Her Shifter Harem's Babies #1

Omega Phoenix: Claimed

Rate this book
Cyra, a rare Omega phoenix shifter, has had a rough week, to say the least.

First, two playboy Alphas, a hydra and a griffin, start showing up at the cafe she works at. Their teasing making her all hot and bothered, no matter how much she tries to ignore them. And then she accidentally accepts to play a princess at a spoiled shifter kid’s birthday party, where her crappy old car promptly breaks down. Luckily, or maybe she’s just cursed, a cerberus and a centaur Alpha are there to save the day and give her a ride home.
For years, Cyra has managed to hide herself from other shifters, pretending she’s human. Because she doesn’t want her parents to marry her off to a rich asshole Alpha for money and status or to be kidnapped and bred like some other rare Omega shifters. She wants her freedom, to be able to make her own choices, and both of those things are taken away the moment she’s mated. Once she’s claimed by an Alpha, she’ll become that Alpha’s property, and she refuses to live like that.

But now everything she’s worked so hard for is falling apart around her. Money is tight, and with her crappy car constantly needing repairs, she won’t be able to afford the medication she needs to stay hidden from shifters, especially with the mating season only weeks away.
So she makes a reckless decision and takes the cerberus and the centaur up on their offer to be their date to the yearly Night Gala, an exclusive shifter event for bachelor Alphas, Betas and Omegas, though it’s not uncommon for humans to attend too, as ‘dates’ or serving staff. Their offer is too tempting, one night of boring chats while looking pretty, and all her money problems will be solved.
That is, until the hydra and griffin Alphas also appear at the Night Gala and everything goes to hell…

This is the first book in the Her Shifter Harem’s Babies series, a paranormal Omegaverse reverse harem #WhyChoose story. This book may include any of these elements: steamy scenes, ‘I need tissues NOW’ moments, cries of ‘why, oh, why’ and cliffhangers that make you bite your nails (and curse the author). This story includes MF and MM scenes.

It's got a pretty simple plot with very minimal world-building. I'm actually unsure how much humans know about the shift world and why different "species" are able to inter-mix, but they do. There are things happening in this book that seem like they will be explained in the next book (fingers crossed). It's a slow-burn, frustratingly so. Overall the confusion that I get in this book makes me want to read the next to to clear it up.

I thought this was a very good story. I loved all the characters. They weren't all perfect men and had flaws, but they all knew that Cyra is their mate. She on the other hand wants nothing to do with mates and is hiding out from the shifters using every means at her disposal to keep her scent covered and to keep herself from going into mating heat. This is their story and it is really good. I would recommend it.

The writing style leaves something to be desired. It does not captivate my attention and makes me want to skip chapters to get to the heart-melting parts. The rapid shift in POVs also makes me lose focus, and is very redundant. Not to mention there is hardly any difference in the feel of the "voice" of each character. They all feel and react the same way unless they are being talked about in third person.

The plot in the story is really not interesting *spoiler alert* because is just about her not wanting to mate due to possible forced pregnancy (which yes is a big issue) and the way it is written it makes the story feel very shallow and boring.

Probably won't continue the series...

Pure cringe

I don’t know why I keep falling for books like these and waste my money. A friend suggested I read this because I like fanfiction so ,ugh, but every time I pick up one of these paranormal romances, I want to throw my iPad away. I’d enjoy the story more if the dialogue wasn’t so eye roll worthy and the heroine wasn’t a cardboard cutout. The sex scenes are far less interesting with the lame dialogue and first person POV. It reads like every other “romance” I’ve had to trudge through

Enjoying the story, though the writing itself could use improvement

As I mentioned in the header, I'm enjoying the story itself. It's about one of the rarest Shifter types of all - a Phoenix - who also happens to be an omega. In a world where Omegas have practically no rights, this could mean a jackpot to whoever got her hands on her, even her parents. She takes suppressants so that no one knows she's a shifter at all and can pass as a human, living in the human world and working an everyday job at a café.

