Lycaon Overview

Lycaon is one of the Ice characters with role. Lycaon is one of the S Rank agent in Zenless Zone Zero.

Lycaon Build is included in this guide, you can jump to Lycaon Build Here.

Lycaon Mechanism

Lycaon’s strength lies in his Basic Attack and Special  , which are also ice damage, increasing both damage and daze multipliers. This low-threshold amplification mechanism allows Lycaon’s strong period to be freed from the constraints of energy resonance value, making his Basic Attacks smoother and more stable. This simple, efficient, stable, and reliable offensive approach makes Lycaon a versatile and dependable character for long-duration battlefield engagements.

Although the Charged Basic Attack and Special  functionality are not identical, Lycaon’s core passive provides different bonuses to these two skills. Charged Basic Attack increases daze efficiency, while his Special reduces enemy’s ice resistance. Charged Basic Attack offers a longer invincibility frame and a better energy / daze conversion ratio, making Charged Basic Attack highly recommended. Compared to other Daze characters, Lycaon’s short-term burst daze ability may be slightly lower. However, the longer Lycaon stays on the battlefield, the more apparent his smooth advantage becomes, increasing his sustained battlefield advantage.

Lycaon Best W-Engine

The percentage indicates the Daze Efficiency comparison relative to the W-engine marked with 100%.

For S Rank W-engine, the top recommendation is The Restrained. It provides an Impact attribute that can significantly enhance Lycaon’s Daze capability. Additionally, its special effects offer a considerable increase in Ice DMG, as well as boosts to Basic Attack damage and Daze multipliers, all of which are attributes Lycaon needs. Hellfire Gears

Among A Rank W-engines, Six Shooter also matches well with Lycaon and serves as a good alternative to The Restrained. First, Six Shooter provides the Impact attribute that Lycaon needs. Secondly, its special effects can increase the Daze value caused by Ex Special, and since Charged Ex Special is one of Lycaon’s main means of creating Daze, it is quite compatible. Besides Six Shooter, Precious Fossilized Core is also a usable W-engine for Lycaon, although its benefits are not as high as the former two. Generally, Six Shooter is still the top recommendation for A Rank W-engines.

Among B Rank W-engines, [Vortex] Arrow’s attributes and special effects are also quite suitable for Lycaon and can be chosen as a transitional W-engine.

Slot 6

Main Stats

(AP if Slot 4 used AP) > Crit Rate = Crit DMG > ATK% > PEN > ATK

Sub Stats

The top recommendation is the 4 pcs Shockstar Disco set. This set provides a 6% Impact with the 2 pcs set bonus, and the 4 pcs set bonus strengthens the Daze value for Basic Attack, Dash Attack, Dodge Counter, and EX Special. It perfectly covers Lycaon’s main methods of creating Daze, making it a set of Disk Drives tailor-made for Stun characters. The remaining 2 slots can be chosen from the following three Disk Drives: Polar Metal, which provides a 10% Ice DMG, or Freedom Blues and Woodpecker, which primarily offer AP and Crit Rate, respectively. All of these are key attributes that can effectively boost Lycaon’s DMG.

For the main stats of Disk Drives, in Slot 4, we choose Crit Rate, Crit DMG, or AP. For Slot 5, we choose Ice DMG Bonus, and for Slot 6, we choose Impact. When selecting sub-stats, players need to be clear about their core goals for the build and the main attributes they want to emphasize. For example, when Slot 4 is Crit Rate or Crit DMG, we should prioritize stacking Crit Rate or Crit DMG and ATK%. When Slot 4 is AP, the sub-stats should also prioritize AP. This ensures that the equipment in multiple slots is as consistent as possible, maximizing the character’s traits.

