Damn Disney, and all their happily-ever-after, unrealistic, bullshit stories.

Keatyn is not your average teenage girl, and this is not your average ya book. Keatyn is a sixteen year old girl who lives her life by the perfect script she has been writing for as long as she can remember. She is the daughter of a famous actress, America’s sweetheart, Abby Johnston. She lives in Malibu and has everything any other teen could possibly want. She is dating the most popular guy in high school, friends with the most popular girls. She has it all... or does she? Keatyn sometimes feels like it’s all a lie. Her relationship, her popularity. She questions what it is she really wants. What type of person does she really want to be? Maybe it’s time to write a new script. One where all parts of her life can come together. It’s not as easy as it seems...

 photo ab150e5d-8b90-40ad-8047-f59f918e4ccc_zpsd3220e13.jpg

After ending her relationship Sander, her ‘perfect boyfriend’ and deciding to be just friends, Keatyn can go after who she really wants. Her best surfing pal and the guy she has been crushing on for FOREVER, Brooklyn. Brooklyn is chill, laid-back. He isn’t into the whole popularity thing. He is a few years older than Keats and he just wants to surf and hang. Keatyn has that side too. She loves to do those things. She wonders if she and B could possibly have a relationship. Now that she’s single, he seems to like her. Or does he just like hooking up with her? After ditching her for some surfing buddies, she starts hanging out with her good friend Cush...

Brandon Cushman. Cush has had it bad for Keatyn for a while, but she was always with Sander. Since Brooklyn ditched her, she gives Cush a try.

 photo f1e43895-9411-4a33-b100-051a39c9450f_zpsd9423a7a.jpg
“I swear to God, I think my panties just melted off my body. How can Crush just talking sex make me hot?”

It is impossible not to love Cush. He is so sweet, sexy, and he makes Keatyn feel like she is perfect just the way she is. All of her.
But does she really love Cush, or is he just a friend? When the mean girls from school interfere with their relationship, will it be able to survive?

Brooklyn gets back from his trip, and she realizes the whole thing was a misunderstanding. He didn’t ditch her to chill with other girls. Since Cush is out of the picture for the time being, she decided to chill with Brook for the summer...

 photo 3dafb1a7-fcb1-417a-9166-048850ce877e_zps33b37169.jpg
"A thing of beauty is a thing of joy forever. It’s Keats. For my Keats.”

Brooklyn is another boy you will love. He brings out the carefree, fun and laid-back version of Keatyn. He quotes her poetry, gets tattoo’s with her, surfs with her. She hangs with B and her buddy Damian (another guy you will love) most of the summer. She loves doing all the surfing and chilling with Brook, but he can’t really accept the part of her that loves to dance and go clubbing, who loves to shop and dress up. Can she be with someone who doesn’t want all of her? Only the side he likes?

Keatyn is back from the summer. On top of her complicated love life, there is some family drama. Her mom has a stalker. Someone who has been threatening her. And he has a new target. Keatyn. So Keats has to disappear for a while, to make herself safe. She is no longer Keatyn Douglas. Now, she is Keatyn Monroe. Keatyn has a plan for her new life at her new boarding school. A new script to follow...
I want people to like me, but I don't want to be popular. I'm going to make true friends. I'm not going to be a bitch or be fake, and I'm definitely not falling in love.

But all that changes when she see’s him. The God of all Hotties...
This guy is almost too perfect looking to be real.

 photo 01c85fec-9258-48d0-9d3b-c606417157da_zps33e22706.jpg

Keatyn meets many new faces at her new school. There are even more boys to add to the mix. A lot are cute, sweet, and fun. But no one catches her eye like Aiden. Too bad she isn’t going there. No relationship for her. Keatyn is kind of a hopeless romantic... You will have to see for yourself how long she sticks to that ;)

Stalk Me is one of those books that makes me want to be seventeen again... I want access to some of these hotties! Too bad I’m a decade too old for them. This book takes book boyfriends to a whole different level. I think I had at least 5 that I wanted in this book. Not only are the guys great, but you will fall in love with Keatyn. How many books have such a likable heroine? I want Keatyn to be my bff. Keatyn has a great heart, she is just a teenage girl trying to find herself. She’s not perfect, but she also isn’t a mean girl. She just wants to be her. Be real. Find people who like the real her. Thats not too much to ask, right?

Just when you think you’ve found your perfect guy, a new one comes a long and sweeps you off your feet! Here is a nice visual, so you can check out some of the hotties in Stalk Me:

Stalk Me is fast paced, well written, unique, fun, and fabulous! Once you start reading, good luck putting it down! I fell in love with Jillian’s writing and characters when I read ‘This Boy’ and ‘This Wedding’, but I have to say I love this series even more! This is probably my favorite YA series. Lucky for you, the first four books are out now so you don’t have to wait to find out what happens next with Keatyn and her many boys! For those of you who haven’t read this fabulous series, what are you waiting for?

Worst.book ever. And here is why.

Review with Spoilers

Let me just start by saying that I am so utterly pissed about this book. My reason to feel so has nothing to do with the fact that the main character wasn't very likeable. I mean, she is the daughter of Hollywood royalty, she is part of the popular girls, she is acts like a bitch then feels bad because she is acting like a bitch and want to change her ways, unfortunately is too weak to do so. I could deal with that. I could even deal with the fact that she couldn't make up her mind about which boy she wanted. She loves Brooklyn then she loses her virginity to Cush, then dreamy Cush acts out of character sending Keatyn back to Brookyln's arms again. But then Brooklyn starts to act like a dick and wants to change who Keatyn is, so Keatyn naturally breaks up with B and goes back to dreamy Cush. By then she realizes she actually loves Cush. That is when everything went down the drain and I was like are you freaking kidding me? What is this shit?

You see, there was a stalker problem in this book (duh, obviously look at the title). But the stalker problem seemed to be more like a subplot because Keatyn's love woes took central stage throughout the whole book. So, 70 percent through the story, the stalker problem takes over. Instead of that being the climax of the plot where the stalker gets arrested, Keatyn finally starts to act like herself and have a HEA ending with Cush, the author decides to let the stalker go free. Yes people, a guy who attempted to kidnap a teenager goes free merely 20 minutes after such an attempt, even before the police got Keatyn's statement just because the stalker is gorgeous and has money? WTF? (Okay, according to the author, the police did take Keatyn's statemente, however I don't recall reading about it. Such an important fact I shouldn't have to read between the lines or guess. It was not the first time that things weren't exactly clear in Jillian's books, so maybe she should take it into consideration next time).

And then, to make things more freaking unbelievable, Keatyn gets sent to a boarding school in New York and is forbidden to tell Cush what happened to her because it could put him in danger ,however she is allowed to maintain contact with Brooklyn, how does that make sense? I hate when authors push their plot agenda without consideration to common sense. And how do you want me to believe that the teenager daughter of an A-list celebrity could go anywhere incognito? She didn't even change her unusual name, just her last name. Talk about lame. That was the biggest bullshit in Stalk me and it made me change a possible 3 star rating to 1.

So yeah, I'm really angry that I wasted so much time reading Stalk me. This was me giving the benefit of the doubt. I liked That Boy but thought that That Wedding was weak. After Stalk me, I doubt that will be reading any more books by Jillian. Her writing style just doesn't do it for me.

Did I just read the same book as everyone else?

My rating for this book: 1 STAR (& only because I really liked Cush).

My main gripe with the story was Keatyn. She was wholly unlikable, and I could not relate to, or connect with her. I didn’t want to, either. She was a stuck-up, immature, spoiled ass brat that could not keep her hormones in check, and an attention seeking, flip-flopping, wishy-washy, people pleaser. To state that she pissed me off, would be a huge understatement.

Her so-called “friends” were freaks. They consisted of back-stabbing, high-maintenance, insecure sluts, making characters from Gossip Girl, and 90212, seem wholesome. That’s just not cool. And that shit’s just not fun to read about, either.