She gets invited to a party by a couple of Alphas who want to help her out financially, but she refuses their charity. So, they offer to pay her to come with them. This also means they won't have to talk to people they won't want to, so it seems like a win-win. At the party, however, her suppressants wear off a bit, and the two Alphas who invited her, as well as two others she knows, get a whiff of her and realize she's their mate. They take her away from the party so no one else can scent her, but someone takes photos of them leaving and post it to the news, accusing the Alphas of sneaking away with an unknown omega. Eventually her parents come forward and start to play it in their favour, claiming they had no idea where she had been the entire time (a lie), that she had been kidnapped, she had an arranged alpha mate already (another lie), and now the world is out to get them. All the Phoenix wants to do is live her own life, but that's impossible now.

A couple of the guys (Zack in particular) are a bit annoying. He and Spence are notorious playboys. Meanwhile, the Phoenix hasn't even had a first kiss by the time the story begins. When her heat hits, they all take her without any thought. If even one had maybe saved himself and gone first (despite their instincts riding them), it may have been nicer, but this wasn't the case. If they find out by the next book that it was her first time and they grovel hard for taking her the way they did, I'll approve. If it's not even touched on, I'll be pretty disappointed. Why bother mentioning the first kiss and stuff at that point at all, then?

Also, the writing itself: The author seems to be a fan of repeating herself. To press a point home, she repeats sentences. If you read the book, you'll know what I mean. It's fine if done a couple of times, maybe, but not nearly every chapter. It gets annoying.

If these books were available on KU, I'd keep reading. It's still a good story, and I enjoyed it overall. However, after looking at reviews and noticing that the books have to be purchased and are NOT available on KU, I think I'm going to pass on finishing this series.

In the majority of omegaverse/shifter why-choose PNRs I’ve read, the mates know each other beforehand (or at least some of them do, as in this case where we have two pairs of mates for the FMC), often instinctively knowing they’re going to be paired to the same mate one day, and are pretty comfortable with the concept of “being pack” as it were. Not the case for this book; in this world, multiple fated mates are unheard of. The MMCs have a lot of aggression/jealousy issues to work through. Too much hitting each other and growling drives me nuts, but I know some people love the possessive thing… I’d just rather live in a world where my mate wants me to be happy no matter who I’m with, where it’s a turn-on for him to watch me with my other mates, and he doesn’t feel the need to punch the ones I love. 🤷🏻‍♀️

In most of these PNR novels, the mate bond, once claimed/consummated/whatever, is sacrosanct, and can’t be invalidated by law—again, not the case in this one, where apparently the parents’ choice of mate takes legal precedent over the omega’s desires (unsurprisingly) and the one to claim her first (more unusual) and the omega’s fated mate (unheard of).

This book has FMC meeting her mates while disguised as a human, beingg forced to reveal the truth to them, while her controlling parents that is obviously going to get worse before it gets better. I was so stressed out for them!

I like a more realistic character arc, where everyone is able to separate themselves from their instincts/hormones and fall in love for who they are as people, not just because mates or scents or whatever. A lot more character development and getting to know one another has to happen for these five before I’ll be satisfied with their HEA, but hey, that’s why it’s a series, right? Only one MMC drops the L word, and it’s the most impulsive and girl-crazy one of them, so that checks out. None of them have their stuff 100% together, all of them have some form of possessiveness, hang-ups, and/or phobias that need to be dealt with. And I think the author is kinda self-aware on that front, or at least this book was good enough that I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

The prose needs work. The author thinks that the correct possessive plural for Max is Max’ [sic] and there’s an annoying tendency to repeat sentences or phrases that just needs to be toned down a bit.

