East Karachi: Difference between revisions

East Karachi is a district in Karachi. Home to Karachi's largest parks including Hill Park. National Stadium, the famous Expo Center is also located in this district. This is also where the city's airport is located. Landhi and adjacent areas are lower middle class areas and Korangi is the east industrial area.

If you're in Karachi city, you can get here through just about any means. This district is very well-connected with the rest of Karachi, due to excellent roads, and most bus routes pass through here. Simply hop in any taxi and ask for any town such as Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Korangi, Landhi or Shah Faisal. Karachi Airport is located in this district.

• Aga Khan University Hospital, (near Karsaz). The building is famous for its modernist architecture that has been carefully designed to take into account the history, climate, environment, symbolism and the spiritual values of the Muslim culture. Also see lake gardens & hill on its backside.

• Pakistan Air Force Museum, [1], Karsaz. An impressive outdoor museum. Well organized displays, Over 30 aircraft have been displayed in vast lush green parks, the main museum is located inside the building and features all major fighter aircraft that have been used by the Pakistan Air Force during wars with India. The museum also houses the Vickers VC.1 Viking used by Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah and a Folland Gnat of Indian Airforce, which was captured by Pakistani forces from Pasror in 1965 war. Guided tours are free, and uncrowded on weekdays. Rides for children's and a restaurant also available. Opens from 8am to 9pm daily. Only families are allowed on Sunday.

• Pakistan Maritime Museum, Karsaz. Very close to the above PAF Museum. A well maintained naval museum and park which comprises six galleries and an auditorium. Some good outdoor exhibits. Opens from 8 am to 10 pm daily. On weekends, only families allows.

• PIA Planetarium, (next to Karachi Expo Centre, on main University Rd). A virtual observatory which regularly puts on shows about the solar system and cosmic phenomenon. The shows in English are much more detailed, and are held every Sunday evening. On other days there are only Urdu shows. A ticketed, guided tour by an officer enables one to view the plane from the inside; its cockpit, pilot seats, and various other areas. Tickets for the planetarium show are Rs 45, and for the show plus the plane tour are Rs 60.

• Karachi Expo Centre, [2], Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town (on main University road, opposite City and District Government Offices.) Pakistan's biggest convention center comprises on three independent halls.
• Charminar. A replica of the famous Charminar is at Bahadurabad roundabout.
• Aziz Bhatti Park near Federal Urdu University in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. A huge park but only developed only a little. Has a natural like inside the park.

Amusement parks & wildlife in Karachi East:

• Askari Park, Main University Rd. The reptilian house and aquarium are worth a visit.

• Arena, [3], Karsaz. A gaming arcade offering ice skating, bowling alley, minigolf, arcade games, rock-climbing and much more
• Karachi Visual Park, Well its nothing compared to the ones in Dubai and Vegas but for those who wants to see the glimpse.

• Safari Park, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, [4]. Park has a small zoo, a children's playland and some gardens. This park is one of the major recreation and amusement park in the city. Catch a bird's-eye view of the animals from the Chair lifts in the park.

• Go-Aish Adventure Park, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, [5]. A theme park offering many activities, adjacent of above Safari Park.
• Aladdin Amusement Park, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, [6]. Section of above Safar Park.

• Sindbad Amusement Park, Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
