Heaven Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Oh, thinkin' about our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
Now nothin' can take you away from me
We've been down that road before
But that's over now
You keep me comin' back for more

[Chorus]
Baby, you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in Heaven
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
Isn't too hard to see
We're in Heaven

[Verse 2]
Oh, once in your life you find someone
Who will turn your world around
Bring you up when you're feelin' down
Yeah, nothin' could change what you mean to me
Oh, there's lots that I could say
But just hold me now
'Cause our love will light the way
[Chorus]
And baby you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm finding it hard to believe
We're in Heaven
Yeah, love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in Heaven, yeah

[Bridge]
I've been waitin' for so long
For somethin' to arrive
For love to come along
Now our dreams are comin' true
Through the good times and the bad
Yeah, I'll be standin' there by you, oh

[Guitar Solo]

[Chorus]
And baby you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in Heaven
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
Isn't too hard to see
We're in Heaven, Heaven
Woh-oh-oh
[Outro]
You're all that I want
You're all that I need

About

Genius Annotation

A song that appeared on the soundtrack to a panned 1983 movie called A Night in Heaven, which later became the fourth track of Bryan Adams’s 1984 album Reckless, and the third single from the album. Written by Adams and his songwriting partner Jim Vallance, “Heaven” is a power ballad about a love between two people that was heavily inspired by Journey’s Faithfully, made in the previous year, and even features that band’s drummer at the time, Steve Smith. It almost didn’t make it to the album, for both Adams and producer Jimmy Iovine felt that it didn’t really fit in an album filled with harder rock songs. However, for reasons yet unknown, Adams changed his mind at the last minute and kept it in anyway.

The rest is history, for “Heaven” became Bryan Adams' first #1 single and one of the most well-known singles in his entire discography.

Genius Answer

In an interview with Carl Wiser from Songfact Adams has said:

Everyone loves this song, and I was thrilled at the dance version produced by Yanou. It’s always interesting to hear how other people interpret your music, sometimes, like this version, they connect.