This book is awesome. Cyra has hidden her identity to keep her parents from marrying her off to a rich Alpha. Cyra has been taking meds since she was young to hide her shifter side so every shifter thinks she is human. Her parents think that if they make things hard for her, she will come back home.
Cyra has been a waitress and working at an agency playing a Princess for little girls birthday parties to pay for everything. Just her luck, two male Alpha shifters had started coming in the diner that she workers at because they have been kicked out of several others because of one of them. Both flirt with Cyra and Audry, the other waitress, when they serve them but do not take it further.
Cyra is running short of her meds and it is coming up to the winter season when she goes into heat and needs more meds to combat that also. She does not pay attention to where the agency needs a Princess for a birthday party because the other person broke their arm. Normally, she stays away from shifter parties. The uncle of the birthday girl, Daisy, shows up and later on his best friend shows up too. Both also are Alpha shifters. They help Cyra take all her props back to her car but it will not start. They offer to give her a ride home and will deliver the car after it is fixed.
Several days later, she finds them at her home with her car. Cyra will not accept from them for paying for the repairs, so they have a party they must attend and hire her as their date for the night for intelligent conversation.
Anything and everything that could go wrong at the party happens that night while they are there. It is a shifter party and the other two shifters also show up.
Get your copy to see what happens next and who all the people are and what kind of Shifters each one is. And find out why Cyra has hidden what she is for so long and why she thinks the way she does.

Cyra a rare Phoenix shifter hides what she is and Omega if anyone finds out she could be sold and be made into a baby machine so she hides she can't even trust her parents they just want what they can get out of her shes a commodity not a person. Everything was going good until she starts running out of money and her car needs repairs but she needs money to keep taking her meds so she can have independence not be controlled by and Alpha. But one party and a good dead backfire now not one but 4 Alphas are her mates but not so fast her creepy parents have other plans can Max, Liam, Spencer and Zack keep her safe and what happens if this mess isn't fixed before she has her heat.

This RH was interesting but parts of it seemed too drawn out there seemed to be allot going on Cyra complained too much about being independent the chemistry was drawn out too long for me and the additional MM interest seemed out of place with everything going on if done write and introduced earlier this would have worked very well but it just came too late in the book for me then a major cliffhanger. This book could have been done all at once instead of 3 parts all the controversy at the beginning could have been condensed in order to wrap the book up in one story.

All of this is my personal opinion and knowone else's this isn't a bad read just way to drawn out for me then ended abruptly when it was finally coming together as a book. This is my honest review of 3.4 stars and I was allowed and advance copy threw Booksprout.

Rating- 3
Heat- 2.5 just one scene but it’s a group scene
Tropes- MMFMM, fated mates, scent match, omegaverse, multi pov

This book had some very good things going for it, but in other ways it missed the mark. It mixes omegaverse with shapeshifters and mythology. They aren’t just ABO, and they don’t just shift into animals like wolves. They shift into mythological creatures like the hydra, dragons, and centaurs. Sadly, in this first book we don’t really get to see this with the exception of the centaur, but the concept is unique enough to intrigue me.

The first few chapters had me hooked. Cyra’s introductions to her fated mates were fun to read. You could feel how drawn they were to each other without realizing why. Unfortunately, the pace slowed way down after discovering they were mates. It had the feeling that the last 2/3 of the book was supposed to be relationship driven but the relationships failed to be built. With the exception of Max, I couldn’t figure out if she actually even liked the guys. In fact, the most annoying of the men is the only one she exchanged I love you’s with and I couldn’t help but wonder when exactly she went from disliking him to loving him.

I always am desperate to see wrongs righted, and Cyra’s treatment from her parents is a wrong I really want to see avenged. I had to accept that I won’t get to see that when I realized the books weren’t on KU. I downloaded this first on Stuff Your Kindle Day. While this is a series I would have continued if it was free, I am not willing to pay for the additional books.

Cyra is a rare omega Phoenix pretending to be just a human by using suppressant drugs so the alphas won’t scent her. She wants her freedom, to be able to make her own choices of who she wants, but both options would be taken away once she is mated. If an Alpha claims her, she will become that Alpha’s property, all choices taken away, and she refuses to live like that. And just as bad, Cyra’s parents have big plans for her! Not for her happiness, but so they can get the most money, prestige, or whatever else they can scrounge from their rare shifter daughter.

