Frostpunk 2 is unique among city-builder games because it has a somewhat discernible story. In this game, you are the steward of a city built around a steam generator. London and the rest of the world have fallen, gripped by an unending winter that threatens to blacken skies and appendages alike.
As the steward of this city, you hold dominion over its citizens and their well-being. Being a leader doesn’t guarantee your safety, however, as anarchy and rebellion always threaten to tip over the delicate balance of your careful micromanagement.
Frostpunk 2 Gameplay
Frostpunk 2’s gameplay is a good mix of city-builder elements and survival mechanics, forcing you to choose between your citizens’ happiness or their survival against the bitter cold of the eternal winter. Much like the first game, your city is built around a massive furnace that delivers heat to various workstations and gathering zones across your skyline. The freezing winds will only get colder, though, and your resources will eventually run out. Before long, harder and harder decisions must be made to ensure survival. But unfortunately, not everyone’s going to agree with them.
This is where the game’s new parliamentary voting system will come into play. As shown in the trailer, new laws won’t be ratified by your choice alone, as a voting council must be held before every single one. City politics will only add to the pile of things you have to attend to as the steward, but when the alternative is to brave the chill outside the walls, there's no alternative, is there?