Lycaon Team

Lycaon Pure Ice Team

In the Pure Ice Team, Bangboo should prioritize Sharkboo, with Penguinboo as the second choice, as both can facilitate faster Ice buildup. This team easily activates the cores of all three characters, encompassing the three basic functions of Stun, Support, and Attack. Soukaku, as an Ice Support character, provides damage buffs and also reduces the enemy’s Ice RES. Ellen, with her very high strength and impressive burst, can quickly reduce enemies’s HP during the Daze period.

However, as the core duo of the pure ice team, Ellen and Soukaku need someone who can break through and shorten the time required to Daze period. Lycaon perfectly fits their needs while also providing a substantial amount of Ice buildup skills. It must be said, Lycaon is the optimal choice for a Stun character in the current Pure Ice Team.

Lycaon Physical Team

The physical team consists of Lycaon, Nekomata, and Corin. In terms of Bangboo, the S Rank choice is Butler first and Starterboo second, while the A Rank Bangboo can be Sumoboo. In this lineup, Lycaon primarily creates Daze on-field. Nekomata can attack frequently through Assist Follow-up, using off-hand Ex Special and then returning off-field. Since Nekomata’s skill Daze multiplier is also decent, she can assist Lycaon in putting enemies into the Daze state faster. During this process, Nekomata can compensate for some DMG by performing small bursts by attack from the back of the target. When enemy is in the Daze state, it’s Corin’s turn to come on the field. Corin’s Ex Special, with various buffs, deals considerable damage. Therefore, during the enemey’s Daze period, after Lycaon applies the vulnerability debuff, Corin can come on the field and use Ex Special to deal massive damage.

In terms of team passives, Lycaon and Corin belong to Victoria Housekeeping Co., while Corin and Nekomata share the same attribute, which successfully triggers all characters’ team passives. To summarize, this is a Daze-oriented team. Due to Nekomata’s presence, the strategy of switching Lycaon and Nekomata allows the enemy to enter the Daze state faster than in the Pure Ice Team, resulting in more frequent Daze periods. However, the damage output during a single Daze period relies almost entirely on Corin, which, in terms of quality, is not as good as Ellen in the Pure Ice Team.

Zhu Yuan is a short burst type character, mainly obtaining ‘Enhanced Shotshells’ through Defensive Counter, Ex Special, Chain, and Ultimate. By holding the Basic Attack button, Zhu Yuan will enter [Suppressive Mode], where Zhu Yuan will consume ‘Enhanced Shotshells’ to perform enhanced Ether attacks.

Pros

  • Short and High burst damage DPS
  • Highest Ultimate DMG multiplier in ver 1.0

Cons

  • The damage rotation needs to be determined based on the number of Enhanced Shotshells, which makes Zhu Yuan’s operation quite challenging.

As the only Fire attribute Attack character in the launch version, Soldier 11’s fire blade damage is stable and her output method is simple. Soldier 11’s skills, chain, or ulti can provide fire enchantment damage increase for the next 8 Basic Attacks. By controlling the rhythm of Basic Attacks and freely triggering the fire blade mechanism, she can seamlessly enter a powerful output state in most environments. The damage of the eight Basic Attacks after is concentrated on the fourth attack, making it quite easy to be interrupted. The fire attribute Basic Attack damage accounts for a significant portion, nearly 50%.

Pros

  • Simple operation and high damage, suitable for beginner players
  • Easy mechanism to enter burst mode

Cons

  • Damage is concentrated on the 4th enhanced Basic Attack, and being interrupted greatly reduces damage

Anby’s characteristics are quick and smooth combos but with low multipliers, and his skills are swift, easy to use, and excellent at stunning enemies. This combination of strong skills and weak combos makes her more inclined to deliver small bursts, making her the best short-cycle battlefield stun character for beginners. As a newbie character, Anby’s gameplay is not complicated, and you don’t need to worry about combo routines. When you don’t have energy, using three Basic Attacks followed by a Charged Attack achieves the highest Daze efficiency. Skills should also be released after the third Basic Attack to fully utilize the character’s performance.

Pros

  • Easy to operate

Cons

  • Daze efficiency relies on energy