Oh, and the “romance” aspect of this story? HA! WHAT ROMANCE. I wanted to crawl under my blankets and hide. And I couldn’t help but wonder, does this shit happen in real life? Honestly, I’ve known a few promiscuous girls in high-school, but not really. I’m very familiar with the Malibu scene; unfortunately, not all “popular” girls are backstabbing sluts, nor are all surfers potheads, etc. The whole story was overly dramatic, exaggerated, and unrealistic. And, the story just jumped all over the place; I couldn’t keep track of all of Keatyn’s hookups, and mind-changes.

On that note, there were like, 5+ guys introduced in the story. WTH? Keatyn hooks up with multiple jerks, while going back and forth between multiple guys. Keatyn doesn’t have any self-respect, or self-control. She was too desperate to lose her virginity, which made her look pathetic (IMO). And, even before she loses it, she has commitment issues, and is perpetually confused about WHO SHE LIKES. The girl is annoying!

And the whole “stalker” issue was SO LAME. Honestly, I’m probably a horrible person, but I WANTED something bad to happen to Keatyn, because her dumbass almost deserved it, with the way she was acting. Ugh. STUPID GIRL.

I’m sorry. I just can’t stand stupid girls. And all the guys were ass-wipe, jerkoffs. Except Cush, until he got REPLACED – again & again.

AHHHHH!

If you value your sanity, and want a more realistic, and actually romantic read, without all the unnecessary, dizzying, overly exaggerated, petty high-school drama on the “evils of popularity” and “hooking up with as many guys as you can,” shallow ass story-line, then please, SKIP THIS ONE.

4.5 CUSHTASTIC STARS

Stalk Me by Jillian Dodd was a fun filled, angsty ride. It's a mix between Gossip girl meets Beverly Hills 90210 and I loved it. Keatyn is the type of girl you always wanted to be in high school. She's the popular girl with a closet to die for and a never ending list of suitors after her. Jillian did an amazing job of writing some good teenage angst with a twist. I found myself devouring this book and fully invested in what Keatyn was going through.

"Damn Disney, and all their happily-ever-after, unrealistic, bullshit stories." ~ Keatyn

Keatyn Douglas is not your average teenage girl, she is the daughter to a very famous mother named Abby Johnston and her stepfather is Hollywood icon Tommy Stevens. Growing up all she's wanted to do is be the popular girl, have the perfect boyfriend and have her life follow the perfect script (don't we all)!! But unfortunately life never follows the script we imagine and plan for ourselves and Keatyn's journey is pretty rocky. She has to deal with boyfriend drama, mean girls and fights to remain the person she is and not conform to her friends mean girl ways. On top of all that she faces a life threatening stalker issue that threatens her safety and leaves her life taking a new path.

Stalk Me is overflowing with swoon worthy boys. It seemed every time I turned the page there was someone to drool over! Jillian did an incredible job with writing these characters. It started out with Sanders, your typical high school golden boy. He was sweet and amazing and came with a pretty big secret (which you'll discover as you read). We also meet Brooklyn who is your typical surfer boy, his laid back personality and smooth boy charms are extremely appealing. He know's how to woo a girl and his Keats for my Keats (poetry) were pretty damn incredible. Brooklyn is a little bit of a bad boy in this story, tending to lead Keatyn on.

"A thing of beauty is a joy forever." ~ Brooklyn. "You're single. I'm single. Let's mingle." ~ Cush

Then we have Cushman!!! Oh girls (Mega swoon time). He had some amazing pick up lines!! Cush is the type of boy that you would have fell all over yourself for in high school. The boy you would have dreamt about at night and wanted to marry. The the type of boy that makes your heart skip a beat at the mere mention of his name! He's sweet and dreamy and caring but also is a little bit of a player which gives him this bad boy sex appeal. He has a major soft spot for Keatyn.

"You're single. I'm single. Let's mingle." ~ Cush

And last but certainly not least we have "The God of all Hotties," Aiden. This boy is so flipping gorgeous that he is called "The GOD of all hotties!" I mean come on, if for no other reason than that you need to read this book! Aiden was damn near delectable and I fell for him immediately leaving me torn between Team Aiden and Team Cush :/ It was that hard to choose.

Overall I felt this book was really fantastic and I'm so excited there is going to be six books in this series. I love that we will be following Keatyn's life and will be able to see her mature and grow. I really loved Jillian's writing and felt it was a fun, faced paced, sexy and filled with an amazing amount of drama. Her story took off and left me not wanting to put my kindle down. I would highly recommend this series. It made it to my favorites shelf.

Jillian Dodd still has my socks!

She knocked them off with That Boy & That Wedding and has decided not to give them back! I was a little worried before jumping in. I mean what if she comes down with a big case of suck!? It could happen!! It. Did. Not. Happen. Now Jillian Dodd has my socks and my knickers!

This book blew a fresh breath of different in all the right places. It was totally not what I expected! Speaking of...if you're expecting Stalk Me to be exactly like That Boy & That Wedding then you will be disappointed. If you're expecting a unique YA-mature read with sharp edge and an addictive story line, then slap your own arse because this is the book for you! If it wasn't for the high school setting, I would have sworn this was new adult.

Okay Keayton...I wanted to like her, I did, but I got distracted with wanting to punch her in the face. She stirred up a lot of emotions for me and whether the emotions were good or bad that is ALWAYS a positive thing. She's a 17 year old girl; she's gonna drive you crazy! She's having to learn lessons the hard way and it's extremely frustrating watching her do this!

Finally...

TEAM CUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked Cush from the beginning, the VERY beginning. He gave me Cush-lash! Stalk Me? NO! Stalk you Cush! Cush! Cush! CUSH!!!! Cush-me? YES PLEASE!

There's a scene between him a Keatyn that literally punched me right in the gut; I couldn't breath; I felt sick!! My emotions had emotions! I didn't understand why I was so invested, but I was...and I loved every second of it!!

I still can't decide if I liked the ending or not. Other than breaking my heart, it was like the last few chapters were actually the first few chapters of the next book. A whole new story! Very interesting, very different.

From the second I picked up Stalk Me, I could NOT put it down. It was unique, it was hot, it was sexy, it had Cush!!! You're heart won't be the only thing feeling, you'll feel it everywhere...EVERYWHERE!!!

READ ON!!

5 I am now a Stalker Stars

Yes, its true Jillian Dodd has officially made me into a stalker. This is my third Dodd book and I absolutely adore her writing.

This is series is a little steamier, and still has a ton of heart.

Keatyn Douglas is the daughter of a America’s Sweetheart she grew up having the best of everything traveling the world. Despite having privilege and wealthy Keatyn has always wanted a normal high school experience. She has been writing screen plays for how she thinks her high school experience would play out, her first kiss, and even the first time she falls in love.

As you know people rarely get their Hollywood ending, and things don’t play out liked she planned.

This is the first book in the Keatyn Chronicles and it lays the foundation for the rest of the series. We meet Keatyn, her awesome family, horrible best friends, the many men who love Keatyn, and one who loves her too much.

I loved the journey Keatyn went through. It is something that most girls go through at some point in their life. It is hard to balance who are and who everyone wants you to be. It is hard to decide to be you when being popular and going with the flow is so much easier. I love how Keatyn was a good person with good intentions, and didn’t want to be a mean girl.

What did I love the most? Cushman, yes this little high schooler had me "lets mingle." I loved him for Keatyn.

I couldn’t be more sold on this series, and I cannot wait to see what comes next for Keatyn and her friends.

4 STARS out of 5 STARS
Genre: Mature-YA Romance
Series: Book #1 in Keatyn Chronicles

Boy's Boy's Boy's Boy's
Boy's I do adore.....
*sighs*
Kiss me. Date me. Love me. Hate me. STALK ME. Yes this says it all.

