A patriot is someone who feels a strong support for their country. (See also Patriotism.) It is derived from the Hellenic (Greek) word Πατρίς (Patris), which means fatherland. It is the adjective in πατρίς γαία meaning father's land. Πατήρ means Father, the equivalent of Latin Pater. The term may also refer to:
