad enough to keep me from reading the next book to see if she grows and gets better, however.
What a way to start off a new series! I mean, talk about heart stopping, snarky, filled with magic, and a one eyed demon. The author really knows how to keep you needing more!
Love the main character Astrid, she is spunky, mouthy, and as stubborn as you can get... She definitely keeps Becker on his toes and does the exact opposite of what he wants her to do... Can't wait for the next book!!!!!
Astrid and beckett omg these 2 I love them both so much, I can't say much about this book until I have read the rest of the series but I have a feeling once Astrid ascends then things are gonna get funnnn can't wait
First of all, everyone "sucked in a deep breath" way too frequently. My other complaint- female main character was very immature and impulsive. Kinda whiney. lets hope for character growth bc I loved the 4 guys Maze, Cross, Logan, and Beckett.
Astrid is a warlock that didn’t know about her powers when Beckett takes her to Warwick academy. She is learning who she is and of course it wouldn't be Megan if we didn't have a complicated romace blossoming. The ending will leave you screaming for more.
This book was amazing. I would have finished it alot sooner but damn life has to happen. I love Astrid. She's simply amazing. Hard headed and full of Witt. I can't wait to see where the story goes. Highly recommend
I loved how the characters dealt with each other. Astrid and Beckett will will be great together if the queen of witches can keep Astrid's magic from hurting her. As I said, excellent experience.
So far I am luving this series. Action packed, l luv how all the characters are coming together. I had to laugh at the sand worm they reminded me of that movie tremors with Kevin bacon can’t wait for the next instalment.
This book was absolutely amazing! The characters were well written and their were times when I was laughing so hard I was crying. Great world building.
5 Stars for Greg characters and story telling! I loved looking into Beckett's life and get to know a little more about what he is trying to do for Evermore.