Seems i found myself a new YA series to love Stalk me. left me wanting more and more. Thank goodness this is a six book series!!!!! YOU TOTALLY ROCK Jillian Dodd

Lights. Camera. Action.
When she said Gossip Girl meets Hollywood she was not kidding this book brought 'The Life.' The high life that is. Keatyn is living a life the average sixteen year old girl could only dream about. She gets to travel the world drive high end luxury/exotic cars, get into exclusive night clubs/parties and rub elbows with the rich and famous. Nice right? Yeah, I thought so too!

The Perfect Script
Keatyn Douglas is sixteen years old and is the daughter of Hollywood movie star Abby Johnston. She has a coveted wardrobe lives in Malibu and is dating a former child star. Sander. They make the perfect couple and everyone agrees. Keatyn is popular at school she is an 'It girl' and hangs with other 'It girls' her bestfriends Vanessa and RiAnne.
Everything that glitters...
Keatyn keeps up a facade that is something that becomes very clear. She is currently unhappy in her relationship and has been crushing on a surfer boy who lives down the street. Only problem is dating him is not even an option according to her bff's.
Yeah and what about them her so called bff's....
Vanessa and RiAnne are mean girls on steroids. They are calculating and phoney it's obvious Keatyn does not really like them so much. She more so...puts up with them.
Oh, and then in addition to all that her movie star mom has a fan who has just been bumped up to STALKER STATUS. Yikes!

Why you should read this book!
I cannot say much without giving too much away but i will say this. Keatyn's life revolves around
-Sipping champagne at parties
- Shopping
- Hanging on tour with boy's
- Surfing with boy's
- Starting a Feud with girls
- Kissing boy's
- and dropping it like it's HOT with boy's

**Slowly grins**And i enjoyed every second! This chick has the fellas wrapped around her pinky all wanting a taste. And she gives them each a nibble, hmph and some a bite. Stalk Me has so many twists and an ending that leaves you salivating for more. Is that a good enough reason?!*smirks*

Thoughts
I loved the writing and the way Jillian Dodd incorporated a script as a theme throughout the book. That was a nice touch. I also like how she has Keatyn living this double life with the pressure to act a certain way. It made her more personable and I found it easy to relate to her on that level. I am very excited about this series and i cannot wait for book 2.
The only thing i had a problem with...
Keatyn had way to much freedom i know that her lifestyle differs from the average. But... Her mom allowed her way to much freedom.

My Rating
Characters- Lovable
Writing Style- Fun, Witty, and Savory
Plot/Storyline- Unputdownable,Fast paced with a touch of Suspense
Stean factor- Medium/Moderately Steamy
Overall- I loved it!!!!

Now go forth and read. Then come tell us all about it on Goodreads!

I feel like I’ve lost a few brain cells. This book hurt to read. I was super excited to read this series. It’s no secret that I LOVED the That Boy series. But after reading this and looking back at That Boy, I think I was blinded by my pure love of Phillip and Danny that I just overlooked so many things. Unfortunately, for me, there were no likeable characters in Stalk Me, so there was nothing to hide behind. There will be spoilers in here, you have been warned.

Stalk Me is the story of Keatyn, daughter to a famous actress, whose life is ruled by money, glitz and glamour. It was like The Hills meets High School. Keatyn is 16, only wears designer clothes (which we are told in extreme detail every time), and only does things that keep her popular. She has to be the most self-centered, egotistical, idiotic child ever. Her inner monologue was like nails on a chalkboard. (Remember how I said it hurt to read this book?). It literally gave me a headache.

description

Everything in her life revolved around status and looks. Great message to young girls out there, by the way. Keatyn would never do anything if she thought other people would look at her negatively – this included dating/breaking up with boys and having an actual opinion. She cared way too much about what other people thought that there was nothing original about her.

Now let’s talk about her love life *snort*. Did I mention every boy is in love with her? Oh, well they are. There’s the California surfer dude, there’s the stoned rich boy, there’s the older sophisticated gentleman…and that’s only in the beginning. While she’s a virgin in the beginning of the book, she loses it about halfway through and then becomes obsessed with sex. Apparently it’s the only way to solve arguments. And yes, she’s still 16. 16 and drinking in public places and going off to Europe alone with a boy.

description

Ok, calming down…

Now, let’s talk about why the book is called Stalk Me. Keatyn’s mom has a stalker. So everyone in the house is put on high alert and told to avoid strangers and going places alone. Well, Keatyn (because she’s such a smart girl) decides that she doesn’t need protection and goes off on her own where she meets Vincent on the beach. Vincent is 30+ and immediately shows interest in our young Barbie. He’s a director and wants Keatyn to star in his movie. His movie -which is a remake of her mother’s first big role. Oh, and he also has a tattoo of her mother’s name on his arm.

description

So what does Keatyn do? Why she goes out to dinner with him and continues to see him and chat about his movie of course.

description

When the stalker is finally revealed (three guess on who. Anyone?), plans immediately come together to get Keatyn out of Malibu. She needs to be safe. Witness Protection anyone? Not kidding, this was an actual suggestion. But Keatyn, not wanting to be hidden, comes up with her own plan:

“What if he thought I was a whore? What if I did a slutty video? Wouldn’t he hate me and stop being interested in me?”

Umm…what?

That gets dismissed and they decide to send our precious princess to a boarding school in Europe using a fake last name so no one knows who she is. After some tearful goodbyes to the two loves of her life (the surfer and the stoner), she’s heading to boarding school where upon arrival meets two new boys.

Shocking, I know.

The last handful of chapters are spent with Keatyn making out with two different boys in two days all the while telling people she has a boyfriend back home. But wait, it’s complicated.

description

Disappointed doesn’t even begin to explain how I felt about this book. It was the most ridiculous storyline with asinine characters. Unbelievable situations with no emotional connections to anyone. And worst of all? Nothing was solved! While I have the next two in the series on my kindle, I do not know if I will continue it.

Reread Review

description

I want a redo of my high school experience with Keatyn Douglas as my best friend. Oh the clothes we would wear and oh the boys we would meet!

Keatyn is the daughter of a famous movie star and dreams of having a real high school experience. FYI her best friend is a gorgeous rock star!

“I wanted to live out one big high school musical”.

Keatyn has established herself as a popular girl, dating the popular boy all the while sitting at the popular table. Truth is she hates her girlfriends and her boyfriend is kind of a dud.

Keatyn has had a crush on Brooklyn her surfer pal for the longest time. The problem is, Brooklyn only likes the surfer/laid back aspects of Keats. “A thing of beauty is a joy forever. It’s Keats. For my Keats.” He hates her social life and fashion obsessions. Also, Brooklyn has professional surfing aspirations.

Then there is Cush….Cush goes to Keatyn’s school and definitely has a crush on her. He plays soccer and throws lots of parties. He is flirty and seems to follow her script:

“When are you going to dump The Sandman? Come play with Cush?

“You’re single. I’m single. Let’s mingle."

They seem to be a perfect match… but danger in the form of a STALKER threatens Keatyn’s safety. She will have to abandon her family and friends to start anew. She enrolls in a private high school under a new last name and persona.

Keatyn more than embraces her new role and the opportunity to do things differently this time around.

This school has a plethora of hot guys in attendance. A shout out has to be made to “The God of All Hotties” Aiden Arrington and that delicious quarterback Dawson Johnson. I can’t wait to read more about these two!

So don’t change that channel because these important questions need to be answered:

Is Keatyn safe at her new school?

Will Cush and Keaytn meet again?

Where can I buy all those amazing outfits Keatyn wears?

Is Eastbrooke accepting late admissions?

Jillian Dodd sure has a winning series with The Keatyn Chronicles as there will be six books overall so get started today!

"The Keatyn Chronicles are similar to a television series. The books do not stand alone and the second books begins the same night book one ends."

