This is tough because there are so many favorites. Here are a few...Julie Garwood THE BRIDE, THE SECRET, RANSOM, THE LION'S LADY, etc. I adore Amanda Quick...favorites include RAVISHED and WITH THIS RING. I also love the early Bridgerton Series by Julia Quinn, early Cynster Series by Stephanie Laurens, SLIGHTLY MARRIED by Mary Balogh. AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER by Karen Hawkins is fantastic, too. DREAMING OF YOU by Lisa Kleypas is a favorite re-read! So swoony! I'll add some more as I think of them. Happy Reading!(less)

31 Days of Halloween

Best Time of the Year!

Oh, how I adore October. I usually celebrate the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN by enjoying a horror movie extravaganza. However, this year I am diving into horror fiction. Here is a brief overview of some excellent stories I've read recently...

1. A HOUSE WITH GOOD BONES by T. Kingfisher

Hilarious protagonist, laugh-out-loud humor, creepy storyline, very suspenseful, satisfy

“I'm no light weight, mountain man. It'll take more than a couple of frou-frou Vermont microbrews to get me trashed." She leaned forward and bit his lip. "If you stop, I'm gonna kill you. With your own axe.”
Penny Watson, Lumberjack in Love

“Ami leaned into his side and inhaled the fresh scent of man. “Uh, no. Sometimes my biological clock threatens to explode like a ticking bomb, that’s all. Rachel is so lucky. Nat is a doll. Doug adores them. Don’t mind me, I’m just wishing my laundry pile was filled with boxer shorts and Cinderella T-shirts. I’ll get over it.”
“Why do you have to get over it,” Marcus asked gently. “Sounds like a nice dream to me.”
...a few pages later

Things were looking up. If he could just convince her his boxer shorts belonged in her laundry basket, he’d be right on board with her six-month plan”

“I don’t want to see Bev get hurt. Not after all those years of shoveling Roger’s shit, and um…this is awkward. I’m just wondering—”

“I’m keeping her,” Tom finally said with exasperation.

John choked on his beer. “You’re keeping her?”

“That’s what I said.”

“Does she know you’re keeping her?”

“Nope. Not yet. Keep it under your hat.”

“No problem. Good luck.”

“I don’t need any goddamned luck. I got daisies.”

Hi Amanda! Yep, I decided to write a couple more lumberjack books! Next one is about Marcus's younger brother...Jack! ;^) And the third one is about a lumberjack competition. They are really fun to write. Thanks so much!

Hi Mary! go to your profile page, then go to "edit data" in the profile box, then you'll see a list of things under your profile photo, including "edit blog"--hit that. Then, you'll see instructions for adding a blog if you already have one. good luck!

I am waiting for a response from the marketing director at TWRP about the pdf files. Will get back to you as soon as I hear from her. Thanks for that awesome plug on the Ami boards for my book! You are hilarious. Self-promotion is sort of a waste of time, in my opinion. No one is really listening to an author pimping her own novel. It has to come from other readers who enjoyed the story. I have to say that it is very nerve-wracking wondering if readers/reviewers will like my book. But I have a pretty tough skin after the contests I did (got perfect scores, as well as crappy scores--some people loved my book, and some did not!!) Such is life, and dealing with the criticism is a skill that all writers need to learn. I hope you like my story...I would describe it as a "light little Christmas ditty"--nothing too heavy or serious. Fun for the holidays!

K. Thanks Penny! Ya - If the pdf format will convert to text via my Adobe Standard program (some do), it should be fine. However, if it's of the "protected" variety (drm) . . . I'm sunk (Kindle can read unprotected mobipocket, txt, and pdf without any/or minor conversion)! :( I'll have to send it to Amazon and have it converted I suppose! With all your Ami buddies . . . maybe you should think about publishing in Kindle? (Hint!) LOL! You do have a bit of an edge on all those self-promoters over there -- You've always been a "poster/one of us" first and foremost! With all the books we've read in common, I can't wait to see how romantic your book has turned out! I have a sneaking suspicion I'm going to love it -- I'm already loving the premise. :)

Hi K! If you purchase the book at the Wild Rose Press website, it is available in 3 formats...Adobe (pdf), MSReader, and Web (HTML). Not sure if Kindle is only able to read books from the Amazon website, or other pdf files as well. My book will be sold at some other e-book sites, like Fictionwise, All Romance Ebooks, and Mybookstore (as far as I know). I am definitely planning a 5-book series, one story for each brother. Right now I'm working on the second one, called Sweet Magik (which is Oskar's story). I can't believe the book is coming out next week!

K. Hi Penny: I just noticed your book "Sweet Inspirations" is coming out on Dec. 2. Sounds really interesting and will be nice to read during the holidays (with the "5 Klaus sons," sounds like it could become a series?). Do you know if it's going to be published in a format that is compatible with Kindle? Congratulations and thanks a bunch.
K.

Carolyn Crane Hey Penny!

Okay, I'm still figuring this thing out, but it's fun.