But now everything is falling apart anyway because money is a problem for her. With her car constantly breaking down and needing repairs, she won’t be able to get to work and earn enough to afford the medication she needs to hide from the shifters, especially with the mating season only weeks away. What can she do to keep herself hidden? Once she goes into heat, shifters will scent her from miles around! And when two shifters who helped her with her car need a “date” to a party, without thinking she accepts to pay them back for helping and ends up putting herself right in the midst of other Alphas!

I always feel so bad for the Omegas. Sometimes they get an Alpha who treats them right, but most of the time it seems they get a bossy jerk who treats them as the property he thinks they are. Grrrr, don’t like that! Enjoy this start to a new series and see if all goes well for our heroine.

I do not know why, but I was expecting the same ol' shifter reverse harem romance. Find perfect harem, get pregnant, deal with some villain, everyone lives happily ever after.

The author delivered us much more. The main heroine is an Omega and if that is not enough of a curse for her, she is also a rare type of shifter. In her shifter world that means a cage, not even one that is guaranteed to be gilded. The entire time you will be hoping for her HEA. Each of our shifter hunks are just that, hunks. The author delivers the each characters arc in a way that you can easily understand their plights and personalities. Each hunk is experiencing alpha pressures and each has reservations with finding a mate to meet their society's or families expectations.

This book will end in a cliff hanger, but the author does a phenomenal job of leading you to the cliff, instead of just let you fall off into the oblivion.

On a side note, the cover is misleading, there is not a pregnant Omega running around, at least not yet.

It's okay. I was a little lost in the beginning and felt like it dragged on but once I got to around the third chapter it picked up. I'm in it for the drama but I definitely feel like this could've been a one book series. I'm not sure how the pregnancy works in this "world" but I guess men get pregnant too if they're omega? I would've liked a bit of back story just so you don't start off with "I'm an omega hiding as a human taking heat suppressants." There is hardly any spice in this one and to be honest, I was mainly interested in the book because I wanted spice. I also didn't cry or feel any "tear jerky" moments like the description stated. The orgy is hot but like I said I don't know how pregnancy works in this word so will it be one of the alphas baby biologically or will it be a combined version of all of them? Maybe this will be answered in the sequels. Also, I did also listened to the audio book and did not care for the male reader, his voice just didn't do it for him and the way he changed his tone for the female parts were laughable. Hard to take him serious. Again, I'm in it for the drama now...

There are a lot of things that I like about this story: the omega storyline, the characters being rare species of shifters, the MM potential, the characters being drawn together from different groups/backgrounds. Don't get me wrong- the story is interesting, and there's certainly enough heat to satisfy the RH audience. I also like that the feelings are mostly on a track that I find very believable. I think the only thing that doesn't mesh for me is the author's writing style, which is definitely more of a me thing than being an issue with her. There's just something a little lacking in the nuance of how things are written that I look for in the series that drag me in and then hold on to me for dear life.

This was one of those ebooks I picked up during Stuff Your Kindle Day, and I thought it would be an Omegaverse book, but this one was more of a shifter romance. It’s a prolonged burn; they never really hook up since they were all kind of on the run. They are all fated mates and trying to work through the logistics of it all since it’s rare to even have a pack like this, and fated mates are rare. But Cyra is a super special omega, and she just wants to be able to live and work on her own and on her own terms, so she’s always felt like whatever alpha she gets stuck with will take all of that away and expect her to just start popping out babies. This one ends up leaving us on a cliffhanger, and I’m curious to see how these guys will end up since they are still on the run when this book ends.

WARNING this book ends on a real cliffhanger. I did enjoy reading this book until the cliffhanger, which I didn’t know about. It was a bit better than many of the reverse harem books I have read, I don’t read many but decided to read an ARC of this one because it said that it was ltgb. There are two guys who are making eyes at each other but it doesn’t go much further in this book. This book does have less sex and more talking about feelings and situations than other reverse harem books that I have tried. It also goes into shifter society and laws which hopefully will continue in the next books as it was well written and really made the story interesting.

