Mampong is the administrative capital of the Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti region. In 2021, Mampong had a population of about 117,000 people.

Understand

Mampong is located in a mountainous zone. Ashante Mampong is an educational hub in the Ashanti Region with institutions such as University of Winneba College of Agriculture, Mampong Technical College of Education, St Monica's College of Education, Mampong Nursing and Midwifery Training College, 3 senior high schools and numerous junior high and elementary schools.

The chief of the community is the Mamponghene who holds a great chieftaincy title in the Ashanti kingdom.
