Silence is a magic spell in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It is provided by
Binding Materia, and inflicts the 
Silence effect, which prevents a target from casting spells for its duration.
It is also used by Twin Brain against the player.
Use[]
Silence has a small 4 MP cost, and can be used by party members with a level 2 binding materia. It applies the Silence status effect, which causes a target to be unable to cast spells for its duration. This means that Silence can greatly weaken enemies who deal great damage from spells.
Silence is less potent of a spell than 
Sleep or Stop, which prevent enemies from acting entirely. However, it is cheaper to cast, and can be a better use therefore if targeted well. It can also pressure some enemies when used,
The Sleep spell can be improved by pairing binding materia with 
Magnify Materia to cast Silence on all enemies at once, though this may be a less efficient use than pairing it with 
Time Materia to simply cast Stop n all instead. Silence's duration can be extended with Magic Focus Materia, but this is an inefficient use of the materia.