An Excitingly Original Tale
In “Omega Phoenix: Claimed” Cyra is an omega Phoenix living as a human, working as a waitress, where she meets two alpha shifters, Spence and Zack. Cyra is suppressing her Omega scent so that she can live a life away from her parents but finds herself attracted to four alphas from four different clans. But Cyra’s parents have plans for her. Her parents want to get the most out of their “rare” shifter daughter. This is an exciting tale with drama suspense, twists, and lots of hot steamy chemistry with four different mates. This is a wonderful start to a new series and I look forward to the next installment.

Cyra is a rare omega shifter and is hiding that from everyone. But a hydra and a griffin alpha shifter started to show up at her work. And when her car breaks after a party a centaur and a cerberus alpha shifter help her. Now the four alphas are all around her and her heat is very close! Not only that but apparently she is their mate! Things are really going down for Cyra.

I loved this book. Medium burn and sexy and handsome hunks. Cyra is pretty much an independent girl who hates the idea of being dependent of alphas. And the guys? Zack is the pigtails guy. Spence is the sweetie but naughty. Liam is the crazy nice one. And Max is the sensible one. They are soooooo good. Can't wait for book 2!

Good so far

This is pretty good so far. I'm a little thrown because its a bit different from the usual shifter books I read. I wouldn't necessarily say its a bad thrown off but it had taken some getting used to. So in this one we have cyra pretending to be human to hide her omega scent. She's been on her own for a while because she doesn't agree with her parents about how she should live her life. Thrown in 4 alphas and cyra running low on her suppressants and u got one crazy scenario for them all to figure out. The heat scenario is definitely different compared to other books and the life of an omega part too. Also her parents seem like a**holes and I would love for someone to punch them lol I'm curious to see where this is going.

Very enjoyable story with some great characters. The men had some flaws as all men do even if they are Alpha shifters. Cyra is suppressing her Omega scent so that she can live a life and find the mate that she wants. Instead, she finds 4 Alphas. The first two are a hydra and a griffin, they there's the cerberus and the centaur. That about round up the Alphas that are circling around Cyra. I love that they just don't jump into bed together that there is a slow burn as they get to know each other. I look forward to the next book. This is the story of an unwilling omega and the hand she is dealt. Cyra is an omega phoenix but she is posing to be human. However having g ends meet is difficult. She is asked to a party and even though she knows the guys asking are alphas the need for money is greater. When she is at the party and meets two other alphas is where the trouble begins. Her parents play a game she isn't willing to play. Her alphas are helping her the best way they know. Now how to deal with er parents who come with their own alpha whi is to mate her. Can her alphas keep her safe?

Cyra hides at being an omega shifter by pretending to be a human she doesn’t want to be the property of some alpha unless it’s what she chooses but her medication and money are running out so she takes a job to play a princess at a shifter party but along the way her car breaks down two shifter males help her and she accepts a date from them to go to a party. I’m not going to get too much into this story because the blurb really says it all, this story ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read book 2 and I highly recommend this book it’s well worth the read.

A very slow burn reverse harem romance. It gives you a bit of time to get to know the 5 principal characters in the book and gain an empathy for them. But the crushing cliffhanger has me angry at the moment and I have to wait until December for the rest of the book! Did I mention I hate cliffhangers! That said the book is filled with enough adventure and romance that I will have to wait until December for the rest and it is an engrossing world that Layla has brought us into. An excellent read.

Just out of reach of being captivating

While the overall plot of this book was a very good one, and the trope has always been an instant love for me… There was no heart and soul to this book. There was no character building or arch of any kind. The FMC goes through the whole book doing nothing but whining about everything. The writing style was not my cup of tea either.while im curious to know what happens next, and hoping it gets better, I’m not sure if I’ll be reading the second book.

Cyra is a rare omega phoenix shifter and has hidden this part of herself to prevent her parents from marrying her to some rich alpha shifter. She takes medicine to suppress her shifter scent so everyone thinks she’s human. With money being tight, how will she get the funds to buy her meds? I enjoyed this fun, exciting entertaining romance.
