Update log : Updated skill priority and added character’s mechanism.

Rina Overview

Rina is one of the Electric characters with role. Rina is one of the S Rank characters in Zenless Zone Zero.

Rina Build is included in this guide, you can jump to Rina Build Here.

Rina Mechansim

Rina is currently the only Rank S Support character in the game and the most compatible Support for Electric Teams. Her unique mechanism of providing buffs through Drusilla and Anastella on the field allows her to offer multiple layers of enhancements to the entire team, such as PEN Ratio, Shock duration, and Shock damage increase, under the dual influence of her Core Skill and team passive.

Additionally, since all of Rina’s skills are related to Drusilla and Anastella, we don’t need to spend much effort or battlefield time on Rina to maximize the buffs. This makes her an efficient, assist Support character with comprehensive buffing abilities despite her brief battlefield presence.

Rina Best W-Engine

The percentage indicates the Support Capability comparison relative to the W-engine marked with 100%.

The difference of Rina’s viable W-engine is very small.

For S Rank W-engines, the top choice is Rina’s signature W-engine, Weeping Cradle, which provides Energy Regen, crucial for T1 Rina, and also offers PEN Ratio.

For A Rank W-engine, R5 Unfettered Game Ball is even better than R1 Weeping Cradle. R5 Slice of Time is more or less the same with R1 Weeping Cralde. which can achieve a similar effect in the absence of the signature W-engine. And then it’s Piper’s signature weapon, which increases ATK of whole team when any team members deal DMG.

Among B Rank W-engines, [Reverb] Mark II is the only viable option, enhancing self-energy regeneration and the team’s AM, and can be used as a transitional option in the early stages of the game.

Sub Stats

For Disk Drives, it is recommended to use 4 pcs Freedom Blues and 2 pcs Thunder Metal. Freedom Blues can reduce the target’s Anomaly Buildup RES, facilitating quicker entry into the anomaly state. The 2 pcs set bonus of Thunder Metal increases Electro DMG, but since Rina’s damage contribution is minimal, this results in only a slight improvement. In the early game, collecting 4 pcs Freedom Blues is sufficient; the remaining slots are not critical. Prioritize resources for the Main DPS.

For main stats, Slot 4 should be AP, Slot 5 must be PEN Ratio to maximize the core’s bonus effect, and Slot 6 should be Energy Regen to sustain the cycle of her Ex Special. With Rina’s core skill fully upgraded, a single PEN Ratio main stat in Slot 5 can nearly maximize the passive’s bonus effect. Sub-stats are less critical, as Rina primarily serves as a support and her contribution to DMG output is minimal. Choices for sub-stats can be AP or PEN.

Rina Team

Rina Electric Shock Team

Rina’s skills make her ideal for Electro Team. Currently, due to the limited number of characters, only one complete team can be formed, which is the Shock team consisting of Rina, Grace, and Anton.

This setup is currently one of the most complete systems and the only one relying on a single attribute. It is recommended to use Electroboo as the Bangboo, which can help characters achieve Shock Buildup more quickly. As a support, Rina’s main role in the team is to provide PEN ratio boosts through her passive for the entire team and enhance damage during the Shock state with her passive skills. Pay attention to the doll’s presence on the field and switch her out to maintain the buff as needed. Grace has a high Anomaly Buildup rate, combined with excellent AP and AM, allowing her to trigger Shock in a very short time and deal significant Shock damage. The continuous effect of Shock provides smooth and stable electro damage, which should not be underestimated as it can rival direct damage. Grace’s role is to ensure the team can consistently trigger Shock.

Anton, as an Attack-focused character, has impressive skill multipliers and can trigger additional Shock damage with his passive, amplifying the Shock effect, making him the best Burst role in the team. When enemies enter the Shock state, switch to Anton and activate his Ex to enter the burst state. With Rina’s support, the Shock state can sustain one to two sets of Basic Attacks, providing intermittent burst damage. Anton’s energy is crucial; without energy to use Ex Special, his output will be significantly reduced. In practice, it is recommended that Grace use a combo of ‘Special > Dodge > Special > Dodge > Special > Basic Attack’ in a continuous loop until the monster is Shocked. Once Shocked, have Rina refresh the buff before switching to Anton, and Anton use Ex Special and then Basic Attack until energy is depleted or Shock ends.

