Golden ring once worn by an ancient hero. Boosts both physical and magical attack power.
Description
Hero's Ring, also known as Hero Ring,[1][2] is a relic in Final Fantasy VI. It increases all damage dealt by the user by 25%, making it a useful boost for both physical attackers and spellcasters.
Betting a Hero's Ring at the Coliseum pits the player against a Gorgimera for a Guard Bracelet.
Obtained[]
Hero's Ring can be bought in the Auction House, is found in Dragon's Neck Cabin, Figaro Cave, Zone Eater's Belly, and Kefka's Tower, and won by betting the Guard Bracelet in the Dragon's Neck Coliseum.
Mechanics[]
Magical bonuses from Hero's Ring stack, but physical bonuses do not. As such, Hero's Ring will stack with a second Hero's Ring or Earring for a 50% magic damage boost, but would not stack with a second Hero's Ring or Gigas Glove. If the character whom Umaro tosses (Berserker Ring effect) has Gigas Glove equipped, the damage increase is applied to the toss.
Use[]
Hero's Ring is a basic damage-boosting relic for both types of damage. This makes it very beneficial for characters such as Terra, Celes, Sabin, and Edgar, who deal both physical and magic damage (in Sabin and Edgar's case, due more to their Blitz and Tools commands, respectively). For characters that focus more toward dealing one type of damage, it is more efficient to target that damage type specifically with a relic for them, such as Gigas Glove or Earring, respectively.
Hero's Ring can be paired with an Earring for a 50% magic damage boost. Though Gigas Glove does not stack with Hero's Ring, Genji Glove can still be used to deal more damage. However, it may be better to instead equip them with a defensive relic to provide immunity to status effects. Another option is to pair Hero's Ring with a relic that cuts MP costs, such as Gold Hairpin.
Later in the game, as more valuable relics, such as Genji Glove, Master's Scroll, Celestriad, and Soul of Thamasa, become available, Hero's Ring becomes less useful.
