Judging from this 1951 photo(and others), it seems that the flower sellers operated in Parliament street during the fourties and fifties.

La Bouquetière

Flower sellers wearing conical hats in the old quarter of Hanoi wander the streets with baskets of colourful flowers.

This photo really reflects the vibrancy that is India - they love their marigolds and the flowers are festooned on shrines, cars, wedding bowers - and anywhere else that you can hang them. Orange certainly is a colour that you see a lot in India - and the jasmine smelled gorgeous!
