They had done an acoustic and unplugged album of their Led Zepplin songs, with a 30 piece orchestra, and took it on a world tour. My friend Steve had seen a show earlier on the tour, said it was good, and we got tickets for the very last show of the tour at Madison Sq. Garden in New York. I had never seen Led Zepplin in concert, having been too young in the 70s, so this was the closest I would get to one of their concerts. Lights go down, music starts, Wanton song, except instead of acoustic, it's a full-on electric guitar with distortion, electric bass, drums. The crowd rose to its feet. I turned to Steve and asked did they do this the last time? He said no. Page-Plant rocked out the entire last show, and they still had the 30-piece orchestra for the songs that lent themselves to orchestration, like Kashmir. I got to see my Zepplin show after all. No one sat for the entire two hours. It was one long encore of Zepplin's greatest hits. A very close second was Paul McCartney at Yankee Stadium about 6 years ago. (less)

Portrayals Of Privilege In Guardians Of Aandor Series

Privilege—as a concept, a racial or economic barrier, or an unfair advantage for some—has captured the current zeitgeist's most progressive thinkers, sparking debate on the ethics of what is fair and unfair advantage. I touched upon the idea of privilege in TheGuardians of Aandor series since the feudal nature of the alternate universe lends itself easily to the discussion, though I applied a Read more of this blog post »

“Dorn exuded confidence, like someone raised in an exclusive Northeastern boarding school; the kind with crested jackets and ties, where teachers lived in fear of their students”
Edward Lazellari, Awakenings

“So is that a yes,' the sheriff asked.
Daniel held his breath. The lawsuit, the cost of bail, these were enough to push Clyde into the zone. The world stopped on Rita's next breath. A single assertion could end this mess--protective custody; the sheriff would shield Daniel from Clyde's wrath.
'No,' Rita said in a steady strong voice. 'My husband does not abuse us.'
The lie kicked Daniel as hard as Clyde's boot.”
Edward Lazellari, Awakenings
