I've been using AWB profusely in a non-Wikimedia wiki, and now I'd like to use it here to include Template:Cite HMDB, and some Wiktionary minor changes. Thanks. Swaare (talk) 17:16, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure-thrilled with the idea of spamming a citation template that was only created three weeks ago. Is there consensus for this? Primefac (talk) 12:29, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I plan to use AWB to clean up and redirect mass-created stubs. –dlthewave 17:25, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like that would be in conflict of WP:AWBRULES #3 Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:18, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
{{not done}} per Lugnuts; I know there are a few discussions regarding stubs happening in various locations at the moment, but I feel like those are already being dealt with. Primefac (talk) 12:29, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Primefac I had to laugh a little bit at your comment because I'm one of the handful of editors who are dealing with these stubs. Even after it's determined that a set of articles was inappropriately mass-created, there's still a massive amount of repetitive manual work that goes into redirecting or listing for deletion, and AWB would help with this immensely.
That said, it's not my intention to use the tool to make controversial edits or to further a dispute. It would only be used for edits that already have consensus. I appreciate your concern that there are ongoing discussions, however the set of articles I'm currently working on (Turkish villages/neighborhoods) has already been discussed in several places (ANI, AfD and Wikiproject Turkey) and I believe there's consensus to redirect to the district-level article. This seems to be supported by the current discussion at AN. Would you reconsider based on this existing consensus, or if I agreed to reach a certain level of community consensus at, say, Village Pump for each set of edits?
For what it's worth, I tried to wait until the recent controversy died down before making this request. The recent objections from Lugnuts as well as the AN thread happened after I posted here. This isn't time sensitive and perhaps it would be best to postpone for a short time until the dust settles. –dlthewave 17:33, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, your reasoned response indicates that you're not just jumping on the bandwagon in an attempt to play cowboy.

I often notice things which need fixing in moderately large quantities, e.g. the 27 transclusions of a template that only works if substed. Recently I converted a series of six sidebars to use {{sidebar}} instead of the unusual {{navbox vertical}}. I would use AWB (actually JWB as I use Linux) to make that sort of change. Hi, I'd like to use AWB with fixing typos and minor formatting fixes. EpicPupper 04:33, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
