Iruha

Iruha (イルハ Iruha) is an Alchemist and father to Zalam.^[1]

Appearance[]

Iruha’s appearance greatly resembles that of his son, also appearing to be a skinny, frail old man, wearing a robe, a large necklace around his neck and carries a staff with him. However all his notable facial features are mirror inverted, having a long wavy hair that covers his right eye, while completely bald around his crown, has half a moustache on the left side of his face and half a long beard on his right side.^[2]

When Sabertooth Mages were sent to the heart of the forest by Zalam to locate Iruha, they are ambushed by plants who roped themselves around Minerva Orland to restrain her, but she breaks free and the Mage fight back against the plants until they receded. Iruha then introduces himself as he explained the plants were created by him to protect himself. They then noticed that Iruha greatly resembles a mirrored version of Zalam, Sting Eucliffe suspects they’re twins but Iruha states Zalam is his son, which Sting claims to be a lie. They requested Iruha to make them a Philosopher’s Stone to use against one of the Five Dragon Gods. While Iruha explains that he has tried to create it before, it was still beyond his abilities.

Zalam then appears and suggests that they try together. The father and son pair then quickly embrace each other upon their reunion. They suggest combining their powers might give them a chance to create the stone itself, so the two use Alchemy to fuse themselves together into a young woman named Iruzala, welcoming everyone to her workshop, much to everyone’s shock.^[3]

As Zalam's identity is revealed as the real Duke Barbaroa, Iruha disappears, leaving his true nature questionable.^[4]

Alchemy and Abilities[]

Plant Alchemy: Iruha is capable to alchemize plants to move and control them. He can even set to automatically move on their and attack even from a distance. As he lives in a forest, he has a nearly endless mass of plants to control.^[5] (Unnamed)

• Guard Plants (ガードプラント Gādo Puranto): Iruha creates guards made of plants to protect him from intruders as he lives in the middle of a forest as they automatically ensnare anyone who comes too close until he calls them back.^[5]

Father-Son Alchemy Merge: Using Alchemy, Zalam and Iruha fuse themselves together into Iruzala.^[6]

Equipment[]

Staff: Just like Zalam, Iruha also carries a wooden staff, the head of which appears to have a zigzag shape.^[2]