There are too many delicious guys in this series. Big swoon alert!

I love this series! I only reread the last 20 percent because it is in the next book things get super good! We have six books in this series, so this book sets the stage. You have to read it, but unfortunately the first 200 pages is exactly like Gossip Girl meets 90210.

I won't spoil it, but give book a chance! If you are the least into YA/NA and you haven't read it - then you've been seriously missing out. It is a happy book, with a tiny touch of angst. It is like a colorful jar of candy!

Don't expect realism and enjoy all the delicious boys <3. I really liked this one, but it is not a stand-alone novel so I'm kind of saving my five-stars to the next book which is one of my absolute favorites! Me likey love a lot!

I would recommend reading That Boy so you know what an amazing author Jillian Dodd is! She has a gift for creating yummy boys and a likable heroine. I am in awe! I might be one of her biggest fan. She is one of my absolute favorite authors.

Is this a meaningful romance with cute relationships and cuteness to die for? Haha NOPE! The blurb got us there!

Is it like romances with 5+ boys involving the same shallow girl who cares more about the relationship than the boy involved? Yeeeeeeeeeeeees.

And you know what else? It made me want to pull my hair out multiple times. Meet Keatyn Douglas, stuck-up spoiled brat, daughter of a famous actress. Prepare yourselves for one of my longest reviews yet!

She drinks, does drugs, and sleeps with her boyfriends, and her mother allows her to (notice how I wrote boyfriends with an "s"). Granted I guess it's better for her mom to know than to hide it from her mother, but you'd think there could be some regulation. This book glorifies these things, sending the message that if you drink alcohol, smoke weed or whatever, and have plenty of sex you will automatically be accepted into society's elite circle known as the "popular kids" in school. PUH-LEASE! As if we don't get enough of that in every advertisement or movie. I understand that many books have these things. They are totally normal in teen lives, but how are there no consequences to these things in this book? It's like a big advertisement! Smoke and you'll be the most smokin' hot chick on the beach!
This book also makes it seem like all surfers smoke marijuana. LOL the surfer dude stereotype. And the "Romance" in this book? Utterly pitiful. Utterly.

Let's go through the romance sequence of this book.

Boyfriend #1: Sander, an ex-child star who doesn't sleep with Keatyn because he wants to wait until marriage (though we find out later that he is actually gay). This pisses Keatyn off because they are supposedly considered the cutest/celebrity couple of the school. But God forbid, people cannot know that Keatyn and Sander haven't been sleeping together because her cool factor will automatically go down. Oh no how preposterously disastrous! They have a mutual break-up because Keatyn wants a boyfriend who will sleep with her and she is crushing on a surfer friend of hers. Also because Sander auditioned and was chosen for the part of Danny in a Grease the Musical remake. Moving on.

Boy-toy #2: I said "boy-toy" and not "boyfriend" because the second boy Keatyn gets involved with is the surfer she crushed on, Brooklyn. She and Brooklyn had been friends for years and they liked each other (though for some reason they were convinced that they were in love) and during ONE night, they were in a hot tub together, kissed, then went upstairs to Brooklyn's room to confess their feelings and do some "stuff". Don't get too excited though. Keatyn is still a virgin after this. What bothers me is that they took to like third base after NEVER dating before. I get that they were friends, but not all "friends" can date and have the same relationship ever again. Sometimes it doesn't work. So after that night, Brooklyn leaves for somewhere and doesn't talk to Keatyn for three days (that's it - it's not like they agreed to be exclusive for him to be her bf and need to responsibly text her). And when he does text her, he tells her they met some chill people, and this leads Keatyn to believe that Brooklyn's "chill" person or people was/were girls and that Brooklyn was sleeping with them. Why? I don't know. Keatyn is an idiot. So she wants to get back at him for breaking her heart. Moving on.

Boyfriend/toy #3: Brandon Cushman, better known as "Cush". Cush is the soccer god of the school and a player. He doesn't date. Keatyn turns to him next because he always flirts with her and she decides he will give her what she wants (throwing away the flower of her virginity). So she talks to him and even though he never dated, it turns out it was because he was in love with her and wanted to date her. How romantic! Not really. Although I will say Cush may have been the most genuine character by far. So after dating for like two days (give or take), he takes her to a really nice hotel because everyone in Malibu is rich and can afford these things apparently, and they do the deed (Keatyn, of course, came prepared with sexy night clothes and lingerie). When Brooklyn came back, Keatyn acted all mushy with Cushy on the beach to get revenge for Brooklyn’s breaking her heart, which she actually did to herself. Oh wait! But that’s not all!

A day before she went to France for something (I honestly have no clue what. I think her family had a house there), her ‘friend’ the social caste-obsessed Queen Bee Vanessa texts her and told her to come to a party at Cush’s house to say goodbye. It was a set-up. Turns out a girl named Mandy had drugged him with valium and was, ehrm….doing things….while Cush was drugged (i.e. non-consenting party). On top of it, she gave him so much he almost died. It was lucky that Keatyn showed up to save him and she didn’t blame him. But when Cush came to, he (for some reason I will never understand) blamed Keatyn for what happened and broke up with her. Cue Boy-toy/friend #4.

Boy-toy/friend #4: Brooklyn. Again. They make up over the phone and she convinces him to come to France to see her where they can tour the coast and visit all the hotshot surf spots. While she is there alone. Aaaaand welcome teenage hormones! They’re soooo in looove and they act as if they are a newly married couple on their honeymoon. Oh the roooomance! However things start to fall apart when Keatyn tries to take Brooklyn dancing in techno clubs and whatnot, Brooklyn backs down and says he doesn’t like that stuff, or when she dresses up excessively, or puts on a lot of make-up. From here the relationship begins to spiral downward because it turns out that Brooklyn only really loves HALF of Keatyn, the surfer girl and chill part of her. She has to beg him to come to her big 17th birthday bash, which happens to be at a club back in Malibu. She also invites Cush to this despite the awkwardness because they are friends. Cush shows up having bought her an expensive pair of chic cowboy boots. She then discovers that Cush is “the boy who loves all of [her]”. They begin planning to get back together during her party after having broken up with Brooklyn. But wait. I thought she LOVED him. Yeah right. You don’t get over someone you’re in love with that fast News flash Keatyn! Buuuuuut everything goes to shit when someone tries and fails to kidnap her. Who is this mysterious kidnapper? Why, her mother’s creepy stalker who is none other than Vincent Sharpe (who actually has another name but I forgot it).

And this whole time Vincent had been FLIRTING with her and she flirted back! With a thirty year old dude! I fail to see how anything could go wrong with that.

Basically he told her he handles the financial aspect of movies and he wants to do a remake of her mother’s old film, but with Keatyn as the lead instead of her mother because she is young and looks like her.
He stalked Keatyn’s mother for years as an obsessive fan, but he turned into a bad stalker and moved on to her blind daughter who didn’t suspect him until he tried TO KIDNAP HER! Where was I? Oh yeah! He turned into a bad stalker when Keatyn’s mother films graphic sex scenes and this made Vincent the Totally obvious Stalker hate her and accuse her of being a whore. You know what? The irony isn’t lost on me! Because as far as I’m concerned, what she acted was FAKE! What Keatyn was doing was REAL! You’d think Vincent would hate her too, because he actually knew about it! Whatever.

I don’t know if flirting with him counts Vincent as boy-toy #5 but we’ll give her the benefit of the doubt.
Vincent is caught but freed shortly after because there is no solid evidence against him. So they decide to change Keatyn’s last name to “Monroe” and give her a totally new and secret life in a far-away and very fancy boarding school. There she meets many new boys, though four of them stand out. Dallas and Riley are her friends, although she kisses and flirts back and forth with Riley. Aiden is the “God of all Hotties” to quote Keatyn. She kisses him and they start to have a thing. So what? That's boy-toy #5 or 6 right? The fourth one is Dawson, Riley’s older brother, who also happens to be hot. He just showed up in this one but I took a peek into the future and it looks like there may be a “thing” or more than a “thing” between them. We’ll call him boy-toy #5.5 or 6.5, depending on if you count Vincent or not. I do. Also when they didn’t know who the stalker was, and they were getting the strange notes, did it ever occur to them to check for fingerprints? Duuhh!

