Hey Dreadstar. I noticed you just blocked this IP for a month, but he hadn't vandalized since the last warning on his talk page (last contrib, at 21:24; last warning, at 21:25; block, at 21:49). I don't think the block was necessary, in any case, certainly not that long for a first block... · AndonicO Talk 21:56, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found these two antisemitic hate messages [1] [2] to be egregious enough not only to block before final warring, but it also warranted a longer than normal block. Dreadstar 22:06, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you think the block should be shortened, I'm willing...but I believe the block itself was warranted. Dreadstar 22:11, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say around a week would be better than a full month. It just seems to me that he stopped vandalizing with the last warning, so it shouldn't be too strict... · AndonicO Talk 22:33, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure I completely agree, such hate messages should be treated with strictness, any hate speech of that nature should not be tolerated on Wikipedia. I've shortened the block to a week, and I'll try to keep an eye on it after that time. Plus, I'm not as confident as you are that the user was going to truly stop vandalizing after the last warning. I wouldn't have blocked at all at that point had the user been doing only light vandalism..but, unfortunately... Anyway, thanks for the input! Dreadstar 22:43, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of fictional ducks

I personally don't have any real interest in the whole "duck thing". It just looked like an edit war and I thought RPP was needed. If you don't think so, then that works for me. Take Care....NeutralHomer T:C 22:41, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mars Article

I'm not trying to vandalize the Mars Article. I am trying to present evidence. Dismissing my edit as vandalism smacks of censorship and thought policing. Wikipedia is supposed to be a fair public forum. There is excellent evidence supporting the existence of plant life on Mars. You should allow me to move forward with my edit.

T:DYK

I saw your message on Blnguyen's talk page, and I thought I could field this one. Any image on the Main Page is protected through cascading protection. So, there's no need to protect the DYK image at all. Some people do, but it's really not needed, since the image is cascading protected 10-fold (see the protection log, you'll see what I mean). Nishkid64 (talk) 04:57, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And it's a shame you didn't block me. I have a tainted block log, so I might as well accumulate as many mistaken blocks as I can. :) Nishkid64 (talk) 05:01, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where do you find the image instructions? As far as I know, there are two situations.

  1. If the image is uploaded on en.wiki, then you don't need to do anything. Cascading protection will cover everything.
  2. If the image is uploaded on Commons, you either have to locally upload to en.wiki, or you can protect the image on Commons.

Nishkid64 (talk) 18:26, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm...I never thought of protecting the image at Commons and also locally uploading the picture. I naturally assumed cascading protection for the redlink image on en.wiki would prevent creation. Nishkid64 (talk) 19:26, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template vandals

You don't even need to warn them, block them indef on the spot as GNAA trolls, I had to protect those templates anyways as it's clearly high visible. I sadly saw one. Thanks Secret account 23:46, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DYK notices

Hello, AndonicO. I've seen you helping out around DYK these days. Thank you.

I thought I should leave you a friendly reminder that, besides the article writers, nominators usually get notified, too. You may want to post a {{UpdatedDYKNom}} at User talk:Alansohn for his nomination of Battle of Kansas ( {{subst:UpdatedDYKNom|4 January|2008|Battle of Kansas}} --~~~~ ). I could do it, but I thought you might want to do this yourself. Hope this helps. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 23:28, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's okay. That was no big deal. Don't worry too much about it. Happy editing! :-) --PFHLai (talk) 23:38, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Single use template

Hi there, I am attempting to tackle the large number of redundant, abandoned and single-use templates on Wikipedia. One particular single-use template is {{RomaniInfobox}} which is used on the Romani people article, but the template itself transcludes {{Infobox Ethnic group}}. The data in the template is only that data which would normally be included in any other ethnic group article. However Romani people was protected by you on 30 December and therefore I am unable to transfer the data across to the article. I am quite willing to preserve the history of the template by moving it to the userspace of the original author but I need an admin to edit the main article, unless it was temporarily unprotected. For the sake of clarity I have mentioned this on the relevant talkpages and the talkpage of the templates original author (who is on a wikibreak). Would you be able to help? Green Giant (talk) 03:58, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I need some help

Hi! I see you have been reverting the efforts of IP address 71.164.156.245 to incorrectly add information on wikipedia's Survivor pages. I too have been reverting their efforts. He/She seems to think that all conestants voted out 3rd were on Day 9, but this was not the case for Palau, Guatemala, Panama, Cook Islands and Fiji. I have reverted him three times already on the Cook Islands page, and do not wish to break the three revert rule. Could you please revert his edit, which he is adamant about adding. I have double checked, he is definately wrong. Thanks, Survivorfan101 (talk) 13:59, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, wasn't sure if he/she's efforts were considered vandalism, but i guess your right. It is incorrect info after all. Thanks alot Survivorfan101 (talk) 14:15, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, i'm still trying to get used to all this vandalism warning stuff, it's been coming up a lot lately. It seems all i do is revert vandalism. You've been a great help, thanks Survivorfan101 (talk) 14:22, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Mythology vandalism

I reverted it manually, with "rollback". Just out of curiosity, why do you ask? Thingg 18:34, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Warnings removal

You may have read it at Wikipedia:TALK#Others.27_comments:

On your own user talk page, you may remove comments from others, although archiving is generally preferred and removing comments without any reason is generally regarded as uncivil. The text of another user's comment, however, may never be directly edited to misrepresent the person or change the meaning of the comment.

However the other one is more specific on warnings ;-) Happy hunting, Snowolf How can I help? 00:28, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Slipknot Album Vandalism?

Hi there. I am a devoted slipknot fan and I know a lot about them, lol. I recently changed the information about one of the songs, "Eeyore". Apparantly, my comment that it was about a guy Corey Taylor hated is in fact, very true. At a show, there was a guy in the crowd that went around punching people smaller than him and wanted to harm some of the Slipknot band members (they were "Crows" at the time). I'd just like to ask why exactly this is vandalism? Thanks. - Matt (note, I am not a Wikipedia member or anything like that, and i have no desire to vandalize anything here) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.81.162.153 (talk) 00:33, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
