After years of name mix-ups, Halle Bailey is inciting even more confusion by becoming Halle Berry for Halloween.
On Wednesday, Bailey unveiled her stylish costume on Instagram, showing off a detailed recreation of Berry’s memorable look as Bond Girl, Jinx Johnson in Die Another Day. Posing for photos, Bailey wore an identical orange bikini and white knife belt, while sporting the older actress’ iconic pixie cut.
The Little Mermaid star even mimicked Berry’s stance, posing against a beach backdrop to recreate a specific shot from the 2002 film. It was so convincing that Bailey later reassured fans on her Instagram Stories that her Halloween photos were not AI-generated.
"Lol, it wasn’t AI,” she told followers. “The wig really fit, I couldn’t believe it either.”
Over on her own Instagram page, Berry praised Bailey’s spot-on recreation. “Awe,” she wrote. “My girl did that! What a huge compliment! Love you angel.”
Bailey was overjoyed, resharing the post with the caption, “My queen approves!! My life is made.”
Bailey wasn’t the only star who turned to Berry’s iconic filmography for Halloween inspiration. Fellow singer Tyla dug deeper into the actress’ past and donned her own pixie cut to become Berry as Sharon Stone from 1994’s The Flintstones.
"Well I’ve been a very bad girl, but you have to admit…I was very verrrrry good at it,” Tyla captioned her post. “This is too good,” Berry wrote in response.
The coordinated Berry tribute continued with a costume from rapper Coi Leray, who donned a leather catsuit in honor of Berry’s starring role in 2004’s Catwoman. “Killed it,” Berry wrote, resharing the post to her followers.
Berry herself opted for a simple Halloween getup, wearing witchy robes and acquiring a black cat of her own to strike a pose before a lineup of jack-o-lanterns. “No need for tricks when me and my little black kitty are the treat,” she captioned the gallery.
While Berry had words of praise for all three artists, only one of them maintains the coveted status of being her name-twin. While Bailey is well-aware of causing occasional identity confusion, she has no qualms about sharing a name with the screen legend.
"My family, we've always loved Halle Berry. I mean, she's amazing," Bailey said during a May 2023 visit to Live with Kelly and Mark. "Originally when I was a baby, they wanted to name me Hailey but my last name is Bailey, so that wouldn't have worked. They ultimately decided ‘Halle,’ and it's very similar to Halle Berry. But there's no one else I would rather have a similar name to ‘cause she's so cool."
She added that after years of social media interactions, they finally crossed paths at the 2023 Oscars. “That was my first time meeting her and she’s like, an angel,” Bailey said.