Wow look at all those boys in one book! Now she may be a “men’s lady”, but many instances lead us to confirm that all she really wants is sex. She starts off the book as a virgin, but constantly whines about about it because, God forbid, she can’t be in the popular crowd and be a virgin. It’s much too uncool! She was also very desperate for people to find out that she was having sex.

Also Keatyn describes her clothes a lot, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Description is good. It’s bad when you use the same word over and over again, like the word “cute” in this case. Her shoes are “cute” a lot.

Let’s talk about the ending for a second. Worst. Ending. Ever. And it wasn’t a cliffhanger. It should have been. It should have been something like “And so I went off to boarding school” (except more eloquently). Oh no. The ending was AFTER she got to boarding school and met guys and made sports teams. It was too happy and too anticlimactic. Seriously if the author wants people to be hooked enough to read the next book, there should be more than one unanswered question. It was lame and equivalent to a statement like “and they stared at the sky” in excitement.

The only reason I'm continuing is because I'm hoping Vincent catches up with her *Evil laugh*.

DNF.

Yikes....I don't even know what to say...Overly cheesy, unrealistic, corny dialogue, switching from boy to boy, and insta-love on every street. I just can't do it. Everything that's a trigger for me was in this book. Not not not good.

OH! And what the fuck is up with the lunch table? Sit at a different GD lunch table!!!!!! Talk about giving me a GD headache!!! *omigawd. Where will I sit???!!!* I'm sure there's a whole lunchroom full of tables, you insufferable twat. Oh yeah, but they aren't 'popular' ones....muh bad. Go screw another dude. That oughtta take the pain away-or give you crabs, there's always that kind of pain, too. *rolls eyes*

DNF with 7 hours and 58 mins left

I did the audio version of this book and I know I didn't really give it a shot, but I TRIED I REALLY DID.

First off, I met Jillian Dodd at a book signing once and she is the NICEST person ever. So it pains me to say this and in the end this book is probably not geared towards me.

I love a good ditzy, glamorous and beautiful Heroine, but I could for the life of me not connect with her. Let me just say this, I HATED the narrator. She spoke too fast and when I tried to slow it down, it sounded awkward. I felt like she read the book really choppy and her voice sounded like she had something stuck up her noise. She did however sound young and it fit the youthful personality of the character.

I picked up this book because of the glowing reviews, but in the end it wasn't for me. I couldn't understand her position towards guys. She had a boyfriend, then she had a crush on someone, she wanted her boyfriend to have sex with her, but then she would play out these scenes? It was just hard to follow and I need easy books when I listen to audio.

Also, the name dropping of fashion was making my head hurt. I'm a fashion girl. I love purses, high-end brands, etc, but it just felt like it was over kill in the book. I get it, she likes expensive stuff.

Maybe I need to read this book instead of listening to it. I just had to stop with the audio, I was getting really angry as each minute I was listening.

I think I am in the minority here.

What did I like about this book? Cush! Loved him. The End.

What did I not like about this book?

Well for starters, this is a story about a high school girl; I am I betting its reader base will be other high school girls. Therefore, let us glamorize the use of sex, drugs, and bullying. Keaton is a 16-year-old girl who has multiple bed partners within days of each other. The one too many boys (at least 4 or 5) involved made our girl look slutty. If that was not enough, the drugs and drinking on every other page along with the fact that her mother was OK with it all (yes her mother knew all about it) majorly pissed me off! I swear if I had to read any more about this teenager’s adventure with drinking excessively/getting high and having insane amounts of sex fantasies/cravings I was going to lose my ever-loving mind. I am no prude, but seriously?!

I really wanted to like this book and root for my favorite in the love triangle, but I totally did not understand the whole ending. I was left shaking my head and rereading to see if I missed anything.

"Damn Disney, and all their happily-ever-after, unrealistic, bullshit stories."

Stalk Me - Welcome to the world of 16 year old Keatyn Douglass. Living in Malibu, she is the daughter of a famous actress and all she wants is to live out the perfect script. To have to best high school experience- being popular, dating the hottest guy, having great friends. Unfortunately for Keatyn, things are never as perfect as they look on the outside. Keatyn struggles with trying maintain the a perfect persona, while trying to figure out who she is. Let's not forget the psychotic stalker who threatens her safety and alters the course of her life. Keatyn's life is definitely not following her script, but maybe she will find true happiness through the madness.

Now for the guys - OH MY - The pages are overflowing with some seriously swoon-worthy boys. Sanders.Brooklyn.Cush.Damian.Aiden. And Keatyn's feelings for these guys are all over the place, she had my head spinning. I loved "You're single. I'm single. Let's mingle." -Cush.

I really enjoyed this story, it kept me entertained and I look forward to continuing Keatyn's story.

TEAM AIDEN!!!! Okay, I am not going to lie...I switched teams a lot during this book. But I would have to say that at the end of Stalk Me, I was Team Aiden! I started out Team Brooklyn....then became Team Cush.....but fell in love with Aiden. :) Needless to say, there is no shortage of HOT guys in this book. I really enjoyed the whole premise of the book. I think I am especially going to like Keatyn's life at boarding school. I was quite sad when this book ended...and the two bonus chapters from Kiss Me did not help matters. That ending....sigh! Aiden.....sigh! What can I say...I LOVED it! Definitely recommend....December cannot get here soon enough!

Kala's Book Blog

I liked Jillian Dodd's book "That Boy" quite a bit. While I wasn't super pleased with the ending, I thought overall the writing was decent and the characters were likable.

I read the blurb for this book and thought that it sounded awesome. The book was supposed to be about popular girl Keatyn who has been living a sham life because she thought it was what she wanted (perfect friends, perfect boyfriend, etc), but it's all imploding around her and she starts to realize that the perfect life she thought she wanted might not be the best thing after all.

Yeah, that blurb is almost a complete fabrication. Well, I mean, it's kind of true for the first 15-20% of the book, but then the story changes drastically and none of that matters anymore.

Considering that I enjoyed That Boy, I figured I would like this one as well.

And I did!

For about 70-75% of the book.

Then the book died for me. It completely tanked. I struggled so hard to read the last quarter of this book because I was so pissed off at what happened and where Dodd was taking this story. I've since learned that she plans to make this a 6-book series and that disappoints me even more. For reasons I'll get in to later in this review, I'm possibly going to check out the sequels... but definitely not at $9.99 each for the ebooks. I was VERY happy I only paid $2.99 for this one.

There are some spoilers after this point, so BEWARE!

Stalk me starts off with Keatyn and her boyfriend Sander partying it up with her best friends Vanessa and RiAnne. And Cush, but I'll get in to him later. Sander keeps getting drunk at the parties all the time and won't have sex with her even though they've been dating a year. Vanessa is a really terrible friend and basically blackmails Keatyn into doing whatever she wants. RiAnne is basically Vanessa's lap dog.

Keatyn also apparently loves to surf and wakes up early to meet with her surfer friends, Damian and Brooklyn. She has a crush on Brooklyn and she doesn't know if it's requited. Even though Vanessa tells her not to, she breaks up with Sander. The breakup was actually well done and I really liked Sander. Unfortunately Sander disappears from the book after the breakup, despite Keatyn telling us he's her BFF and they have probably the most amicable breakup in history.

So Keatyn is single and starts hitting on Brooklyn. They make out one night and Keatyn thinks she's in love. Brooklyn doesn't call her for a few days and she gets all upset thinking she was just a hookup. After a few days he calls her and invites her to go away for the weekend with him and some friends to surf. She's all excited until he texts her and tells her he left early without her. She's emo about this and goes to a party with Cush.

