Alexandria on Instagram: "the trick to perfect waistband topstitching is to attach the inside of the waistband first. And then you can fold the waistband to the right side, tucking in the seam allowance, and topstitch from the right side.     This is the reverse way of every set of instructions I’ve ever seen but I can assure you it works! Attach the zipper to your garment and make sure there is some excess length at the end of the zipper. 2. Cut off the excess down to 6–7 cm (about 2 3/4”). 3. Cut along the zipper teeth, stopping 2 cm (3/4”) short of the marked zipper end. Cut off the zipper teeth leaving the tape intact. 4. Seal the tape edges with a lighter. 5. Fold the tape edges over the zipper end, placing one on top of the other. Press for convenience. Fold the remaining edges under the seam allowances and cut off the excess. 6. Secure by machine-stitching along the edges of the seam allowances.
