Strategy[]
Phase 1 (100% - 60%)[]
- You fight Elnath alone in this phase.
- Elnath starts a countdown every turn starting from 3. If the countdown goes to 0, it will use Liquidate.
- Hitting Elnath with lightning element magic or ability type, will trigger Stored Electricity has been released and resets the countdown to 3. This can only be done twice.
- Every turn, it will use an ability that ramps up as its HP goes down:
- 100% - 90%: Revenge Level 1, 6 normal attacks.
- 90% - 80%: Revenge Level 2, 6 normal attacks.
- 80% - 70%: Revenge Level 3, 6 normal attacks.
- 70% - 65%: Revenge Level 4, 5 normal attacks.
- 65% - 60%: Revenge Level 5, 5 normal attacks.
Keep breaks up at all times and use a strong physical cover tank. Use the first phase as a breathing room to build up your LB and esper if you need it later. Avoid Liquidate by using lightning magic on count 1, but since you can only do this twice, the maximum turn you can go without Liquidate is 12 turn.
If you want to avoid DEF break you can either use anti break ability or 1-turn it from 70% to 59%, starting its next phase immediately.
Phase 2 (59% - 30%)[]
- Elnath will use the following immediately on Phase 2:
- Summon Elnath - Left Arm and Elnath - Right Arm.
- Elnath will become immune to both physical and magic damage. It cannot be dispelled.
- Plasma Wave.
- Elnath alternates between using Shocking Glow and Blind Cyclone every turn.
- Left and right arm uses Window Bomb and Electro Lazer (ST lightning magic) every turn. Storm Cannon and Electro Cannon (AoE lightning magic) when either arm is dead.
- Depending on which arm you kill first, Elnath will remove one damage immunity for the rest of the battle:
- Killing left arm = Elnath is physical immune.
- Killing right arm = Elnath is magic immune.
- Killing both on the same turn = Elnath is physical immune.
If you are aiming for magic kill mission, you will have to kill Left Arm first before killing Right Arm, and then push Elnath to Phase 3. There are more lightning attacks in this phase, so increase your lightning resistance if you haven't.
Phase 3 (29% - 0%)[]
- Elnath will use the following immediately on Phase 3 and will keep on using the Genocide Modes every turn:
- Type 999: Genocide Mode. This will not be re-used again.
- Genocide Mode: Destruction
- Genocide Mode: Eradication
- Plasma Wave will be used at 10% HP threshold.
The damage from the phase change will easily wipe you if you aren't prepared. You can easily ignore this if you are planning to 1-turn Elnath with backup units. But if you need your attacks unit to survive, you can easily mitigate its attacks with AoE reraise (e.g. Rikku's LB).
You can try to survive both Genocide Modes every turn, which should be easier after dispelling its ATK/MAG. Or try to 1-turn it from 29% HP, which is not very difficult either:
- Fully stacked Thundaja with 950-980 MAG and 45% SPR break using reflectga trick will work.
- Fully chained Bahamut with 100% EVO MAG (e.g. enhanced Garnet) will work.
- Only hybrid and magic attack can chain if it's still magic immune.
- Be sure to cast a magic spell right before it dies for the mission.
- Other strong magic attacker will work as well.
- You can ignore Genocide Mode: Destruction with Sara's Retreat Command easily.
Tips[]
- See testimonials and discussions.
- The enemies have physical or magic immunity, a mix of physical and magic attacks are recommended. Hybrid damage will work, however part of the damage will be resisted. Summon attack will also bypass any resistance.
- The enemies have -50% lightning resistance, but lightning magic should be used carefully on Phase 1.
- Many of their attacks are lightning element, gear up or buff with lightning resistance.
- Elnath is vulnerable to all breaks, while the arms are immune to ATK/MAG break.
- Human and machine killer is effective, but dual races means they are only half effective.
- Elnath HP threshold: 59%, 29%. You can't damage Elnath past this threshold in a single turn.
- Recommended roles:
- Healer.
- Physical cover tank. Having a full dodge tank will work here.
- Magic attacker with access to lightning damage.
- Physical attacker.
- Breaker.
- Stats/resistance/mitigation buffer.
- Optional roles:
- Magic cover tank.
- Hybrid or summon attacker.
- MP sustain.
- Reraise.