Cush might be the absolute best character in this entire book. Cush is the cute, arrogant, adorable player who never dates, just has hookups, and has sexy dimples. He also is very good friends with Keatyn. They've been great friends for awhile - he goes dancing with her when her other friends wouldn't, she goes to awkward family functions with him as moral support, etc.

So, Keatyn is all upset that Brooklyn went off without her and she thinks he's a big player now. They get into a text fight where he tells her to grow up. That night she and Cush go to the party and end up kissing. She likes it a lot and Cush admits to her that he's been in love with her for awhile which is why he doesn't date girls. So Keatyn gives up her virginity and they start dating.

Every scene with Cush makes me feel like this:

Cush is freaking awesome. They have an amazing time together until Keatyn is about to go on vacation and her BFF Vanessa sends her a cryptic text. Keatyn knows Vanessa is setting something up, so she stops by a party and finds another girl (Mandy) giving head to Cush. She's pissed off until she realizes Cush has been drugged. So Keatyn's best friend Vanessa sets this all up because she's a crazy stalker bitch. Keatyn takes Cush to a doctor and his parents find out and freak. For some really strange reason that I don't understand, except that the author needed to create a rift between them despite it not making any sense at all, Cush blames Keatyn for what happened and they break up. Don't ask, I don't understand why either.

So Keatyn leaves and ends up somehow starting up with Brooklyn again. They spend the summer having sex all over Europe and surfing. But Keatyn loves to dress up and go to clubs and dance, but Brooklyn hates it. He only likes her when she's playing beach bum without makeup. They argue about it and break up at her 17th birthday party.

At the same party, Cush and Keatyn make up and she tells him she loves him. Keatyn has realized that Cush loves all of her, not just pieces, and she wants to be with him. And from what I've seen so far, SHE IS RIGHT. They dance and make out and then Keatyn decides to go hang out with Brooklyn some more (WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU GIRL????).

This is where the book completely goes fucking nuts and starts sucking huge donkey balls.

While all this stuff is going on, Keatyn's mom (who is a famous actress) has been getting scary stalker letters. At Keatyn's 17th bday party, while she's hanging with Brooklyn, the stalker shows up and tries to abduct Keatyn. She gets away, but suddenly everything has to change.

Keatyn's mom decides Keatyn has to be sent to boarding school to be safe. She has to cut off all contact with all friends (except Brooklyn for some weird reason) and can't tell any of them that she's ok. Keatyn goes along with this after putting up very minimal resistance. She is vaguely upset about not seeing Cush anymore, but he's barely mentioned for the rest of the book. She professed her love for the guy and now she has to cut off all contact. He has no idea where she is. He has no idea why she refuses to talk to him. It's completely fucked up.

But Keatyn does't seem that upset. She gets emancipated from her parents and they open bank accounts for her because that way the stalker can't track her! She also changes her name to Keatyn Monroe, because that will hide her true identity! Her mom is a famous actress who is in a relationship with a famous actor. No matter what, Keatyn would occasionally be photographed by paparazzi. Her face is going to be known, especially by celebrity hounds who love to read entertainment magazines and blogs. She is also supposedly a dead ringer for her mother. But ... she will go to a boarding school full of rich people where no one will recognize her because it's important to the plot even though it MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE.

Oh, let's not forget that after professing her love to Cush, she fucks Brooklyn one last time before leaving for boarding school. Just because. It makes no sense why she can hang out with Brooklyn but not Cush, especially because the stalker knows Brooklyn, but whatever!

So....

Keatyn goes to boarding school, meets and starts making out with three different guys (Dallas, Riley, Aiden).

On her first night at boarding school she and Dallas get high and make out.

Second night, she purposely lets Riley into her room while she's wearing lingerie and a skimpy robe.

That same night, she holds hands with Aiden and this happens:

It takes everything I have to let go of his hand when I shake it.
My hand belongs in his.
Forever.
Don't laugh. I'm serious.
It belongs in his forever

She has been at school all of TWO DAYS and like a week prior had confessed her love to Cush. Now she has completely forgotten about him and literally has so much chemistry with Aiden that she thinks her hand belongs in his FOREVER.

(sigh)

She also ends up on a ferris wheel with Aiden. And of course, when it's at the top, they kiss. It looks like this:

A slow, perfect, time-stood-still, fireworks-in-my-eyes kind of kiss.
And it was just a little kiss. No open mouths, no tongues; just a kiss.
A little teeny kiss.
Holy Shit.
I'm in love with him.

Yep, she was in love with Cush last week (and CUSH IS FUCKING AWESOME) and now she's in love with Aiden. Let's not forget that a week and a half ago she was in love with Brooklyn.

ANYWAYS.

The last lines of the book are:

All I have to say is: boarding school is no day at the beach.
It's way more exciting.

And to that, I say this:

You create this fucking awesome character in Cush. His dialogue is awesome. His back story is awesome (what we get of it). EVERYTHING is fucking awesome about him.

You create this crazy dynamic between Keatyn and her "friends" at school, then fuck it all up by sending her to boarding school where we are now cut off completely from all the other characters you spend a few hundred pages getting us connected with and start us completely over in some shit boring boarding school with characters who are all cardboard cutouts of each other?

Am I supposed to give a fuck about Aiden or Dallas or Riley? I've known these characters for all of 30 seconds before Keatyn is forming these relationships with them that I don't give a fuck about because I WANT CUSH. Hell, I'll take Brooklyn, or Sander, or Vanessa. But giving me a fuck ton of new characters who all have the exact same personalities and making Keatyn get all in to them is basically a big FUCK YOU to the entire previous 80% of this book.

Ugh.

I originally rated this 2-stars, but after writing this I'm so pissed off at this story that I've had to drop it to 1-star.

Two things I also want to mention:

* Stalker plot is more like a minor sub-plot. However, that minor subplot fucked this entire story up by forcing the whole boarding school thing.
* This book suffers HUGELY from absent parent syndrome. Keatyn has no curfew and no rules. She regularly stays out entire nights. Her mom also encourages her to have sex and is super excited when Keatyn loses her virginity.

The ONLY reason that I would consider reading further into this series is if I read spoilers and find out Cush makes a comeback. Not that Keatyn deserves him, since she basically wants to run around fucking and kissing everyone, but he's the only character that makes this series redeemable. If book 2 is an Aiden/Keatyn love story I will pass. NOT INTERESTED.

This sounded brilliant, it was brilliant, and this authors brilliant.

I love that cover too!

He breaks out his naughty Cushman grin and says, “So, you’re single. I’m single. Let’s mingle.”
I laugh. He always makes me laugh.

Ahh yes Cush always made me laugh too. That boy was devishly sexy!

Aiden seemed cool for all of the 2 seconds we got to know him. And Brooklyn well I didn't like him.

The stalker? I had pretty much guessed who it was from the start. I loved this book though. So far I've liked all of Jilian Dodd's books and I look forward to the sequel of this and to any other future books she brings out :)

Stalk Me was not quite what I expected but in a good way! It has the same great writing style Dodd showcased in That Boy and That Wedding but with a much edgier storyline that will appeal to mature young adults and adults. There are sooo many HOT, I mean HOT, boys in this book that I feel like I just got back from a trip to Swoonville and I will take that trip as many times as Jillian Dodd grants me a ticket!

Hot tamales! I am trying to think back to the last time I encountered a book with soo many boys qualified for Swoonville residency and, well, I can’t think of one because I have not come across another book that took male hotness to THIS level. I usually have a clear favorite, you know, the guy I want the heroine to end up with and spend forever with. I did in this one too but then it changed and then it changed again and now I actually play for two teams…We will get to that later:)

The story is fast paced and things are always changing and evolving. Ms. Dodd would give me a chair to sit in and I would be sitting pretty comfortably and then BAM, seat is taken from under me. I would then find another chair to sit in only to find myself on my rear end again! Stalk Me had me smiling, laughing, shedding tears and even left me breathless in a couple of scenes (thank to those teenage boys!).

