Dead Man was a film written and directed by Jim Jarmusch that was released in 1995. It starred Johnny Depp, Gary Farmer, Iggy Pop and Robert Mitchum. The musical score was written and performed by Neil Young.

The movie is set in entirely black and white.

Johnny Depp's character is named William Blake, but the character is not familiar with the works of the 18th-19th century artist and writer of the same name. One of the more memorable lines in the film came from Depp's character before he kills a man; after the victim asks if he's William Blake, Blake replies, "Yes I am. Do you know my poetry?" and then shoots. The poetry or William Blake is quoted by the strange nameless Indian throughout the film.

Billy Bob Thorton, Gabriel Byrne, Crispin Glover, and Steve Buscemi are also in this film (but they're either hard to recognize or have a single short scene).
