Open for a review of one short story at a time...

Okay. This is touted as being super-erotic literary erotica, different from the usual run of cheap mummy porn or whatever else is considered non-literary erotica.

It certainly was different, but it also definitely wasn't erotic. And I mean: at all. I was so turned off that I ended up with what felt like frozen genitals and a distinctly queasy stomach. The stories were very samey in their vulgar, obscene language. They all felt more like having been written for the male consumer than a lot of erotica I lately read (Gengoroh Tagame or Erich von Götha for instance) written/drawn by men. In fact, the whole set screamed for a publication in The Hustler or a very daring edition of the Playboy.

I may be a genderfluid woman, but I am not a typical straight male while at the opposite end of the axis. In consequence I was so massively turned off by the constantly repeated take down of female sexuality, sexual organs and sexual expression, that I had difficulties finishing this. For something which alleges to be literary the verbiage and terminology is astonishingly limited. Not just limited, but if there are 5 different words for a sexually relevant body part or activity, this author is guaranteed to use the most vulgar and offensive. This doesn't sit well with me, it comes across as sex-negative. It also turns me off rather than on.

Which leads to the next problem. Clearly the author thought long and hard which taboos and transgressive acts she believes are not regularly written about and might titillate her readers. Unfortunately there are readers like me out there who couldn't care less about taboos. I'm not tickled by taboos, and a lot of them are ridicule-inducing to me. It also isn't helpful when you read the exact same wording for the exact same act four times in a row. Mostly these stories rely exclusively on the transgressiveness of the acts they describe upon arousing the reader.

The emotions of the characters themselves are rarely described, and when, come across as very one-dimensional and trite. There was exactly one short scene (the caller in Retribution) which achieved a minor modicum of emotional engagement of a character.

To make this short: no, I didn't find this erotic. I also wouldn't call it "literary erotica". I have a few go-to authors for that, e.g. Remittance Girl or Ashley Zacharias for instance, both of whom also excel at writing realistic breathing people. Yes, indeed this wasn't entirely the same as cheap erotica either. But it also was nothing I want to experience again.

As to the instances of Femdom in this. Absolutely not my thing. I don't understand why some readers shelve this as BDSM. It wasn't, it was more in the line of sadomasochism, and not of the healthy kind. I found little consent and sanity in this, and e.g. biting off bits of genital tissues such as the scrotum is absolutely unsafe. None of these alleged Femdoms are people I would want to be around.

I'm not sure these twelve short stories meet the brief. The cover and blurb gives me BDSM vibes, but there's no consent or even CNC play in a lot of these. There's a lot of abuse, manipulation, and power play, but none of it seems consensual. I'm really not sure what this collection wants to be.

Short story breakdowns below, overall 2/5 stars.

Security
Labia lips slapping together as she made her way through the busy, chilly thoroughfare of Oxford Street is the weirdest and worst visual sentence I've ever read but overall, a decent enough short story. 3/5

Winnat's Pass
Weird corpses giving blow jobs. Interesting setup. 2/5

Fruits De Mer
First consensual story, although more talk about seafood than action. Was fine. 3/5

Sherlock Holmes & The Curse of the Moonstone
It's a bit longer than it needed to be, but the most erotic so far 3/5

Dirty Phone Call
Very quick read, more crude than erotic. 2/5

Body swap
The best story is the collection.  Engaging, erotic, a tad taboo. Was fun. This concept would make a great full-length novella. 4/5

Retribution
Follows on from Dirty Phone Call and a much better version. 3/5

Sanctity
There is nothing sexy about a bum hole being referred to as a dirt hole. Ever. 1/5

La Frotteuse
This is the most unmemorable, already I can't remember a thing about it. 1/5

A Holiday Romance
A decent read that made sense (apart from putting your arm so far up someone's bum your hand is in their bowel (even if this is possible, why would you want to??)). 3/5

The Diary
Feels more like abuse than BDSM between two consenting adults. Can we also not use the word "teats" when describing nipples. 2/5

Anastasia
A retelling of The Diary but more abusive and disturbing. 2.5

Wow...this collection was a hot mess. Poorly written short stories that showcased the expected fetishes, but not quite getting to the why...
A few of them didn't make any sense at all, like the ending of 'Winnat's Pass', for example, featuring a dead woman's teeth being found to make dentures for another one...WTF?
On top of that, many of the stories just ended abruptly, as if the author figured that the explicit sex was all that was needed to create a story. Bam! The end.
Much of the language used throughout the book wasn't hot at all. Maybe Brits see it differently, but the term 'dirt hole' for someone's asshole was a complete turn off.
The only story with a tiny bit of redeeming value was 'A Holiday Romance' which was similar to Billerosie's 'Enslaving Eli'.
This shit is being deleted from my Kindle now! (Don't let this beautiful cover here suck you in).

