National Highway 1 (NR1), literally "The Road to Mandalay ") is an important south–north flowing highway of central Burma and the busiest road in the country. It connects Yangon to Meiktila where it joins the National Highway 4 going east and then NR1 continues north to Mandalay.

The highway begins in western Yangon at Pyay Road 16°47′35″N 96°7′51″E / 16.79306°N 96.13083°E / 16.79306; 96.13083 and then continues north to Meiktila where it joins the National Highway 4 at approximately 20°52′22″N 95°52′59″E / 20.87278°N 95.88306°E / 20.87278; 95.88306. The highway then continues north and ends at central Mandalay, where it joins the National Highway 3 at 21°58′58″N 96°5′14″E / 21.98278°N 96.08722°E / 21.98278; 96.08722.