I had to remember that Keatyn is a teenage girl when reading this. She has the attention span of a teenage girl, the interests of a teenage girl and the standards of a teenage girl. As an adult, it was easy for me to say, did she really just do that?! But then I had to bring myself back to my teenage years and it all felt very real (besides the movie star parents and designer clothes). She has the emotions of a teenage girl; it is easy for her to cry, easy for her to get catty and easy for her to fall for a guy. I found her to also be very strong when I consider some of the things she has to go through during the book and she didn’t have the ultra whiny personality that some teenage girls have in YA books. I loved the way she was with her family; it showed her warm, caring side. She is popular but not too shallow. Overall, I found her to be a very likable girl!

So this would be the part I would love to tell you about hero but that is a little difficult in this book so I am going to give you short impressions of “the boys” below.

Sander – Oh My Gosh, these high school kids are kind of blind! I like you but I had your number from page 2 or 3. You are sweet, sexy and would make a great best friend. (Most of you will pick up on this too!)

Brooklyn – I was hot and cold when it came to you. You were a little moody and I didn’t know what to make of you half the time. I don’t think you are “the one”.

Daemon – I like Daemon and he is a great friend to Keatyn, I just haven’t seen enough of him to determine what I think about him yet. He is in a band and that always gets points with me.

Cush - You may be a player but you can come play on my team whenever you want. He is super sweet and takes Keatyn for who she is and doesn’t try to change her. He also doesn’t care too much about being in the popular crowd and he seems to adore Keatyn. LOVES HIM!

Riley and Dallas – I am still getting to know you and I think you could both be great friends with Keatyn. I think you are both witty and add some comic relief to this book!

Aiden – I didn’t want anyone to come into Cush territory! I wanted all boys to STAY AWAY but you worked your way into my heart in the little bit of time that I have known you. Feel free to bring me a lunch anytime;)

So right now, I am Team Cush and Team Aiden. My chemistry meteor was going wild when she was with both but I think it is anyones game at this point. I think I am leaning a little bit more toward Cush but with five more books to go, anything can happen! Oh, and there is always the possibility of more boys coming our way.

I love a book that can keep me on my toes and I was definitely on my toes for most of this. There is so much I would like to say but I don’t want to ruin this for those who have not read it. I will say that it is one heck of a ride. I was actually kind of upset with Miss Dodd because of the situation Keatyn finds herself in about three-fourths of the way in but somehow, she completely swept me off my feet and made it alright. I cannot wait for Kiss Me in December. Can it just be December now??? I need to know where this is going!

Team Cush Theme Song...

Ah, Cush it – Cush it good
Ah, Cush it – Cush it real good
Ah, Cush it – Cush it good
Ah, Cush it – Cush it real good

Hey! Ow!
Cush it Good!

I have an interview with Jillian on my blog!

Review posted to: Swept Away By Romance
4.5 Stars
Genre: Contemporary, MATURE Young Adult Romance
Heat Barometer: 3 out of 5 flames
Written from the heroine’s, Keatyn, POV

Gossip Girl meets Mean Girls with the setting in Malibu. I loved it and all its glamour, money, cars, killer clothes, popular crowd's antics and the fickleness of the teenage relationships-"in and out of love" before they could get their tongues out of each other's mouths.

This was a mature Young Adult romance because of the sexual situations and drugs. The sex wasn’t descriptive, but the wild parties seemed to make these kids much more advanced than 16 & 17 years of age. At times I felt like I was watching an episode of The O.C. or the reality show Laguna Beach; fast kids with too much money and all the drama that goes with it…ADDICTIVE. Call me shallow, but I watched all of those night time soap operas faithfully and loved the teenage petty drama. I did keep thinking that all of these kids needed more parental supervision and guidance. Although Keatyn seemed very grounded and I loved her relationship with her movie star mother, step-father and 4 little sisters, she just had way too much freedom.

I am impressed by how much I like Jullian Dodd’s writing style, she has interesting stories that are current and just flow. They are so engaging and hip. She is on the cutting edge of fashion, the wardrobe descriptions alone are a good reason to read this book. The words and phrases she uses are cool and fresh, as well as, she is right there with all the pressures of today’s teens with sex, friendships, and drugs. What was really different with the romance in this book was that Keatyn was the heroine, but she had many different leading men (or boys) and the dynamic of her love life was forever changing. I was right there with her too. I would fall in love with one boy and then he would make a dumbass move and I was on to the next one. The book was populated with many hot guys to choose from and they all wanted Keatyn. I prefer to read one mature love story with big gestures, big love, hot sex and an overwhelming HEA. This is not that style, yet I devoured it and I couldn’t put it down.

The book is named Stalk Me, but that seemed to be a smaller part of the story or it at least it took a backseat for me because I loved all the young relationship turmoil. I am sure the stalking issues will continue in the next book with a whole new cast of hot young guys, bitchy mean girls and high school situations.

Stalk Me (The Keatyn Chronicles) is an on going series and Book 1 ends as a "to be continued" which bums me out because I want it NOW! Teaser chapters for book 2 look really good and I can't wait to read it in December. I believe there is going to be 6 books in the series, not sure I have the patience to have mine and Keatyn's heart shattered over and over through six books, but I am going to step out of my comfort zone and try to enjoy every moment of this teenager’s life. Stalk Me was absolutely a brilliant start!

I was a fan of Jillian Dodd. I wanted to like this book. But it was just too hard. Mostly it just made me go "ick". I do applaud Ms. Dodd for a book that oozes slutty but with minimum promiscuity. It's a talent. It's not just the sexual content, it's the overall plot or lack of one. It sort of just slip slides all over the place and doesn't go ANYWHERE. Like seriously. You think Keatyn's going to learn some big lesson, but nope. She's right back where she started, if not worse.

Verdict: This is probably the first book that I'm not going to bother with the sequel.

Honestly, I wanted to like this book, and give it 2.5 stars, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. This book is completely unrealistic, the main character is so superficial, indecisive, morally corrupt and obnoxious. I found myself in the beginning thinking one thing, and then getting excited thinking she is finally going to wisen up, then being pissed off, because really she is just another stuck up, backstabbing, skanky highschool idiot. I really thought she was going to have some type of turn around, realize her ways and start over as a better person at her new school, well I was wrong, and she did not learn a damn thing. I do not even knopw what to say about the guys, ofcourse they are all good looking, swoon worthy, typical guys, but how many of them do we really need to have?? All these guys really basically say is, you are so hot, blah blah, I love you, let's have sex, aaaaand that's kind of it. The writer is clever in making you think these guys are of some different variety, deep and caring and outsiders, but it just makes them look that much more like a bunch of douchebags, because they really are no different than any other guy, just wrappoed in a more attractive package. I found her "parents" to be a pathetic example for anyone to follow, but I am sure that is how it really is out in Malibu, which is pretty scary. The whole stalker thing is pretty anticlimactic and seemed like a filler really in a story mainly about a girl who wants to have sex and makes every possible stupid choice given, while whining about everything. If I read the next book, it will only be because I feel like I need her to redeem herself somewhat, with Aiden, or on her own, something..but if the next one is just some more misadventures of a horny teenager, I will probably throw the book against a wall. I usually don't review that many books because who the hell really wants my opinion, but this book just irked me.

If you want a light read, try this!

This book has the ingredients for an exciting next read: catchy title, totally hot, swoon-worthy boys and a filthy, rich heroine who seriously needs to make up her mind.

TEAM CUSH all the way!!!

Halfway through the novel, I kept thinking, Keatyn can't keep bouncing from one guy to another. It was a frustrating read for me.