There were some unmentionable atrocities mentioned (he-he) which made me want ...maybe not read, but at least skim through to witness the abominations firsthand.

Some great stories in this collection although I thought the last two were a bit pointless as one virtually re-told the story of the other. 8/10.

Author Billierosie is at it again. Only this time she's concentrated a burst of her erotic short stories into a single location - the new book "Fetish Transcendence" available now through Amazon.com for the Kindle.

The collection of sexual tales, featuring new and previously published stories, begins with “Security,” a smoking hot tale of nearly-forced sexual surrender, which can be a tricky kind of tale to tell - especially without crossing the border into rape or other unsavory elements of storytelling. In this short, readers meet Freddie, who takes his job as a security guard to the next level by giving the small time criminals he encounters a choice; perform a degrading sexual act and be set free, or be humiliated by arrest and court. Male or female. It matters little to him. But the sensual Ellie, also known as the shoplifting criminal called The Shadow, might prove to be his match.

Fans of Billierosie's tales might recognize one or two popular entries published in various anthologies by the erotica imprint Sizzler Editions. These include the fascinating homo-erotic tale of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, “Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Moonstone,” and the darkly erotic “Winnat's Pass,” but her stories have never appeared in one place - at least not until now.

For those fans of hardcore lust, abandon, masters and servants, and other forms of sexual depravity, the wait was well worth it.

Well-written short stories around sex themes that I didn't find erotic. I am one of the few readers that didn't appreciate these short stories so maybe my sex batteries were low. As I think about it, it wasn't the themes or storyline, as much as the hotness factor to these stories. I have another one of the author's full stories so I haven't given up with this author.

Made absolutely no sense. I couldn't even read past the first story. Someone had to have been paid to get to the 4.25 star rating it got in Goodreads, no lie, it's that bad. I over rate almost every book I read because I want to give the authors and other readers a fair shot but there is literally just no way this book can win.

A varied selection of short stories, some better than others, some excellent and hot, some not so quite so much. Different strokes for different folks though so there should be something for everyone here. Narration was very good and flowed nicely.

The last two stories were my least favourite, hard to choose a favourite from the really good ones. One big turn off for me was the use of the term "dirt-hole" several times. Asshole, arsehole, butthole or anus etc but please, not dirthole.

I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily writing an honest and unbiased review.

Title: Internal and External Desires
“FetishTranscendence” by Billierosie

Billierosie’s “Fetish Transcendence,” has the ability to peak reader’s curiosity just from reading the book’s title. A collection of short stories involving peculiar fetishes, Billierosie exposes a world in which characters explore their sexual needs. This read is hot and intense, but does it suffer because of its lack of the normal reader and character connection? And does the read confirm the stigmas that are attached to those who partake in the mentioned sexual fixations?

Billierosie doesn’t waste time building up to the climax, no pun intended. Nor does the author waste paper offering descriptive physical or internal traits that usually builds that character and reader connection. There is one trait, however, many of the characters all seem to experience…, humiliation. Oddly enough, as a reader you will find yourself so caught up in these tales and trying to decipher or understand the people in this book, along with their fetishes, that you’ll find yourself reading every word in hopes of understanding the reasoning’s of these characters.

This book is centered on fixation, point-blank-and-the-period. From the tale of a man that enjoys feet and all the freaky things he does with them; to a story about a submissive finding contentment as a slave. This book is raw and direct, and gives readers the opportunity to explore a world that is shunned by so many. It is not for everyone, but that doesn’t imply that it isn’t a good read, because it is.

Yet, the concern with this book stems from the overuse of the word humiliation. It is very possible that the stories told, play right into the hands of those that view fetishism and submissive/dominate relationships as a type of mental and physical abuse, regardless if it is consensual. Yet, you be the judge.

I give “Fetish Transcendence” 4 out of 5 stars.

Happy Reading

Fetish Transcendence is a collection of a dozen deliciously short perverse stories, each a product of an even more deliciously perverse mind [and I know the author will be smiling with approval at that!].
When I read this book, I had literally just finished Enslaving Eli by the same author, a novella of more considerable depth and very thought provoking. From a novella with depth, to a series of short punchy stories, was an interesting transition. I found myself reading each story, stepping back and pondering, but with little framework to crystallise my thoughts, and eager to get onto the next. That was not a negative, rather It is the beauty, and probably an aim of such stories, to provide a "sketch", upon which the reader can emboss their own thoughts. That I did, but only after I had finished the book and returned to consider some over again. As I say, an interesting transition! One of the things that kept reoccurring to me was how much each story could be expanded to provide the subject of a book in itself; is that the way a book evolves?
I enjoyed all the stories, all very different, and I definitely have my favourites. There is a story here, or more, for all readers, and probably one or two that will raise eyebrows in disapproval; all the more reason then to read them !
Punchy short stories that excite and plant seeds of thought, excellent ! It won`t take you long to read them, but the effects will linger !
