This article gives rail usage statistics by country according to figures provided by International Union of Railways (UIC).
Today, of the almost 10,000 billions tonne-kilometres performed around the world almost half of it is perfomed in USA and China, while 2,868 billions are performed in Europe. Among the 3,000 billions passengers-kilometres performed around the world 1,158 billions passengers-kilometres are done in India, solely.[1]