Even before everything was spelled out for the heroine, I already knew two things. The moment I realized these things, I just want to shout at Keatyn, Get a freaking clue already! Let me tell you, she's THAT clueless most of the time.

I know that I wasn't being patient but you could just imagine my frustration when I realized that it's already past 3/4 of the novel, and she's making out with new hotties and I'm like, who do you really end up with, Keatyn, huh?

Then it's the end. I was like, WHAT?? Did this book just kept me hanging? I didn't know this was the first in a six book series until I've read the acknowledgements. No warnings whatsoever.

So consider yourself forewarned, I repeat, this book is the first in a SIX book series.

Don't expect any HEA yet. Because I did, and look what happened to me. I was totally frustrated.

But no matter how many hotties appear til book 6, I'll stay loyal to the Cushman!

Anyway, I liked Jillian Dodd's writing. Fun and easy to read.

UPDATED:
I was using mobile app for Goodreads so imagine my surprise when I opened the GR desktop site, and saw the book title with (The Keatyn Chronicles #1) next to it. Maybe, GR mobile app should show not just the book title but also the series name. Just saying.

FIRST OF ALL, this book is NOT YOUNG ADULT. Though the main character acts like a very immature 14yo at best, her REACTIONS to sexual activities are FAR from what is realistic in YA.

There is a fine line between girls exploring their sexuality in YA books, or even being completely promiscuous and confident sexually, and girls acting out of character for their age. The sexual situations in STALK ME were what I imagine the author dreams about, NOT what any teen girl actually experiences. There were none of the insecurities or awkwardness that come with discovering your sexuality, or being intimate with boys for the first time. Keatyn handled each situation like a PRO, and I had a very hard time believing anything in this book.

UPDATE 4/28: I rarely leave a book unfinished, so I forced myself to finish this one in hopes that the only likable character would win in the end. Poor Cush.

I'm sorry, but I can't rate this book. PLEASE do not let your young adult daughters read this book.

Stalk Me by Jillian Dodd
4 Stars!!

“Damn Disney, and all their happily-ever-after, unrealistic, bullshit stories.”

This is my first Jillian Dodd book and so I was going into the unknown not knowing what to expect. I have loved reliving my youth through teen stories so I knew that this would be one of those reads where I could drift back to my school years, which incidentally were far from pretty to a life of teen loves, romance, melodramas and all that goes with it and I was not disappointed!

Firstly I would just like to say I love Jillian’s style of writing, it is fun and it is flirty and it pulls you in, you cannot help but immerse yourself into Keatyn’s life and feel like you are living it with her. Whilst I was reading this, it sort of reminded me of a programme I used to watch when I was a teenager….many moons ago called Beverley Hills 90210. I had a soft spot for Jason Priestly!! Don’t judge me!! And I couldn’t stand Shannen Doherty!! (Bet you are all thinking…WHO??) Well I am sure there must be some old clips on YouTube!

Keatyn has a privileged life, her mother is a very talented actress called Abby Johnston and her father Tommy Stevens is a Hollywood legend. She has wardrobes full of designer clothes and shoes, she is Miss Popular at school, boys are queuing up to be her boyfriend and of course all this brings with it jealousy and contempt. When she was little, Keatyn had written what she perceived to be the perfect “life script” she had written her own movie of how she wanted her life to pan out. Obviously, things always go off course, but Keatyn is adamant that if she tries hard enough she can get her life back on track so that she can fulfil her ideal dream life.

Following Keatyn’s life at school there is a lot of drama thrown in, arguments, boy trouble and a stalker issue. This book though is more about Keatyn finding herself, it is through all the trials and tribulations of trying to be Miss Popular that she realises that actually it is not all it is cracked up to be and perhaps, just this once she needs to change. She does not like the person that she is becoming and doesn’t want to morph into the bitchy friends that she has gained whilst at school.

Eventually the stalker issue forces her life course to take a dramatic turn and maybe this is the change that she needs to find herself and become that person that she has always deep down wanted to be.

This book is full of hot boys too so you have some drool worthy dudes to get hot over, firstly I will mention Sanders, he is your typical high school popular kid, on the outside, he was sweet and charming but you always felt that he was hiding something, is he all what he seems?

After agreeing to breakup and remain firm friends Sander and Keatyn cracked me up after Sander got the lead role in Grease - “Good. You know what though? I’ve never had a role where I got my heart broken. In Grease, Sandy breaks my heart. Do you mind if I use our breakup as practice? Like, I’ll act all devastated at school. I’ll be all dreary and full of angst.”

Then comes the “Cushman” Mr Cocky!! He was good looking and he knew it, used it to his advantage and then some, his chat up lines were hilarious but you couldn’t help but fall in love with him. He was super cute! He also had a huge soft spot for Keatyn.

“You’re single. I’m single. Let’s mingle.”

Then we have Brooklyn, typical surfer dude but he was also very deep and meaningful at times. He would recite Keats for his Keats and this did make him fairly loveable, but he was so laid back her was virtually horizontal and I always felt that he was holding back. He was Keatyn’s first true love and she sort of hero worships him but I feel that he is just leading her on. He has his ambitions and their lifestyles are so different I think he feels he would never fit in. He feels that Keatyn is too “material” and this does not fit in with his aspirations.

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever. It’s Keats for my Keats.”

I will save the best till last….sigh!! Aiden Arrington “The God of All Hotties” yes he really is that hot…my heart melted as did my brain. His nickname for Keatyn was super cute and I feel that he has a very real connection with his “Boots,” I can see them as soul mates, lovers and hopefully married with lots of babies. I can’t wait to see where their relationship takes us going forward. I really hope they get together as I can see some hot, hot, hot panty melting scenes between these two. I just fell hopelessly and deeply in love with this guy…he really is that dreamy! We have 6 books though so I am sure that a lot is going to happen inbetween, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for these two.

“He should be down on his knees begging me to marry him and have his little Hottie babies.”

Keatyn…what can I say about the star of this book, well she can be frustrating, sometimes I wanted to give her a slap, but you felt her inner turmoil, you could see she was just trying to conform to the “in crowd” and you ended up cheering her on to do what was right for herself. She has some serious problems going on at the moment and that is a lot for anyone to deal with and I can’t wait to see her develop going forward.

“I think it was Betsey Johnson that said women dress for other women. If we dressed for men, we’d all run around naked.”

Jillian Dodd, I absolutely loved this book, I cannot wait for the next and the next and the next. I am itching to see how Keatyn changes and grows, this is really going to be one of those series that every teenager should read, they will be able to associate with Keatyn’s life so much and would probably pick up some amazing tips along the way. Jillian really has managed to encapsulate the teen drama and all that goes with growing up, I cannot wait to see Keatyn’s own metamorphisis.

When I started the book I thought that I would like it. It seemed cute and fun. It started well and I was okay when we had only three guys(I think!) in the picture.

I liked Cush the most. He was super cute and adorable, but for no rhyme or reason he does something that is completely unlike his character and royally screws up. So, Keatyn breaks up with him and the book starts to go downhill from here.

The MC Keatyn is shallow and jumps from one guy to next and apparently she loves all of them. huh! I just don't understand her. I don't have a problem with her being spoiled or fickle minded or stupid. My problem is that the character shows no growth. She has no redeeming qualities and is so damn irritating.

The ENDING is my biggest issue. End the book when the stalker gets caught, don't just drag the story because there is a sequel planned. I don't want her to go to a boarding school and meet more guys. (NO!!!) And poor Cush, he was just put out of the picture. Why? If Brooklyn can know about Keatyn's location, why can't Cush?

There are many loose ends and so many things that make no sense.
The book has no logic and kinda assumes that readers are STUPID. I don't like that. I won't pick up the second book.

The book could have been loads better. Many people do like it so, read more reviews, think about it and then decide whether you want to buy it or not. My suggestion is to save your money and avoid this one.
