The New Haven and Northampton Canal Greenway is a proposed and partially completed rails-to-trails paved recreational trail and non-motorized commuter route along the former right of way of the New Haven and Northampton Railroad. It currently has 63 miles (101 km) open, and when complete it will be 81.2 miles (130.7 km), running from New Haven, Connecticut to Northampton, Massachusetts.[1] It is comprised of the following trails:
- The Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, 45.8 miles (73.7 km) complete, 56.5 miles (90.9 km) proposed from New Haven, Connecticut to Suffield, Connecticut.[2] The section from New Haven to East Granby, Connecticut, 45.3 miles (72.9 km) complete, 54.2 miles (87.2 km) proposed, is shared with the East Coast Greenway.
- The Southwick Rail Trail in Southwick, Massachusetts.[3] All 6.2 miles (10.0 km) complete.
- The Columbia Greenway Rail Trail in Westfield, Massachusetts.[4] 2.6 miles (4.2 km) complete, 7.4 miles (11.9 km) proposed.
- The Southampton Greenway in Southampton, Massachusetts.[5] 0 miles (0 km) complete, 3.9 miles (6.3 km) proposed.
