Primary sex determination
Sex determination of the gonads
Textual definition
The process by which the developing animal gonad commits to its sexual fate, that is, to differentiate into an ovary that produces larger gametes (macrogametes/ova/eggs), a testis that produces smaller gametes (microgametes/sperm), or an ovotestis that produces both gametes simultaneously or alternatingly. Cnidarian and Porifera animals are hermaphrodites but lack gonads, and instead, produce both gametes in a loose aggregation.

Should we move the sentence " Cnidarian and Porifera animals are hermaphrodites but lack gonads, and instead, produce both gametes in a loose aggregation." to the Additional context field, edited as "Some animals, such as Cnidarian and Porifera, are hermaphrodites but lack gonads, and instead, produce both gametes in a loose aggregation"? I couldn't edit my entry above, not sure how to do that. Please advise.
