The Scene At St. Croix…2

After fighting my way though all the slow traffic west of Stillwater on Hwy 36 connected to the construction of a new highway bridge over the St. Croix, I figured no way I could beat the train. I hit stoplights, construction zones, and downtown Stillwater. I pulled up to the west end of the bridge, hopped out and listened – no radio remember? Then I decided in case I did beat him, I’d better be ready. So I hiked down to “the spot” the hole in the trees that fans keep open for just this purpose. I hiked through a bit of snow – did I mention I was wearing shorts and tennis shoes? I found the spot, and waited about five minutes – and heard a horn! Wow, I lucked out. A few minutes later the train rumbled across the bridge. All right!

Hmm…that depot in still standing in New Richmond That’s not far, I’ll just head over there and shoot the train there, then head home. Here we go…
