Valve Introduces New Steam Charts Page for Steam Deck
Enhancing Game Discovery
Valve has unveiled a new Steam Charts page dedicated to showcasing the top played games on the Steam Deck today. This new feature, updated daily, aims to highlight the most popular titles among Steam Deck users, providing a fresh method for gamers to discover new games to play on their handheld device.
The Steam Charts page is designed to help users find games that are optimized for the Steam Deck. Valve has noted that while some games perform excellently on a desktop PC, they may not offer the same experience on the handheld device. This new chart addresses this issue by highlighting games that are proven to run well on the Steam Deck.
The data for the daily top 100 played games list is sourced from a rolling time window of the past week. However, as Valve’s Lawrence Yang explained to The Verge, the list isn't solely based on the number of players. Instead, it also considers how much interest there is in a game among Steam Deck owners. Yang stated, "The metric we’re using to determine top-played is a combination of unique users and interest. Hades 2 has only been out for a month, but so many Steam Deck players have it as one of their top played games for the entire year, that it was lifted in the rankings."

⚫︎ Ranking Changes: Users can track day-to-day changes in each game’s ranking, providing insights into trends and shifts in popularity.
⚫︎ Compatibility Verification: The chart indicates whether a game is verified for the Steam Deck, ensuring it runs without compatibility issues.
⚫︎ Time Filters: While the default view shows the past week's top games, users can also filter the list to see the top games from the past month or the past year.

The launch of the new Steam Charts page coincides with Valve’s Summer Sale, which began yesterday. As part of the sale, Valve is offering a 15% discount on the base Steam Deck models until 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on July 11th. This discount reduces the price of the 64GB LCD-equipped Steam Deck to $296.95 (a $52 reduction) and the 512GB variant to $381.65 (a $67 reduction). The 512GB model also features an antiglare etched glass cover on its seven-inch display.
While the higher-end Steam Deck OLED, with its larger 90Hz display and bigger battery, is not discounted, the standard LCD models remain highly capable. The original Steam Deck offers the same performance and resolution (1280 x 800) as the OLED model but with a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz. It can handle most compatible games on Steam, except for the most graphically demanding titles.
