Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Shreshth91 (talk | contribs) at 11:46, 6 December 2006 (indef-blocked). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

If you believe someone has chosen an inappropriate username under Wikipedia's username policy, you may list it here. However, before listing the user here, please first contact the user on his or her talk page and give them an opportunity to change usernames voluntarily.

Names that are offensive, inflammatory, impersonating an existing user, or asserting inappropriate authority will generally be permanently blocked by visiting admins. If a matter turns out to be controversial, a subpage may be created here to discuss it.

This user name is offensive. It is clearly created only to mock my real name, Steve Scherf, and my user name Scherf (talk · contribs). See the Gracenote page and edit history for further evidence of their intent to insult with this user name. This name is in violation of the Wikipedia username policy (see Wikipedia:Username), as it is against policy to create user names that harass, insult or mock others. It is also against policy to create names that can be confused with other Wikipedia user names. This name should be changed or deleted. Also see the Wikipedia:Personal_attack_intervention_noticeboard page for discussion history on this topic. Steve Scherf 02:44, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please also note that moderator Doc Tropics has acknowledged that this is an attack account. Steve Scherf 02:51, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

blocked as attack account pschemp | talk 16:38, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This user name is offensive, and only used for edit war. Cate 15:24, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just posted message saying same on his talk page. See also this edit. Daniel Case 15:26, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I support the forced change of this name. The word gay is not automatically offensive, but when you use it as an attack in vandalism then it becomes clear. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 15:35, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

indefed right after creation. pschemp | talk 16:37, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This username claims to be a vandal, and is unacceptable under WP:U. The account has only been used for vandalism. I'm not sure if there's a better place to post this, so I'll put it here. I notified the user's talk page in tandem with this nom, rather than before it, as the user hasn't been active since October, and has all of two edits.