If Anton lacks energy, he can still use Basic Attacks since the continuous Shock effect requires attacks to trigger. This ensures the current Shock damage is maximized and allows Anton to recharge energy for the next cycle. The team’s core logic is purely Anomaly Buildup, revolving entirely around Shock and Anton’s energy cycles, sacrificing DMG burst in Daze period.

Early game bosses are primarily robots with electro weaknesses, making the electro team very powerful in the early stages of the game. Pulling either Rina or Grace significantly enhances the early game experience.

Rina Alternate Electric Team

Rina provides team buffs, Anby handles Stun, and Anton is responsible for burst damage. Unlike Grace, who is a pure Anomaly character with almost no Daze ability, Anby is a Stun-type character capable of providing efficient Daze and some electro buildup on enemies. Thus, adding Anby means the team can utilize both Daze and Shock abilities.

The actual experience will differ from the Shock team in two main ways: First, Anby’s is melee, unlike Grace’s range, which increases the operational difficulty compared to Grace. Second, Anton’s burst is during the Daze period. It is best to control the overlap of Shock and Daze periods so that the DMG increase during the Daze period can also benefit Shock.

When relying on Anby alone to handle both Daze and Buildup, the team will generally enter the Daze state earlier. Therefore, it is often necessary to allocate some on-field time to both Rina and Anby, allowing Rina to help Anby trigger Shock. For example, frequently switching to Rina to use Evasive Assist, performing a set of Basic Attacks, and then switching back to Anby.

The challenge with this team is that the ratio of the enemy’s buildup and Daze bars is not fixed, making it difficult to ensure these periods overlap. However, since Anby and Rina’s buildup speed is much slower than Grace’s, Anton has enough time to recover energy, so there is no concern about his energy cycle.

Other ZZZ Character Builds

As the only pure ranged character among the initial three characters, Billy’s core gameplay involves simple operation, flexible movements, and maintaining a safe distance from strong enemies. Billy’s combo is unique; the second half of his crouching shot can be infinitely extended by holding the Basic Attack button. Billy’s mechanism also increases the damage of this crouching shot. The output logic is straightforward, but the performance in terms of damage is quite poor, making Billy a character with a low ceiling, not suitable for extreme damage output challenges. However, with an extremely low operation difficulty and safe attack distance, Billy can still be a character to rely on during difficult stages.

Pros

  • Simple operation
  • Fully ranged character

Cons

  • Very low damage

Lucy’s unique support mode, featuring a one-time activation semi-permanent auto-combat pig squad and attack boost support through hands-free skills, allows her to provide damage increase to teammates while also having her own damage output. She is an excellent versatile attack support for quick clears, unaffected by the environment or pairings. Lucy’s pig squad mechanism means that once Special is activated in the battle, the pigs will continue to fight alongside, whether Lucy is on-field or off-field. Lucy’s buffs depend on her own ATK but cannot exceed 600, which is 400 lower than Soukaku’s. Since Lucy’s buffs are based on a percentage of ATK plus a fixed value, any weapon with an attack main stat can reach the limit.

Pros

  • Low requirements for Main Stats and Sub Stats
  • Has some damage output capability

Cons

  • As a support, the buffs are somewhat insufficient

Soukaku’s attack actions are slow and lack mobility, giving Soukaku no advantage in rapid fight. However, his unique Banner skill transfers the attack boost effect to teammates and increases the whole team’s Ice DMG, making Soukaku a highly versatile Ice-type attack support and the best partner for Ellen.

Pros

  • Provides comprehensive buffs
  • Ellen’s best support

Cons

  • Low mobility
